Visiting from out of state and running out of cheesy alien exhibits, we decided to stop in for a movie. First, I'm taking into consideration that this is a small town. Which usually means you don't have the best selection of theaters. And this particular theater isn't horrible. It's actually fairly clean and well kept. And the prices are somewhat less than other theaters. But it going downhill from there. Popcorn, sodas, and candy are still not cheap by any means. And everything is basically self-serve. Popcorn is dispensed from a huge glass box. Get your own butter. The popcorn was burned and stale. Fountain drinks were as expected. It's soda. The theater we were in did at least have updated and comfortable leather seating, which reclined. In the reclined position they were all loose. And felt as though you were rocking in the chair. For some reason, there is even a USB port in each seat. So you can keep your phone charged and make sure you don't miss a call or text during the movie. Clearly, sarcasm, but it's there, nonetheless. The theater was also poorly designed. Period. It's very narrow and long. There is a crazy amount of space between each row. Wasted space. Which further accentuates the fact that if in any other than the front two rows, feels as though you're super far from the smallish screen. Light protrudes from the entryway. The lights were not dimmed enough during the movie. Proving to be quite distracting for anybody in the back rows. Fortunately, we were able to move down a few rows to avoid what would have been an unbearable annoyance from the lights and tiny screen. Small screen combined with long narrow theater is not a good combo. Audio also wasn't great. Sounds like they were overdriving low-range PA speakers. Very bright and harsh sound from the horns. Surround effect was decent. There was some bass to be had; not bad there. Once again, I do get the small town theater expectations. But in the future, I'd just wait until we were in a better theater with a proper movie-going experience. Keeping in mind the reason why folks spend money on a movie in the first place is the experience. read more

I enjoyed coming to this theater at night because there were very few people here. Customer service was friendly for a bunch of teenagers working here. I came to see Terminator Genisys but before the show started, we played some video games in their arcade section. They have some games for kids, racing, and shooting games. The seating area was clean and so were the bathrooms. They have all you can drink Coke, and all you can eat popcorn!! read more

I'm not one to complain, I'm really not. I did enjoy the movie, the ice cream was good. But, we went and saw Star Wars this morning. We ordered our tickets online, and then even went to pick up the tickets a day early. We were all set for the 11am showing on Tuesday. I even called yesterday to see what time the doors would open. When we arrived around 10:30, there were three school buses out front. We went inside (the doors were still locked, even though i'd been told 10am), and they said, 'Oh the movie has been pushed back until 11:55 because of a field trip.' Never was this mentioned when we prepaid our ticket, or picked them up. The staff was nice, but many people were upset about this. It was rude and they said, 'oh we didn't know until this morning'. I'm sorry but we were all kids in school once. If you're going on a field trip 40 miles away, you're going to have to get a permission slip signed, days in advance. This was planned and we didn't have the extra time, but tickets are nonrefundable, so we had to wait. We get inside the theater and it was mostly empty. But, it was extremely loud. I've been to many movies in my life, but this one was so loud, it was hard to focus. This was a movie that I had to go to with a different relative, since the brother I used to go with to Star Wars passed away last year, and this was overall not a great experience, with the complete lack of consideration about moving the time, and then they lied to me about it. read more

I absolutely loved it! The concept of self served popcorn just blew my mind, my family and I were so excited. We saw Jurassic World and I can honestly say that we had the absolute best time! We were helped by a young lady named Alexis and she and her coworkers were very friendly and helpful. One of the girls even gave us fresh popcorn. The seats were super comfortable and even leaned back! The bathrooms were pretty big and very clean, I can tell that they spend time on it and actually care about the cleanliness. There was even an arcade that my son had fun playing in. After the movie we got some of their ice cream then went home. We will definitely come back when we come back into town! read more

After going to the icon cinema in Albuquerque NM, i expected a pleasant experience. That is not what I received here in Roswell, unfortunately. The staff was pleasant, but once we entered the actual theater I was disgusted. Half of the seats were quarantined off due to the roof falling in on them, which was evident by the large gaping hole in the ceiling above. The seats that were available weren't in that great of condition either. It just felt very run down. We got a refund on our money and went to a different theater where I wouldn't have to worry about the room falling down around, or on me. read more

I really like this cinema. Very big and it has a great game room to entertain kids. The whole self serve popcorn is good but it would be nice if they refilled it with fresh popcorn more often. I love that you can refill any drink or slush by yourself. The seating is very comfortable. I rather come here than Galaxy 8. read more

Comfortable seating. Over all set up is great. Love the idea of the self serve popcorn. They don't have that where we recently moved from ( in Michigan). Staff is always friendly. Seems clean. We started out excited about this new cinema. Coming from HTX, this is the closest we were gonna get to a Studio Movie Grill over here. They have $4 Monday movies---something unheard of in HTX. But-----during the summer and any holiday breaks, beware of this deal. It's not the crowds that bother us, it's the type of patron in these crowds!! People have their giant mega-phones out, are texting and FBing away DURING the movie. VERY annoying. Others bring their noisy, young children, toddlers and babies---during pg13 and rated R movies!!! Extremely annoying!!! These noisy families tromp up and down the aisles numerous times to get refills on their cokes & popcorn. The kids get bored and start bugging the parents loudly. If it's not that, they're using iPad minis and kicking our seats from behind. And---yes---I can complain about this---I have 2 grown kids---they were difficult at times---but we NEVER took them somewhere that throb would be annoying all the other patrons nor did we allow it!!!!!!!!! I don't think we're coming back here anymore. Galaxy 8 is far better. read more

I am writing this review based on Icon Cinema...not based on the kind of people in this town that attend the theater, as did previous reviewer Ann E. I was saddened to see Anne E.'s review of this theater based on the type and mentality of the people that attend the theater rather than the theater itself. Seems as though her review would have been better submitted with the City of Roswell. As far as the theater goes, it is very, very nice. It is the nicest in this little town. The theater is always super clean, the staff are fast, friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere is neat and the selection of movies and movie times is good. We love the free drink and popcorn refills and the variety of food and drink items. The seating inside the theater are leather, reclining with plenty of leg room. I live North west of town and could get to Allen Theaters in about 6 minutes, but we drive 15 minutes to go to Icon because of the ammedities that I have mentioned. Never once have I had a bad experience at Icon, with or without my children. One thing previous reviewer Ann E did not mention, is that Icon makes it VERY obvious and clear regarding their wishes with use of cell phones and crying children during the movie. They ask that someone notify management immediately so that the issue can be taken care of. Icon states that the use of cell phones during the movie or crying children causes you to be removed from the auditorium with no refunds. Perhaps Ann E was too busy gawking at the patron to actually get up and notify management. Again, I feel that the type of people attending the theater should have nothing to do with the rating of the theater itself. As for me and my family and friends, we will continue attending Icon for our movie going experiences. read more
