Her true professionalism exuded in handling the tests that she conducted, as well the informative session that ensued. She discussed all the appropriate hearing instruments, their pros and cons, technical specifications, and cost structures. She took all her time doing this, tinged with patience and without any hurrying or rushing. My experience was so positive that I thought it was my duty to share it with prospective patients. I paid for them (5000) and the receptionist was suppose to send it the form to the insurance company. So after a few months, I called the insurance and they never got the claim. So I called her and told her what happened and her reaction was 'I don't know what kind of game they are playing' so this went back and forth a few times, but finally they did get it. More time went by, but I never got a check. I called the insurance company and they sent it to Servedio.. Now I call the office and the receptionist, very angry girl, denies they got a check and 'Am I calling her a liar?' i was really shocked by that--these are fighting words and not at all what I intended. I couldn't calm her down..she was ready to fight. And guess what ? They did get my check. It was put into some account of theirs and they did send me the money, but it was 9 months later and a lot of phone calls and anguish. But, the most insulting, hurtful part was when I went back to see him for a check up, the first thing he said to me was that I have to learn to be 'nicer to people'. He had no interest in hearing what I had to say. Maybe he is a hothead too. There are a lot of audiologists out there...go someplace else!

The office is filled with many patients as a result. In my 67 years, Dr. Marcus is the best audiologist that I have ever encountered. I have never met an audiologist who is at the same time so tremendously knowledgeable and caring. In every dimension of her work, it's obvious how much she loves her profession. That translates into commitment to her patients, whether that involves the immediate tests/diagnostics, or the ongoing attention to the medical issue. Something that stood out to me is the medical responsiveness of the practice. Any medical issue is treated immediately. There are no "later" appointments in emergency. It is easy to make an appointment as well as to follow up. That is critical to care. At a time when many practices do not offer "same-day" appointments, this practice treats the whole person and does so right away. Yes, but the sound was not crisp & often could hear sound but not well. When my brother lost one of the hearing aids, I had to find a great place that understood her needs & truly cared about the outcome. I wasn't sure that was possible. I did some research online and made an apt at Ahren's. We were greeted warmly by both the receptionist and waited a short while to meet Kathy. Kathy took us into her office for a very thorough exam- something we had not experienced before at other places. There be an exam, yes, but not like this. Kathy immediately noticed that wax build up was an issue, certainly adding to the hearing loss. She cleaned the ears but could not clean one ear as well and sent us to the ENT to clean the wax. She gave my mom a loaner hearing aid until we ordered her new ones. You'd think this would be common before fitting for hearing aids but it was not what we'd experienced. We went back with the cleaned ears and further testing continued. Kathy discussed all the options and we decided on pair. We also got the phone & tv accessory. I cannot tell you how happy my mom is now. She's 91 and has a whole new world opened to her because of Ahren's and Kathy. We highly recommend Ahren's for you or your family member. I had high hopes when I made my appointment. I said that I needed hearing aides and provided all…read moreof my insurance information, repeating that I required hearing aids. I explained that I was disable and used a power wheelchair and asked if the office was accessible. They assured me that it was but that I'd need to go to the concierge at the building next door and they would bring me to the office "the back way" . When I got there I was taken up two small flights of steps using a portable ramp (and nearly tipped over backwards on the ramp going up the first steps as the incline was too steep) and was taken to a room the size of a medium sized walk in closed. Once in the room it was obvious that the wheelchair would NOT fit through the door. The owner asked if I could sit in an office chair and they would roll me into the office. I said yes. Only then did they tell me that the were not in network for hearing aids using my insurance, but that they could do a hearing evaluation, and I'd have to get hearing aids somewhere else if I wanted to use those benefits. I asked if I'd need to have another hearing test at the place dispensing hearing aids. They said yes. I told them that I wasn't interested in paying for a test that wouldn't be useful to the process, and that I had been misinformed that the office was accessible, that it clearly was not, and that I had specifically said twice that I needed hearing aids, and was clear in that I used a power wheelchair. The owner told me that "many wheelchairs fit throught the small doorway", but acknowledged that this had been a problem in the past. I was furious, but kept calm and said I had to leave before I became unpleasant, I was so angry. They apologized. I wasted all of a morning and part of an afternoon. On the way out through the back on the ramp again I almost tipped trying to go down the ramp when the ramp slipped down from one step to the next and my chair very fortunately did not tip. I sucsessfully got down the second set of stairs but not without fearing greatly for my safety. It could have ended with a serious injury. This situation was more than inexcusable. First not telling me that they were not in network for hearing aids before came resulted in an absolutely wasted trip, which for someone in a power chair is extremely difficult. Being frankly intentionally lied to about accessibility, and almost being seriously injured by inadequate adaptive equipment and negligence/ignorance on the part of the connecting building staff. I will be making an ADA complaint with the city and whatever government agency are relevant about the audiology/hearing practice as well as the building next door, so that others don't have the same experience or risk injury. This is inexcusible.

