(Who ever heard of a doctor's appointment starting early???) The doctor explained what she was doing step by step and took the time (no eye-rolling) to answer all of my questions. She was good humored and extremely tolerant. The only problem was not her or the facility, but the US healthcare system. It was impossible to know the price of hearing aids until the doctors and the insurance companies duke it out. But I fear that will be the same anywhere you go. Don't let it stop you from finding out what you need.

One call, a young lady answered dthe phone and said they will call you ASAP. She said before the days end. I asked what time does your day end and she said at 5:00 pm. I said it's 4:57 right now so I guess they won't be calling me today. She said that is what I have written here to tell people. I thought how u professional that conversation was and I said ok I'll call back in the morning. I called and finally got to speak with Annie, the young lady at the front desk. I explained what I needed and told her about my needing a hearing aid as mine needed repairs and if the Adjuster agrees to the aid that is needed, then there is no sense in spending more money to do the repârs on this one. Annie agreed. Monday, June 17, I called the office to speak with Annie and she tells me that she left a message with the Adjuster, but she has not called me back. Approximately 10 minutes afterwards, I receive a call from another young lady telling me that they no longer do Workers" Compensation. I said I was there a month ago and no one said anything to me, as a matter of fact I get literature telling me that I'm dues for a new hearing aid. I said not that you left me high and dry, I'm without a hearing aid. Her response was that's the way it is. In the past months, I received letters asking me to come in for a check and check the. New technology that Starkey has (?Starkey Genesis AI). I am retired and pretty much can move my schedule to meet most appointments. On the other hand as we get older we loose family and friends and so I was not able to come in sooner. Dr, you should read your own literature and see how phony/unprofessional it must sound to you. Telling patients the importance of hearing and how it can change your life. How do you apply those words to me, knowing how difficult it is to get another audiologist that accepts Workers' Comp and get an early appointment. Your not a sales person selling shirts, your suppose to be a professiônal (doctor). Some people believe that if you're getting anything from Workers' Comp, your getting something for nothing -- is that what you think about me? I've found Clare Villanueva to be everything I want in an audiologist. She's patient, takes the time to understand your hearing loss. She suggests the best solution which is not always the most expensive option. When I had some difficulty with an aid one evening I contacted her the next day. Instead of having me wait until the following week, she managed to squeeze me into her very tight schedule that day. I wish all my experiences with doctors had been as productive as it's been with her. She works out of two locations, one just off Washington Square Park in Manhattan and the other in Brooklyn, both easy to reach via public transportation.

I went into see Dr. Portnoy because I was having severe issues breathing through my nose. I had…read morebeen suffering for 12 years with a deviated septum and a bone spur preventing my nasal passageways from getting enough air. I finally set up a consultation and met with Dr. Portnoy. I have to say, I love his disposition and bedside manner. He is very thorough in his evaluation and we discussed the next steps in order to see what all was really going on. I received my CAT scan, went in for my second visit with Dr. P and we scheduled the surgery to correct my severely deviated septum. I am now around two months out of surgery and I have to say it was the best thing I've ever done in my life. I wish I would've done it sooner. He is one of the best doctors ever!!! He called the next day to check on me and make sure I was feeling OK. The surgery went smoothly and he reiterated that I had a severely deviated septum that that he straightened. I can honestly say I breathe so much more freely and my quality of life has substantially improved. I'm so happy to say that I am no longer the "tissue girl" always blowing her nose. Follow his post operative directions completely and you will have amazing results like I did. I would recommend him 10 million times over. He is absolutely amazing. From the moment he saw me, by just looking at my throat and feeling around the mass he said to me: I think most likely what you have is a squamous cell of the throat. He helped expedite de biopsy and imaging, which confirmed the results. He also helped expedite the referral to my preferred cancer center, where I just underwent surgery 1 week prior, which seems to have been curative. I cannot thank him enough.
