Cleidson Ramos is a phenomenal Jiu Jitsu professor and all-around great person. He puts his whole heart into teaching Jiu Jitsu, and the degree to which he cares about his students is unmistakable. I was very nervous starting Jiu Jitsu as a woman in my late 30s with no martial arts experience, but Professor Ramos has always made me feel welcome in class, even in classes where I've been the only woman present. He makes me feel as though he's genuinely happy that I'm there. The students at Apex BJJ also deserve mention. This group is truly a family. I wish I had started Jiu Jitsu earlier in my life for many reasons, but one of the main reasons is the phenomenal people I have had the opportunity to meet. I was involved in sports growing up, but a good Jiu Jitsu family is like no other team. The Apex crew is a perfect example of this. When I feel like I might be too tired to train, the desire to see my friends propels me into the gym. No matter how tired or stressed I might be, I never regret showing up, and I always go home feeling better than before I stepped onto the mats. It's hard to describe how much stronger I feel now than before I started Jiu Jitsu because the difference is so stark, but physical strength is only part of it. I feel mentally stronger and more confident across different areas of my life. I've only been training for about 18 months, but Jiu Jitsu has absolutely changed my life for the better. I feel very lucky to have found Professor Ramos on Day One of my Jiu Jitsu journey, and even luckier to be part of Apex BJJ.

Apex has top notch instruction with Cleidson Ramos at the helm. However this academy is not just about reaching your peak performance - it's also about family and the pursuit of making yourself a better person. As a woman, practicing BJJ at Apex has felt safe, increased my self confidence, and given me a greater sense of community.

Coach: Cleidson is an amazingly attentive, talented and detail oriented coach. He leads by example and when it comes to consistency he's hard to beat. Through the pandemic Cleidson was a rock for his gym and more importantly for his students regardless of age. My daughter loves training under him and began competing 3 months after joining him. It's built her confidence and many of her peers in class have become her closest friends. Gym: getting used to the new gym but it's clean and sanitized after every practice which is huge for us. The members: this is the clincher, the guys and gals here make or break a gym and that's one of the biggest reasons I enjoy coming in. The family environment is amazing, the level of camaraderie is second to none. If your looking for a place to train, socialize and make great friends in the process this is the place. Love the gym, coach and the people at Apex BJJ!

Love, love Apex Academy and both of my kids attend here for the very first time since the grand opening and I have nothing but love for this establishment and Coach Cleidson Ramos. Coach Ramos is an amazing human being and he treats everyone like family. The kids had learned so much and it has only been less then a month. My kids are eager to go to class and learn from Coach Ramos. Everyone is respectful and kind here and we feel more like a family member then just an average paying customers.

Andre and Kastania are awesome at coaching the art. Other gyms are not as progressive and do not evolve the training curriculum. Andre and Kastania are great at staying in touch with local and national level BJJ scene. They are always looking for opportunities for students to compete in competitions and hold a number of BJJ seminars throughout the year. They have coached their two children in BJJ for over 10 years and understand how to teach complex submissions to young minds. Jason Wong is a high level competitor (Brown Belt) and kids instructor. He has his Black Belt in Judo, and teaches the kids more than just ground work. He ensures that the kids learn discipline and respect of the art. Coach Buck is a former college wrestler who is actively coaching in high school, middle school, and youth wrestling programs. This is THE place to train in Solano County if your focus is no gi Jiu Jitsu/submission grappling,…read moreyou're a wrestler who wants to supplement your training off-season, you're hoping to build self-defense skills, or you are simply looking for a really fun way to improve your cardio, strength, and mobility. There are so many reasons I have chosen to train at this gym. To summarize: 1. Coach Nick is well-versed in the constraints-led approach to training, a format that is quickly gaining support in the grappling community due to its capacity for promoting problem solving and creative thinking, rather than simply replicating "moves" that may or may not work in a particular situation (and often don't). I feel strongly that had I started my training years ago with this approach, I would have a much broader skill set. 2. The atmosphere at this gym is fun, supportive, and encourages a humble approach to learning, including by way of making "mistakes." As one of my daughter's school teachers loves to say, "Mistakes make your brain grow." If you don't make mistakes, are you actually learning anything? This is not a gym where you will be scoffed at for doing something "wrong." Trying new solutions and thinking outside of the box are encouraged. 3. At this gym you're not going to encounter silly rules disguised as tradition, like having to line up by belt rank, or lower belts not being "allowed" to ask upper belts to roll with them. Ego has no place here. 4. Classes are scheduled for an hour and you are actually going to get an hour of training. Classes start and end on time and you won't be directed to engage in a 10-15 minute warmup that is irrelevant to the skills of grappling and honestly a waste of time. Yes, we warm up, but it is by getting right to work. 5. This is a no gi only gym. You will not encounter anyone telling you that you have to train in the gi in order to learn Jiu Jitsu or promote in rank. Before this gym opened I was looking all over Solano and neighboring counties for a no gi gym. There weren't any...until Apex Grappling. In the time since this gym opened my skills have increased exponentially. I can't say enough good things about Coach Nick and Apex Grappling.

The location is beautifully decorated! It's a quiet office with a large hallway restroom, complimentary coffee and teas in the waiting room. Being within a Dr's office, it was clean and felt safe and serene. I received the 90 min hot stone massage and opted for the CBD oil add-on. My neck, shoulder and arm pain is something that comes and goes. At its worst, I feel radiating pain and achiness that can continue for several days and disturb my sleep. This time, instead of "enduring" it for several days (and whining to my husband) I booked an appt with Linda. Online booking is super easy and convenient. If you don't know what type of massage you want or need, it's OK! Because Linda will ask you and adjust as needed. When I told her my symptoms, she included some trigger points and stretches! Ahhhhhh She definitely focused on my neck, shoulder and arm (main complaint) but did not forget the rest of my body! ( I didn't realize my lower back and legs were also tight!) The CBD oil did not smell and was a thick oil. She told me not to shower tonight. The only bad thing about CBD oil is that if it gets in your hair, your hair looks super greasy. So bring a hat if you need to go somewhere afterward. Not sure if it was the CBD or the actual massage, but I slept really well and did not wake up multiple times, as I had been doing! My neck and shoulder felt so much better, very loose and I no longer felt the deep radiating ache! I plan to do bi-weekly appts with Linda, as part of my self-care routine!
