I am a complete rookie in photography, but I learned pretty quickly that if I want specific shots I need the right lens to capture it. The initial investment of equipment was pretty high and since I'm not even sure I like the hobby yet, renting is a good option to try out new lenses with the camera I already have. I made the reservation online on a Sunday, and I went to go pick up the lens the next day. They are located on the 3rd floor of an office building. It's not your typical storefront but it was very easy to park and find the office. The lens was stored nicely and was in great condition. Ultimately I was really happy with the product received given the price point. The website was very easy to use and the reservation was quick to make and pick up. My only suggestion would be to offer extended hours maybe one or two days a week. I had to take time off of work to go pick up and drop off the lens during my rental period. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with Aperturent Dallas. I placed an online rental reservation on March 23 for a insured 3 day rental of a Nikon D7000 and two Nikon lens. The reason for my rental is to decide if its a camera I want to purchase for my own photography business. I am just in the beginning phases, rentals are my only option right now. I give Aperturent Dallas 1 star for their awesome website, and the ease of using it. No additional stars because of their practices. I received an email same day I placed the order from the office manager asking for a copy of my ID and credit card used, which is pretty standard in my past experience of renting from other places like Arlington Camera. On March 24th I received a second email asking for a bunch more information: In order to process this order, our insurance company and verification department will need some additional information due to the value of the items: 1. Do you have work or school email address? If so please provide it. 2. Do you have any other telephone number associated to you? (land line, work number) 3. Could you tell us about you work? Company, Job title, phone number 4. Do you have a personal or business website? Unfortunately I'm not in school or working, and I couldn't answer any of these questions because my photography business is not established. I read thru all the rental information and even the agreement before I placed my order. Now because I can't answer these questions they can't rent me the equipment, so I asked for a refund because my card was authorized on the 23rd when I placed the original order. The information requested is silly when the already have my ID and credit card, and I'm signing a rental agreement. The company needs to be more transparent on who they will rent to and the requirements instead of authorizing a charge then requesting a bunch of information I guarantee you not everyone is able to supply. read more

Postives- Easy pick up off the Tollway in an office building. Maria was great and helpful. Pricing is better than others. I got the Nikon D5500 with an 85 mm lens that was like new. Found out about their service online recently for an air show shoot. Did it all on my mobile and within a day I had a great 50-500mm Sigma lens for my Nikon! Excellent variety of equipment and pricing is fair. Customer service is OK but don't expect anything special. They are there to ensure the products are available and in working order. I love renting here! I have rented on two occasions thus far. Let's just say I prefer driving from Arlington to their Addison location to rent equipment then rent from anywhere else between these two cities. I love being able to see all the rental options online and seeing what is available at the moment. It's a pretty easy process or seems much easier than other rental places. read more

I love this place! I rented a Canon C100 plus lens and accessories. The website was easy to use. When I went in, it was a delight! Clean place in an office building, parking was easy. The personnel were very friendly and knowledgeable. The equipment was clean and worked perfectly. The prices seem fair. Ok so..I Was looking to start a business relationship with a professional camera equipment rental Agency but nothing is professional about Aperturent. They are your typical equipment rental agency. They pick and choose who they want to rent & looks as if they won't rent to my kind. I have a huge wedding coming up this following Saturday. Which is my first & one of my biggest weddings thus far!!! I own a Nikon D850 & needed a second camera for the job so i decided to go with the D5 to rent. So I browsed through there website & ordered the items I know would create great production for my gig. NOTHING AT CHECK OUT SAYS "You will require full retail deposit for each item selected". It only says a deposit is required when you order high end equipment. These words "A certificate of insurance or a deposit will need to be provided in order to rent this item." will be right next to the item if it was required. In this case the equipment I requested didn't require neither deposit or insurance EVEN THOUGH I HAVE INSURANCE !!!! I even emailed them my updated insurance as proof of address when it didn't require insurance lol!! I DID EVERYTHING THEY ASKED ME TO VERIFY i sent them a picture of my license, the debit card i used to place the order, & proof of address. I even sent them a picture of me holding my license lbs!! I requested for the items to be mailed by April 20 Friday with next day shipping. It was confirmed via email of the shipping but once I logged into my ONLINE ACCOUNT the scheduled shipping was April 30th Monday. So even if they did decide to rent to me I STILL would have been assed out & they would have shipped the equipment a week later. That is ridiculous !!!!!!! MY MAIN POINT ABOUT THIS REVIEW IS THESE CAMERA EQUIPMENT AGENCIES ARE SO QUICK TO TAKE YOUR MONEY FROM YOUR ACCOUNT ONCE YOU PLACE THE ORDER!!! THEN YOU HAVE TO WAIT 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK BECAUSE OF THERE SELFISH MISLEADING/LYING WEBSITES THAT DON'T BE SPECIFIC ABOUT ORDERS!!! MY MONEY DIDN'T HAVE "SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION"! MY BANK WASN'T LIKE HOLD ON Aperturent LET ME VERIFY THIS TRANSACTION. It was available for you guys to take and guess what you guys took it and now i'm broke because until my money returns. Now i'm out of a big GIG & have to wait up to 5 days for my money to return to my account. SUGGESTION TO YOUR COMPANY.... You guys should wait until your done "verifying" to take the money from your customers. AGAIN..... All orders should be verified before Aperturent is allowed to take from peoples bank account. You guys got is ass backwards and it is very inconvenient for the ones you take money from but don't let rent & make them have to wait up until 5 days.
