My experience with AmeriFreight and Mickey Blasingame was terrible. Communication and follow up were extremely poor, despite making it clear that my wife and I were on a very tight timeline for our interstate move from Virginia to Texas.
I am a retired disabled United States Marine, and I never felt that my circumstances, timeline, or concerns were taken seriously. For a company that uses "We Move America" and presents such a patriotic image, my experience as a veteran certainly did not reflect that image.
I was being asked to pay approximately $2,800 to transport my car roughly 1,380 miles when I was finding pricing elsewhere around the $1,000 range. Of course I questioned a price that was nearly three times what I expected.
AmeriFreight is a broker, so I also wanted to know exactly which carrier would actually be transporting my vehicle before agreeing to anything. I wanted to research that carrier myself through Google, Yelp, the Better Business Bureau, safety information, ratings, and customer reviews before trusting them with my car. I do not believe that is an unreasonable request whatsoever. It is basic due diligence.
Instead, getting straightforward information felt like a fight. I was not demanding that AmeriFreight magically produce a $1,000 carrier. I wanted them to keep looking for a reputable carrier at a reasonable price and communicate with me while doing it.
When I gave constructive criticism about the lack of communication, questioned the pricing, and continued asking about the actual carrier that would transport my vehicle, my order was ultimately canceled. I have the email from AmeriFreight confirming the cancellation of order #25636543.
What disappointed me even more was that Mickey had spoken with me about Christianity, prayers, and faith. I initially appreciated those conversations. After the way this situation was handled, those words felt completely hollow to me. If you are going to bring faith and prayer into conversations with customers, I believe your actions and the way you treat those customers should reflect those values, especially when they raise legitimate concerns or constructive criticism.
Customers have every right to question pricing, know who will actually possess and transport their vehicle, independently research that carrier, and expect timely communication. Constructive criticism about customer service should not result in a customer feeling like they are the problem for asking questions.
I needed a company that would respect my timeline, communicate, provide transparency about the actual carrier, and genuinely work to find a reputable transporter at a reasonable price. That was not my experience with AmeriFreight or Mickey Blasingame.
I would not recommend AmeriFreight based on my experience. Their patriotic image and words about faith did not match the customer service I received as a retired disabled United States Marine.
Zero stars if Yelp allowed it.
