I have been in Dr. Christine Hansen care for 7 years. There were two instances where she kept information from me. First when I got a full STD testing, I was told all is well. When I wanted to share the results with my boyfriend now husband I realized I tested positive for HSV-1. This although might seem common in USA but it was news to me. I had gotten it from my ex-husband. So the doctor made an assumption to not share this. No big deal... let's move on. Second time I went to the doctor sharing I have very painful periods in 2023. The doctor did a vaginal ultrasound and said they didn't find any problem and everything looks good. I dont have pcos or anything else. It's just my physiology that causes painful periods and they can prescribe a stronger pain reliever. 1.5 years later my endocrinologist does a renal ultrasound and finds an ovarian cyst. They feel concerned and a few months later they repeat the exam and the cyst persisted and has slightly grown. I call my obgyn receptionist and notify them about this and they mention that I have had cysts before. I am shocked to hear this. I call again to get more details and find that I had a complex cyst on my left ovary and a simple cyst on my right side. Well 1.5 years later the complex cyst has doubled in size. I had a co-worker ask me for obgyn recommendations stating they wanted to change their's due to poor bed side manners. It turned out it was Dr. Christine Hansen. I wasn't surprised since I had heard this before. I chose to stay because she was recommended to me by a close friend who is a local and I agreed with her this doctor does feel smart. I do think this doctor is smart, but she makes assumptions and keeps info from you. She doesn't trust that your genuine concerns and dismisses them (for whatever reason). I can't trust her a third time. Regarding all the negative reviews for the receptionist, I have to thank her. This one star is for her. Now the painful periods make sense. The lower back pain in the left side makes sense. Thank you! read more

I've been a patient of Boulder Women's Clinic since 1984 and my experience has always been caring and professional. Dr Hansen has seen me through many gynecological situations and her support and expertise has been wonderful. The front desk is also great. I'm surprised at some of these other reviews. read more

I have had the worst costumer service experience with the Boulder Women's Clinic. My medications were never called in, the payment process has been an absolutely horrible process. Every time I have called to get clarification on what I am being charged for the women are awful and foul on the other end. I have had to call multiple times as I received separate bills for everything (No clue why when it was one visit) I paid one bill late and the person on the other end never let me know of the late fee or charged me for the late fee that I would have been more than willing to pay. So I was once again billed for something with no explanation until calling again. My insurance company called with me as things were not adding up. Not once was I greeted with kindness or patience, and no one apologized for never sending my medications in. I recommend voiding at all costs. read more

Let me start off by saying that I am truly saddened to leave this clinic because the practitioners I saw were incredible and made me feel extremely comfortable. This review is geared towards the receptionist, Cathy, who has been nothing but utterly rude and judgmental. She has made the experience enough to have to stop seeing a practitioner here. She constantly makes me feel judged, and especially since she is the first one to see when you walk in. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

About a year ago I got covid and according to Boulder women's clinic I had to cancel my appointment last minute because they didn't want me coming inside with covid. So I did. For the last year they have been hounding me for money to pay my cancellation fee, even though they demanded that I cancel my appointment. Cathy, the front office supervisor, is extremely unprofessional and rude. I asked to speak to the owner to get this resolved and she flat out told me no. Cathy called this morning telling me she is sending me to collections tomorrow for over $100 in fees for canceling my appointment. I would have come in for my appointment but they wouldn't let me and now they have the audacity to send charge me for my visit? I would steer clear from this office. They are shady and there are much better clinics out there, such as UCHealth clinic. read more

