A similar experience to other potential adopters, this rescue is a piece of work (substitute…read moreanother 4 letter word).  Saw a dog they had listed on Petfinder, the generalities matched well and contacted them and was told to fill out a lengthy application, then they'd get back to me in 2-3 weeks.  That seems fairly long, but we liked the dog.  An "adoption counselor" got back with us around 2 weeks, and during the interview revealed they selected a "pre-approved adopter" for the dog (which is still at time of writing listed as available on Petfinder to draw more applications).  What?  Why post the dog as available if they're going to select who to give him to out of their prior applicants?  These people are controlling, manipulative and abusive; wanting to control what you get, manipulating via bait & switch, and generally abusing by wasting your time and crushing your hopes. They insist on a meet & greet, which is only practical if you're in the area, and not a guarantee of compatibility long term with your existing dogs.  Once your all home, dynamics can change especially if the owner is not the leader of the pack.  We've adopted a number of dogs over the years, at least half were from out of state and flown or transported, and of the local adoptions only twice was there any meeting of the dogs prior to adopting. They won't work with another rescue in vetting your home, likely because they'd catch onto whatever racket they're running and report them to PACFA or applicable Maryland agency.  They won't work with adoption transport services though many excellent ones exist precisely to facilitate getting dogs to good homes that are far away.  They're too lazy to take a dog to an arranged transport at an airport even though the adopter is willing to pay all costs and donate extra for the time taken (which would then buy more necessities for the rescue). I'm sure this particular coven of witches thinks they're doing right by the dog, but they're turning off adopters by the score.  Deal with enough sham rescues like this in a row and you'll be going to PuppyMart breeders for a companion because some controlling crones won't let you adopt the dogs you want.

As a bonus for C2CR, they will literally line up a train of volunteers to transport a pup from place to place, each driving a few hours in their local area... and in this manner may drive a dog literally from coast to coast to get them to their forever home.

Wow wow wow I am impressed with this visit, little did I know this place has more than tractor…read moresupplies! I came to bathe my 2 dogs since I heard a timer this place had a dog wash. Apon pulling up I was skeptical but as I was about to get out a man was walking in with his pup excited to get inside. Washes are only $10, yes 10 which is a great deal you pay up front and they provide you with towels. Every 4th wash is free so it's an amazing deal with 2 dogs. The room is heated a bit which is great when the dogs are wet. There's a ramp to help dogs get in and out of the tub easily. They have smocks for the wash and when you blow dry how cool. I love the different shampoos since the dogs have 2 different skin and fur types and you shouldn't run out. There's brushes and detangling gloves galore, and lukewarm adjustable blowers. The selection of options is a great find to have so close by and convenient. I love that the baths are so high up so I'm not hurting my back cleaning the little one. I kinda knew I wanted a smaller dog so that my neurotic pet wouldn't feel displaced or inferior to a larger dog. Soooo....off to the internet I go. I was going from site to site just wandering when I came upon Carole's Cowdogs Toy and Mini Aussies. I was blown away that there even WAS toy and minis in my favorite breed. She had one puppy left of her litter and my heart tugged when I saw his pictures. So tiny but you could see pride in his eyes. I didn't really want a breeder outside of New England so I kept on trying to find another breeder...but I kept on going back to this one. I was hooked...I just had to admit it to myself. I contacted Carole and she was so super nice and helpful that it only took 2 days before I contacted her again and told her we would drive down to pick him up on Mother's Day. Mandah was the best!! She was just as excited to go with me as I wanted her to go! We even talked Joey into going!! GO FIGURE!!!!! After 7 hours, we got to Carole's farm and we met Hoagie (Joey named him btw). His living quarters were super clean, fresh and new looking. Carole's was great! She gave us his lineage all the way to his great granparents and a cute little collar.She even gave us his second puppy shot to take with us. Last year I took another horse to Ridge Meadow Farm to be boarded until we moved to our new farm. David was very helpful and personally keeps a close eye on all of the horses and makes sure they are all happy and healthy. I am impressed with how clean and well maintained this large horse farm is! And it is owned and managed by someone who not only is very knowledgeable about horses but he cares about their well being.