I've been going to Englewood ENT for years, but I've come to know the office very well over the…read morepast few months. While I've seen many practitioners here, I work mostly with Dr. Ojo. You see...for the majority of my life, I've had chronic sinus infections (like 3 to 4 a year), and I finally made a huge decision that will benefit for years to come. Before I talk too much about the care here, I just want to shout out to the office staff at Englewood ENT. They are always accommodating, and the online appointment feature makes it a breeze to schedule things online. By the time I was through with my procedure, the staff got to know me personally - and that is something you need when going through an intense medical procedure. While all the doctors here are wonderful, Dr. Ojo is really special. Her bedside manner is calm and informative, and she patiently explains everything while you ask questions. Over the years we've gotten to know each other a little more (especially since I saw her the most this year), and not only is she an awesome doctor, but a wonderful person, too. (I know that being a great physician is top priority in every medical case, but it doesn't hurt to support someone who is genuinely awesome!) My sinus journey is a long one. As I mentioned, I grew up having chronic sinus infections - perhaps one or two per season. Most people only get one or two of them in their lives. I would fall into this pattern of seeing urgent care doctors, they would give me a z-pac which wouldn't be strong enough, and the infection would be reoccurring. By the end of winter, I would be so badly infected that I would go into Dr. Ojo's office and she would kindly and playfully admonish me on why it took me so long to get to her office. This year, she picked up on this pattern and we realized that for the past 5 years or so, I would come to her every year (nearly to the same day, around Valentine's Day) with a terrible sinus infection that's brewed all year. She's always mentioned that I should consider getting my deviated septum fixed, but I was always scared of the surgery. This year, however, I happened to have five sinus infections from November to April (plus the flu thrown in there), and Dr. Ojo recommended a CT scan to see what was going on. Turn's out, my deviated septum was way worse than anyone could have imagined - it was so bad that she asked if I got into a car accident or got hit in the nose with something. After many years of dealing with infections and antibiotics, I finally made the jump and entrusted Dr. Ojo to do the surgery - and I am so glad I did! It is an outpatient surgery (you can see my review of the place on my profile), and you will be recovering for about 10 days, plus follow up appointments in the weeks to come. Most people associate sinus surgery with black eyes and a swollen face - not so with Dr. Ojo! She has the magic touch and my post-op went great without complications. Most people couldn't even tell I had surgery, even days after it was all said and done. It is pretty amazing that she knows how to perform such an intense surgery in a compact and delicate area. I am officially 9 weeks post-op and have never felt better! I can BREATHE through both nostrils, which I've never been able to do in my life! And I am SO ready to get a common cold like everyone else! If you are consider such a surgery, I can't recommend Dr. Ojo enough. She really changed my life for the better! Not to mention, this whole thing reminds us of how important it is to see an ENT when it comes to things like colds and allergies.

This place has somewhat limited insurance options but I took a chance and paid out of pocket based on some of the positive reviews I saw and I was glad I came here as the whole place was well organized, clean and the wait time was minimal. The staff was also very friendly and well informed. My followup appointment with the audiologist was also without fuss and I was in and out very quickly and I got the results right away. This place is definitely very good so you know you'll get quality care, but just make sure you check in advance to make sure you have a good idea of insurance options just to make sure you don't end up paying more than you expect to. The folks here are very helpful with that.