I need to find a new clinic. My daughter is 14 and has health issues which require seeing an OB. They refuse to let me join my daughter on the appointments even when she asks because she is scared. Then she cannot remember all the information the provider gives to her so we have to call and attempt to get the info later which is nearly impossible. The front desk gal is curt and unwelcoming. I'm finding a new clinic as this is ridiculous that my daughter cannot have a parent in for an appt when she is requesting it. read more

i called to see if I could get an appointment as I had been a patient there years before when I lived in Boulder... I actually experienced ageism in the most harsh way .The receptionist was rude and condescending and told me that i could not have an appointment because of my age !!!!! I was shocked that I was treated so poorly as though at a certain age you are not entitled to what I perceived as the best care..i have been a bit desperate to find someone who could continue my care as I lost my primary doctor recently and was excited to return to BVWC . How devastating to be shut out because of my age..shame on you GVWC. read more

I just wanted to take a moment to share a positive review because I really do think it is warranted here. For me, having a provider that listens is most important. I have met both Dr. Hansen and Sarah Curzon, PA-C and receive great care every time. The providers really listen to my concerns, address all my questions, and include me in their decision making. They always help me understand my options and explain their recommendations so I feel involved in making informed decisions about my health. Sometimes you have to wait a little while in the waiting room (nothing outrageous, and honestly less than I've waited at other offices) to see the provider, but it's so worth the wait because you know that they will take the time to help you when it's your turn. I really feel like they care about my concerns and I don't feel rushed during my appointments. Personally, I'm a little surprised by the negative reviews in regards to front desk staff/scheduling. I find them to be really patient, knowledgable, and helpful. Their staffing is consistent so you know who you are interacting with. For non-urgent problem-oriented visits, I've never had to wait more than 1-2 weeks to get into the office (given what I could do with my own work schedule) and I think that's pretty reasonable. Every time I leave this office I feel supported and confident that we are addressing my problem. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a GYN in Boulder/Broomfield, and I even recommended them to my family members in Denver looking for quality women's care. read more

I would first like to state that this review has nothing to do with the practitioners here! I've been coming in for several months due to a reoccurring issue and I've met with Kathryn Johnson & Dr. Hansen-- both lovely! My issue lies with the receptionist at this office, as is the same with many others on this Yelp page, apparently. She is both incompetent at her job and very rude! As mentioned before, I have been to this clinic quite a lot, and will have to go several more times in the future. I found myself dreading every single call I have to make because the receptionist is simply so unpleasant to talk to. She has a very grating and unsympathetic tone, and what seems to be a hatred for the job that she is paid to do. There have been several times where she has misinterpreted my charts and caused me to take incorrect steps with my medical "journey," so to speak. This has been a very difficult time for me, and several times this receptionist has refused to let me speak to my doctor over the phone with my concerns, instead insisting that I have to come in and pay the $25 copayment every time I'm worried, even though medically nothing has changed with me. Again, I have absolutely no issue with the actual practitioners at this office, this is more so intended as a "buyer beware" type deal, as you will have to pass through her to get to the people that will help you! PS-- If someone from the administration of this hospital manages to see this, please try to take some sort of disciplinary action here. It's obviously a problem, as most of the negative reviews on this platform are her fault. read more

The first time I went to the GYNO I fainted in spread eagle. I am not kidding... might be a little personal, but it is funny now. I woke up with five nurses staring at my "beautiful" and saying my name to wake me up. Not the fantasy I had in mind, but it worked for the time being. I told the GYNO that I was going to faint and she didn't believe me. She said, "In all of my 25 years of being a GYNO I have never had a patient faint on me." It is a good title to have when you don't win many awards. About seven years later now I have managed not to faint anymore, but I always warn the doctors. For the past two years I have been going to the Boulder Women's Clinic where I see Myra Young. Myra is the best GYNO I have ever had.... she is kind, gentle and she gives you socks so you don't have to have your heels on the cold metal... She actually sits down and talks to you and doesn't hurry out of the room to her next client. We can talk about my "beautiful" as long as I want and she wont rush me. My beautiful appreciates that... So now, we don't get so nervous around GYNOs. * One Star for going to school to study "beautifuls" all day ** Two starts for seeing me before work at 7:45am *** Three stars for making me feel comfortable and warm **** Our fourth star for being easy to find, in a LEED gold building, and offering free parking ***** Mr. fifth star is thrown in for not weighing me every time I come back read more

