We met with him and immediately stopped our search for representation. He made us feel welcomed and like they could help us with our accident case, but that stopped there. From there communications were limited at best, we would call and not get call backs for days. We would text and nothing. After numerous attempts and a final voicemails being left in frustration, Sergio would call or the case manager Joanna would call and we would ask our questions or try to get info and were told she would find out from the attorney and never got back to us. This happened a few times. Several times we thought to seek other counsel but they would call us back comfort us again and then back to silence. Every question we asked was met with, "I will talk to the attorney and get back to you" to which the cycle began again. When I expressed to the receptionist I was frustrated with lack of communication, she did not even acknowledge what I said, she just transferred me to another voicemail. The Investigator was asking us to do invesitagive work for him and when we advised that our schedules were busy to get what they asked for they went dark. This was after we already did alot of work before asking them to help us. We said this several times to both Joanna and Sergio and both said they would ask the attonrey and advise us of next steps. All information provided by them was INCONSISTENT AND CONTRADICTORY We asked about medical treatment or anything we can be doing and they told us they would handle everything to only find out that nothing was being done about injuries. After 3 weeks of absolutely nothing (but a waste of time), the Attorney called us and asked us what questions we have about when we were led to beleive the Attorney has questions for us. She then told us that we refused to get the vidoe footage and therefore arent able to move forward, WHAT?!?! Just like that. Erin was the attorney that contacted us and she was very combative, accusatory and told us it was out fault. When I tried to explain what actually took place in the conversations she told us she would be closing the case and withdrawing counsel and hung up on me. You would think that when people are reaching out in a desperate emergency situation that they would be treated with more kindness but most imporantly professionalism. Initially, I felt confident based on the firm's marketing and the promises made during the intake process. However, after I signed the retainer agreement, communication became a significant issue. Emails, phone calls, and text messages often went unanswered, and I frequently had to follow up multiple times just to receive a response. As the injured worker, I was simply trying to stay informed and actively involved in my own case. I don't think anyone had a greater interest in achieving a favorable outcome than I did. Despite that, I often felt like my concerns were being dismissed rather than addressed. One conversation with attorney Ruben Montoya particularly stood out. After I had made several attempts to contact the office regarding concerns about my case, I finally received a call. During that conversation, I felt more criticized for trying to communicate than supported as a client. I was repeatedly told that "it's not instant soup" and that he was "not a magician." While I understand that legal matters take time, those comments left me feeling dismissed and unheard. I also experienced long delays in receiving medical treatment. At one point, I went more than six months without treatment related to my work injury. The doctor I was referred to was approximately an hour from my home, and appointments often involved waiting for extended periods before being seen. When I raised concerns about retaliation and other issues affecting my claim, I was told another attorney would contact me to discuss them, but that never happened. I also attempted to discuss adding additional injuries to my claim and did not receive meaningful follow-up. Throughout the case, I felt like I was constantly advocating for myself instead of having an attorney actively advocating for me. However, after peering through my documents, I was impressed by her legal knowledge in identifying documents before even opening it. As the encounter went on, Kim started to be more receptive as the ice slowly broke. It finally culminated when she asked the attorney, Mr. Homen, himself to come and shake my hand. Alas, a man whose I can attach a face to. He seem very nice and genuine upon my handshake and introduction of him.
