Initially, I felt confident based on the firm's marketing and the promises made during the intake process. However, after I signed the retainer agreement, communication became a significant issue. Emails, phone calls, and text messages often went unanswered, and I frequently had to follow up multiple times just to receive a response. As the injured worker, I was simply trying to stay informed and actively involved in my own case. I don't think anyone had a greater interest in achieving a favorable outcome than I did. Despite that, I often felt like my concerns were being dismissed rather than addressed. One conversation with attorney Ruben Montoya particularly stood out. After I had made several attempts to contact the office regarding concerns about my case, I finally received a call. During that conversation, I felt more criticized for trying to communicate than supported as a client. I was repeatedly told that "it's not instant soup" and that he was "not a magician." While I understand that legal matters take time, those comments left me feeling dismissed and unheard. I also experienced long delays in receiving medical treatment. At one point, I went more than six months without treatment related to my work injury. The doctor I was referred to was approximately an hour from my home, and appointments often involved waiting for extended periods before being seen. When I raised concerns about retaliation and other issues affecting my claim, I was told another attorney would contact me to discuss them, but that never happened. I also attempted to discuss adding additional injuries to my claim and did not receive meaningful follow-up. Throughout the case, I felt like I was constantly advocating for myself instead of having an attorney actively advocating for me. The firm's advertisements emphasize fighting for injured workers and making sure clients do not leave money on the table. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I did not feel supported, prioritized, or adequately represented during a very difficult period in my life. Ultimately, I lost confidence in the representation and made the decision to hire another law firm. This review reflects my personal experience. Throughout the process, Mr. Richards and his paralegal Mr. Arnold Marquez were able to provide the family member with timely answers to questions, especially since "online researches" (I don't get why people take whatever they see online as gospel) often generated contradicting advices and added to confusion. During several critical moments, the family member being represented was misled by "advices" from "friends". It was Arnold who provided timely clarification, explained one's rights, and eased the family member from a severe panic attack. Without them, I would've been overwhelmed and at a loss on how to ease the family member's ceaseless worries. Ultimately (after an expectedly lengthy but well-managed process), Mr. Richards and Mr. Marquez successfully defended my family members' legal rights, and the case was settled with appropriate compensations and necessary medical treatment. My case was just sitting there for months under Carolina management until I had a deposition which of course was pushed by my employer's attorney not mine. The attorney who helped me which I'll add was not my assigned attorney, was a retired one very knowledgeable and kind. She told me my case was being mishandled in a very unorganized manner, she included that in her report to the case manager. Several months later fast forward to now I found out by chance not by their notification! that they have switched or merged to another firm called Michael Burgis and Associates, very suddenly and suspicious. Now I don't even know who my attorney is, they won't even give me his name or schedule me an appoinment to speak with him. Everytime I call their office, whether is the old one or the new one I get the same person everytime who guards the case manager and attorneys like they are the president of the United States. He blames the previous staff from mishandling my case and makes it sound like he is concerned and caring now, which I know they aren't.