Kathryn Johnson is the besttt! I have been going to her for quite some time now and she has helped me through some tough patches in my life. I have had so much trouble finding the right birth control for me and my body. For about 4 years I have been struggling to find a birth control that doesn't make my life a living hell and finally I have found the with Paraguard, which I know is not right for every woman, but for me and my lifestyle and body it has been great. Kathryn has always made sure that I am well educated on my options and that I feel comfortable with her. I have honestly never felt so comfortable and open with a doctor before. She is open minded and well informed. I have never had an issue with the front desk, which it seems like quite a few people have, but at the end of the day I am personally willing to work around the front desk if it means I can have an amazing doctor on the other side. I have also never had an issue with their billing and I have United Health Insurance. read more

My wife went to see Dr Hansen, and she came home crying. She was in pain for days afterwards. I'm going to be her proxy in this review, because she is trying to forget the entire experience and doesn't want to re-live it . I'm not sure where these 5-star reviews are coming from, because if you check healthgrades, you will see many people do not consider the Boulder Women's Clinic to be a 5-star experience. I booked a fertility apointment with this office two months ago, and they canceled my appointment, then refused to re-schedule me until late June (when my husband and I will be on our honeymoon). I have been to this place several times for my annual and follow up appointment. I felt that the care I received was good, I saw Kathryn Johnson. She was very attentive and I felt her suggestions were well informed. Just on her service alone, I would say 5 stars. Unfortunately I've been dealing with them for the past year over the phone and have had a bad experience ever since. Jessica, who answers the phone (usually, I think) is very rude, quick, and overall provides bad service. I simply can't believe she is still there as the first point of contact for the business. I thought many times "maybe she had a rough day today". But this was literally 5, 6, 7 different interactions. I had issues with getting payment back from my insurance and that wasn't their fault at all. However, expressing some sort of "I'm sorry, let me see if I can help" would have been great. She just says to call my insurance and it's not their problem. She also sounds very irritated when I try to dig in to various details of past services. When I asked for a copy of my records it took weeks to arrive - with a note saying that this won't be free next time. I just didn't feel good about the interaction with them over the last year. If you're seeing a doc and don't interact with front desk at all for scheduling, payment, or anything else, it's probably a good place. But given all the trouble that insurances are these days, I'd suggest a place that takes better care of their patients overall. I have since gone to Boulder Valley Women's Health (on Valmont) and like everything there so far. Front desk people are very helpful and the care is great! read more

I have to yelp about this place, because it has seriously turned my life around. I was referred to Dr. Hanson when i was in college, and stayed with this clinic for 3 years following. While living in Denver at the time, I ended up having a surgery in this clinic in 2009. My mom took me back to colorado springs after to have some R&R for the weekend. Well, The next day i was hemorrhaging so badly i knew i needed to go to the ER. It was my decision to be driven all the way to Boulder from colorado springs because i was able to get Dr. Hanson on the phone, and on a night off ,she was willing to meet me at an ER near her and took care of me. It was terrifying and detrimental, but Christine made everything better, and i will forever trust her more than any doctor i have ever had or known. This clinic is wonderful. the whole staff is loving and caring, they remember me too when i come back for appointments. I commute all the way from downtown denver because i refuse to ever see another gynecologist. In the last week i had another last minute procedure, and i want to cry because of how thankful i am for all of the ladies there. They have helped me overcome so many obstacles, and allowed me to trust this office on a level i cannot even explain. I would give their clinic 10 stars if i could. But either way, Christine, Jen, and all of y our staff, i love you and am so thankful to have you !!! read more

