    Cultiva Law - Aaron Pelley

Trusting Aaron Pelley and his firm Cultiva Law was, by far, the biggest mistake I ever made in my…read morelife. For starters, they absolutely refused to prepare for trial - I personally had to go through court records and dig up all the impeachment material myself - they acted super uninterested in any of it. So I did. I dug up at least half a dozen instances to impeach lying witnesses - and I made them promise they would use it. But Cultiva flaked. And I could see it coming - I tried so hard to get this material into trial. But I was fighting them at every turn. Even when they committed to me that they would use it - they completely betrayed me. It was all lies with them. In addition to failing to impeach plaintiffs two most important witnesses - they completely missed a deadline for an expert witness. I was harping on them - do not forget this, do not forget this. But they forgot it. It was like watching the Keystone Cops up close. I can't believe the incompetence. In addition to this, they completely broke numerous agreements about how my case was to be presented. Sure, he's got some good reviews here - but you gotta realize - most of them (or perhaps all) didn't actually go to trial with Cultiva and Pelley. I did. And it was such an unthinkable disaster I almost blame myself for not doing more research to uncover that this is not what these guys actually do, nor are any good at it. But neither do they have any humility whatsoever to admit this. Nor were they straightforward. They are all ego, bluster, and B.S. Insanely, and brazenly, Pelley always referred to himself and Cultiva as "the best." And I was dumb enough to believe that they were at least halfway competent. I do not know how these guys sleep at night. I think of them as completely unconscionable, extremely selfish, and all around horrible attorneys. They destroyed my life. And they don't even care. I have worked with about ten law firms over the years, and Pelley is the least ethical, least trustworthy, least caring, most ambitious, most unaware, most arrogant. It is just a stew of malfeasance, ineptitude, and complete disregard for what we had agreed upon. These people held my life in their hands, and they didn't care, and they didn't honor any of what they said they'd do. I have no words to express the intensity of my negative feelings for Aaron Pelley.

In Feb of 2014, I hired Ms Kris Costello to represent me on a felony DV charge. Ms Costello had…read moreadvertised a rate of $7,000.00 but charged roughly $50,000.00 without explanation. She also never told me she was too busy working on other cases to take on mine. She kept postponing my right to a speedy trial for her own convenience. This wound up costing me a great deal of money and lost profits from stocks I had to sell in order to pay her, and meet my living expenses. She did not conduct a proper investigation, and never interviewed my 19 year old daughter who's was my primary accuser. A competent lawyer would have done so, and exposed the truth. After meeting my wife in the presence of her attorney at Ms. Costello's office, Ms. Costello recommended I take a plea deal because she claimed my wife came across as unstable, and that this would work against me at trail. She also claimed it would be more cost effective for me and my family finances. After the NCO was lifted, I found neither case was true. In short, I reluctantly accepted the plea deal. When I arrived in court, Ms. Costello showed me a piece of paper in which I was also to plead that "these things are true". She never discussed what "these things" were with me at any point before my plea. The only thing she said to me (while waiting in the courtroom to see the judge) was if I kept my mouth shut, then I would get to have unrestricted access to my 9 year old son. So, when the judge ask me if I had read and understood "these things are true", I lied to him upon her advice, and said yes. After hiring another attorney to review Ms Costello's work, I discovered that all of the things I pleaded "true" were lies. This included a lie by the DA that I had violated the NCO, and for which I was rearrested in lieu of $250,000.00 bail 2 days after my February 2014 arrest. I finally hired another lawyer several months and tens of thousands of dollars later to clean up Ms. Costello's mess, get the NCO entirely lifted, and reunite with my wife. On that day in court I learned that the NCO was still in effect with my 9 year old son, and that every moment I was with him I was subject to rearrest. Fortunately, this did not happen.
