He asked us tons of good questions and really wanted to get to know our situation rather than jump straight to IVF. We've struggled with infertility for 2 years and spent a year at a fertility clinic in Los Angeles (where we used to live), doing tests and 4 failed IUIs. At another consultation at Conceptions, Dr. Bush said IVF was really our only hope. But Dr. Gustofson at CCRM carefully looked at our records, noticed some areas where the Los Angeles clinic should have done better, and recommended trying IUI again. Dr. G is like a brilliant expert coach who wants to come alongside you to figure out the puzzle pieces. After our first IUI with him, we are now pregnant for the first time! We could have considered IVF if that was best for us, but we're so thankful that he took the time to really get to know our situation. After every conversation he asks "what other questions do you have?" and is always personable and knowledgeable. Also at CCRM, we have a dedicated nurse (Chris, who is amazing!) who has always gotten back to us the same day on questions, and calls us personally to explain lab results. The entire place is so well organized. Even before our positive pregnancy test we knew they had taken a process that was so painful and turned it into something filled with hope and answers. Can't recommend them highly enough!

I am so grateful to have found her and I will continue to see her even after I healed. She was also very conscientious of my budget and tried to accommodate my needs without ordering me to perform a bunch of unnecessary testing at once. An amazing and truly passionate doctor. I highly recommend her. As a plus, she had a lovely office, lovely staff, and a great range of supplements.

I did one cycle of egg freezing here which was cancelled after 8 days. The cycle should have been canceled considerably earlier, but I wasn't permitted to speak to my doctor during the cycle, and whichever nurse called each day would repeat the same stock information that it's "up to the patient" whether to cancel and that some choose to do a retrieval with only 1-2 follicles. I was not in a situation where I would have chosen to do a retrieval with 1-2 follicles, and I'm pretty sure they are trying to avoid cancellations so it helps their stats. I was never given useful information from anyone about how/why my results day by day were so far below expectations, which would have given me the information I needed to advocate for myself and cancel the cycle. At my consultation I was told what would be a reasonable goal for my retrieval given my medical history and lab results. There was no discussion of the likelihood of a poor result, or the possibility that someone's first cycle could be so drastically below expectations. At my first ultrasound, it was clear something was wrong because I had so few follicles. Each subsequent ultrasound showed extremely slow growth to the point where on day 8 of medication, I had one follicle that was the appropriate size. When I regrouped with the doctor afterwards, she said this was not expected given my initial labs, and that I would probably do better a second time. When I asked how common my outcome was (really underperforming on their first round of IVF) for someone my age, she said it happens "about 50% of the time." I was shocked that if this was so common, she never mentioned it in my initial appointment. This would have better prepared me for my poor results during the cycle, or honestly changed my calculus of whether to do IVF at all. The doctor also mentioned that part of the reason she chose to continue my cycle (which obviously wasn't going to lead to success) was that she could gather data for subsequent rounds of IVF. I was never told this was one of the objectives, and had I known, I would have cancelled my cycle earlier. Everyone has different reasons for pursuing IVF, and different financial considerations, which will affect their choice of whether to cancel their cycle or not. But providing no information to patients about these tradeoffs, and honest assessments of their progress, is horrible medical care. You only get to communicate with nurses during your cycle - one is assigned to you during IVF, and each day a different one will call with your medication instructions. None of them are familiar with your situation at all, and at one point my assigned IVF nurse messaged saying that timed intercourse or IUI could be an option if the cycle didn't improve (I was trying to freeze eggs, not get pregnant). This practice took what was a normally frustrating experience of having to cancel an IVF cycle and made it multiple times more stressful and upsetting than it should have been with their horrible communication and the fact that I was repeatedly lied to by staff saying we should just wait until the next ultrasound to see if more follicles pop up. It was clear afterwards that for several days my doctor knew that wasn't realistic and was just using this cycle to collect data to prepare me for a second cycle (which I will of course not be doing here). I hope this review can help someone considering this clinic make a decision, or someone in the middle of a cycle here who isn't getting personalized care better advocate for themselves. On my last day of medication, after complaining enough I guess, I was able to talk to the head nurse, who gave me an honest assessment of my situation and tradeoffs, which led to me cancelling the cycle. Had the other nurses provided information remotely as thoroughly and helpfully as she had, I would not be writing this review.

When I wanted to share the results with my boyfriend now husband I realized I tested positive for HSV-1. This although might seem common in USA but it was news to me. I had gotten it from my ex-husband. So the doctor made an assumption to not share this. No big deal... let's move on. Second time I went to the doctor sharing I have very painful periods in 2023. The doctor did a vaginal ultrasound and said they didn't find any problem and everything looks good. I dont have pcos or anything else. It's just my physiology that causes painful periods and they can prescribe a stronger pain reliever. 1.5 years later my endocrinologist does a renal ultrasound and finds an ovarian cyst. They feel concerned and a few months later they repeat the exam and the cyst persisted and has slightly grown. I call my obgyn receptionist and notify them about this and they mention that I have had cysts before. I am shocked to hear this. I call again to get more details and find that I had a complex cyst on my left ovary and a simple cyst on my right side. Well 1.5 years later the complex cyst has doubled in size. I had a co-worker ask me for obgyn recommendations stating they wanted to change their's due to poor bed side manners. It turned out it was Dr. Christine Hansen. I wasn't surprised since I had heard this before. I chose to stay because she was recommended to me by a close friend who is a local and I agreed with her this doctor does feel smart. I do think this doctor is smart, but she makes assumptions and keeps info from you. She doesn't trust that your genuine concerns and dismisses them (for whatever reason). I can't trust her a third time. Regarding all the negative reviews for the receptionist, I have to thank her. This one star is for her. Now the painful periods make sense. The lower back pain in the left side makes sense. Thank you!

At our first visit at the Erie office, Dr. McNamara listened attentively and was respectful and validating about my questions and concerns, as well as being friendly and caring. Unlike the office that I'd previously sought care with, he didn't suggest to me, "Don't define yourself by your illness" (and that from a female, albeit a young one - may she never be diagnosed with this painful condition). In contrast, Dr. McNamara understands my efforts at being informed and proactive. I've never been one to play my "tiny violin," and am a survivor/thriver of breast CA who has otherwise been active and healthy my entire life. Suddenly developing an issue with chronic pain was something I'd never dealt with before, and that threw me for quite a loop. I now feel like I have a provider who really understands how debilitating this condition can potentially be. Our first visit was a very thorough one, and I left there feeling like I wasn't being discounted or dismissed. I can't tell you how much that means for someone managing a painful diagnosis that can be difficult to treat, and I feel like I'm now finally in good hands. Dr. McNamara was recommended to me by a provider at my primary's office, and I'm so glad I took his advice to go see him. I will say that the Erie front desk staff is a lot more pleasant than the Boulder front desk. I echo the reviews of others that the front desk at the Boulder office leaves a LOT to be desired. No smiles, very curt, seem like they really don't want to be there. I seem to remember this from a past visit years ago and a less-than-desirable experience with all kinds of miscommunication with nurses when an MD was out on an unexpectedly lengthy family emergency leave. I had my primary take over my basic Rx for estradiol at that point, which was the only reason I was being seen by them, but gave them another chance when Dr. McNamara was recently recommended for this current issue. So glad I did. I can overlook the borderline rude front desk staff just to see him. Also, MA Katie (I think that was her name) was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, because of the front desk staff, I'd be hesitant to go there as a first-time parent. You want a more caring experience from the very first moment you call and step in the office waiting room to the time you deliver and beyond, and that includes the front desk. But as far as Dr. McNamara and his assistant, I've had an excellent experience going to BWC.