Although I was at first so very happy with Kathryn Johnson, PA-C I was willing to put up with the curt women who answer the phones & at front desk. Day 1, I was told an amount the visit would cost. I left a check since I had forgotten my credit card I returned within two hours with my card. 6 months later I'm sent an invoice (for the 1st time) with a late charge on it! I also was informed that my second visit was followup to the first and asked for the charge since I was required to come in and was told it was part of the first visit. I was not told of an additional fee and billing from the hospital for reading my labs and my total charges were over twice what I was originally told. $400 out of my pocket, I'm frustrated and my insurance is stating that they over charge. I have other complaints I will not include. I no longer have anything good to say about Johnson or the clinic and am deeply disappointed. Dr. Hansen has been my go-to since high school and I couldn't be happier. She has the perfect balance of telling you when something is really important and not freaking you out about things. I'm not sure what doctor Gina had, but I had Lilias and she was FANTASTIC. I believe she is a physicians assistant there. She was gentle, calm, non-judgmental and all in all, a genuine person. I love Boulder Women's Clinic. The office staff is courteous, prompt, and always pleasant, even over the phone. I have never waited more than about 2.5 minutes in their waiting room. I have had appointments with about half of the staff (Dr. Hansen & both PAs), and they were all well-informed, level-headed, and honest with me. They treated me like an intelligent human being about whose holistic health they were concerned, not just a 20-something who was another set of billing dollars. Dr. Hansen was not as warm as the PAs, but I think it's a personality thing between the two of us; she is a perfectly adequate doctor. When I first moved to Boulder, I needed a doctor's appointment PRONTO. They gave me one, it was great. The follow-up was prompt and complete. I went back for an annual a month or so later, and then back again to get an IUD inserted. All great experiences, the necessary discomfort of an IUD insertion aside. I have always felt respected and an equal partner in my decision-making regarding my health. For example, I was well-set on a copper IUD for a number of reasons, and they did not try to dissuade me, but answered all my questions and ensured that I was informed. Great place! I recommend it to all women in the county! read more

The first word that comes to mind with their office staff is complete incompetence. I am a professional, owning my own business in the healthcare field, and, I would never treat a patient/client the way that I was treated by their staff. The doctor and PA were the usual quick visit, but, the staff was absolutely the worst that I have ever encountered in the medical field. In a nutshell...I moved back to Boulder from out of state and had a dr. visit here right away. I had scheduled an appointment for August, but, called to get on their waiting list, so, I was able to switch that appt to July. I told the receptionist that I had just moved back and she said, "oh, so your information isn't current." No, so I filled in my new address, but, my cell phone number was the same for the past 5 years. When they billed my insurance, Blue Cross was in the process of switching me over to COBRA, so, they denied the claim. This was the insurance company's mistake. Rather than call me to tell me (like my dentist had done just last month), they mailed me monthly bills to my very old address (that I updated with the receptionist first thing) for SIX months, charging me rebill fees each month. Meanwhile, I had no idea this was even going on because I never heard from them. So, early March, I get a phone call from a receptionist to update my address, so, I gave it to her, but said that she should already have that on file from last summer. She told me that I owed them money and they were sending my account to collections. What? She couldn't explain the reasoning, so, I asked for the Billing Mgr so I could get clear on what had happened. The mgr would not get on the phone, so, I left a message and asked her to call me so I could resolve this mistake asap. Five days later I called back and left another message. No one called me back, again. I called towards the end of the day and asked specifically for Cindy and she would not take my call. I was put on hold back and forth between 2 receptionists and they kept telling me, "Well, if you don't pay your bill you are being sent to collections. So, it's your choice. Do whatever you want." Are you kidding me? Here I am, calling them to try to resolve this. I explained and had a confirmation phone number of my insurance agent's phone number who said they resubmitted the claim to be paid to the dr's office and that was the ins. company's error. I told them that I would pay the bill, but, it seems to me that good business would be to remove the late fees and charge me the correct amount which was clearly indicated on the EOB (Exlplanation of Benefits). They argued with me about the amount, so, again, I asked to speak with the Billing Mgr because it was clear as day that the amount was incorrect. They refused to put me through and said it would never be changed, so, if I prefered to be sent to Collections that's my choice. I am a professional, mindful person and would never ever talk to anyone like that and act accusingly. All of this aggravation over $115! I told them it was the principle, not the amount. I am embarrassed to have even gone to such an unprofessional medical office and will obviously never return there. A mistake that was made by the insurance company was a mistake that I tried my best to clear. It turned into a very upsetting and stressful situation with the amount of time I spent on the phone calling, waiting, etc. Go elsewhere. They are absolutely awful. ps. That August appoinment that they supposedly cancelled when I was called to take the earlier July appt....they wrote that in my chart as a no show! read more

I was scheduled for a ultra sound for a ruptured ovarian cyst and bladder infection. I was hospitilized in Dallas, and was doing follow up treatment at Boulder Women's clinic. I had been there before for minor check ups and noticed her disinterest, but since there were no problems, I hadn't searched for a new ob-gyn. The ultrasound tech had already gone when I arrived for my appointment despite them knowing the reason for appt. (the desk said the tech would be there) Dr. Hansen was bored and uninterested. I was a patient here for over 10 years. I have mainly been going for my annual pap smears, but they also have managed my underactive thyroid since it doesn't require much more than a blood test every 6 months and a prescription every year. I had my annual pap in the fall of 2014. The PA decided I needed an ultrasound as a follow up. Less than a month later I received a job offer for a position in Germany. I did not get the ultrasound done before I left. Once I got to Germany, I couldn't get my prescription filled for my birth control because it was so high it was illegal over there. I had to make an appointment with a gyno in Germany in April 2015 to get a new prescription. When I was at the doctor's office in Germany, I told her about my check up from the previous fall. She went ahead and did the ultrasound and gave me a new prescription for pills. I came back to the States in September 2015 (much sooner than I had planned). Since I had gotten a pap smear and the ultrasound done in Germany in 2015 and it was covered by insurance, I wasn't going to do it again in the States. I would have to pay out of pocket if I did and also had no reason to get them done twice. Once I got back, I got a job in Dallas and began the process of moving down to TX from Denver. On one of my trips down, I left all my thyroid medication in my apartment in Dallas. I realized it once I got back to Denver. I called BWC and asked to have a prescription for my thyroid medication for just one week so that I didn't miss any doses until I could get back down to TX (I was heading back down in only a few days). Believe it or not, the response from Katheryn the PA was 'NO - not until I get the ultrasound for my uterus'. I received this in a phone call back from one of the women at the front desk - not from Katheryn herself. For those of you who may not know - my uterus has absolutely nothing to do with my thyroid. These are two completely separate things. So - my "doctor" was perfectly OK with me going off my thyroid medication because she was mad that I had never gone back to BWC for an ultrasound. She was aware that I had received an ultrasound in Germany - I had already explained this in a previous phone call. If she was requiring a test related to my thyroid - I would have understood her response. If I was requesting a prescription for birth control pills - I would have understood her response. But she was basically holding my thyroid medication hostage until I got a completely unrelated test done - the results of which would have absolutely no effect on my thyroid prescription. I had no other options to get an emergency prescription filled and they knew that. I was not going to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for a test that I already had done just so I could get a few days' worth of pills. So I went off my medication. I am having a hard time believing that this office has the best interest of its patients in mind when it does things like this. What they did may be legal, but was definitely not ethical. Since I have moved to Dallas, I will be finding a new doctor anyway. But after this latest experience, I would have been changing doctors anyway. read more

HORRIBLE practice! If I could give no stars, I would. I have never given a bad review for anyone ever, so this is a first for me. However, I feel it is my responsibility to share my dreadful experience with other women. I have never had such a traumatic experience with an obgyn until visiting this practice. I just had my first pap here, and I have been bleeding ever since! I came home feeling nauseous, very tender and sore and went straight to sleep. My husband came home and put me in the bath and felt frustrated and sad for me. It's been 6 days, and I'm still bleeding. I feel completely violated. She didn't use any lubrication during the pap! It was SOOOOO uncomfortable and made me very anxious. No pap is great, but there are things that can be done to help soothe the experience. The doctor was not at all personable, made me feel I didn't know my own body and was very cold. She didn't have much to say at all and had very uncomfortable bedside manners. She made the rude comment, "What, you don't know when you're ovulating?" I felt she was threatened by my support of Eastern medicine. As soon as she walked in the room, I could feel her negative energy. If this isn't enough, I have had breast pain and discomfort, and they will not authorize an MRI, which I've been advised to get. I'm beyond furious and angry that they treat their patients in this manner. We're planning to try and get pregnant and I'd like to know my breasts are okay. They just said no and refuse to authorize it without any further comment or concern. I ended up getting into an argument with them over the phone and demanded that their office manager please call me ASAP. Do they want patients to go without diagnosis and end up with worse conditions later? Maybe so. Maybe it's all about making money for them instead of what's best for their patients. I will never step foot in this practice again. I want to warn other women, so they don't have to go through the traumatic experience I have. I don't wish this upon anyone. read more

Don't go here especially if you have a more complicated health history. The doctors and RNs are extremely unprofessional and do not even bring your chart into the appointment. Thus they don't treat you properly because they don't know who you are. Kathryn Johnson is the worst in the office. I had made an appointment for her to show me the list of possible birth control options she'd compiled since our last visit. She agreed to this. I called the secretary to make sure that she would already have a list of options as my last appointment was cut short because she didn't know and then proceeded to order a drug I had already been on (showing clearly that she didn't look at my chart). At my appointment, it was like we had met for the first time, not like we'd been seeing each other 3-6 times a year for multiple years. She had no idea who I was or my complex health history which includes suicidal ideation that is worsened by some birth control options. If I had not experienced this complete lack of caring from other professionals before, I would have gotten the exact opposite medicine that I needed and it could have made me suicidal. Instead I needed to run the whole appointment and ask every single question I could think of in hopes I would get proper treatment and not get put in a dangerous situation. I literally had to ask her which of the options has been safer for other mentally ill patients. She didn't even think about the fact that a drug she was prescribing could literally kill her patient. I called to complain and they kicked me out of their system. Now I need to find a new gynecologist which is extremely hard as a disabled, complex patient. Don't waste your time. read more

The office ladies are some of the rudest people I have ever encountered in a medical office. Their billing system is horrible and when you try to call to sort things out, they are aggressive, talk over you, and make no attempt to try to work with you. When trying to set up a payment plan I was told if I didn't pay off a several hundred dollar bill in 3 months then I would be sent to collections. This was after I explained that I lost my job and had no income, but would try to pay whatever little I could. When I asked for a more lenient payment plan I was told "we are not a personal bank for people." I understand the frustration of wanting to collect money that people owe, but have a little compassion, especially when someone is making an attempt to pay their bill! I've called several times over the past few months and continually get conflicting information, including what my current balance is. It's incredibly frustrating. read more

Wife had two children with this practice. We spent no less than 8K out of pocket (high deductibles with insurance), but were very happy with the docs. My wife continued with this practice for her yearly exams. Her insurance at work recently changed. The billing department sent us a bill for her yearly preventative exam and said our insurance was no longer valid. Easy fix, they had the old one on file. We tried to give all the information over the phone. Nope. Dropped off a copy of the card at their office. Even called the billing lady (will not mention her name, but a very rude person) and left a voicemail stating that we dropped off the copy and to CALL US if there were any issues. Never heard from her, so everything was OK, right? Nope. Received a threatening letter/bill about collections agencies, being kicked out of their "practice," etc., etc. Unbelievable! Guess those pictures of our kids on their wall after birth was just for show! We are considering possible legal action for their ridiculous follow up. If you have insurance.....a preventative exam is ALWAYS covered! Figure it out! Great docs, but if $$ signs are the only thing that matters, you may want to avoid this place:-( read more
