Was this statue moved? I thought it had been removed. Are people checking in at a nonexistent landmark?

Blucifer is just such a wild sculpture and has such a morbid history around it (Blucifer literally killed the artist when a piece of it that the artist was installing fell and punctured him right in his femoral artery). It's truly so odd in both placement and vibe. You can't miss it as you leave the Denver airport, you will always pass by it. It's located essentially in the middle giant island of a highway up on a hill. It's a whole royal blue colored mustang horse rearing up on its hind legs with red eyes that shine red at all hours of the day. Truly a devil horse LOL! It's definitely a sight to see, but I'm disappointed in the fact that you can't get close to it. There's no pathway to drive up close to it like a tourist stop and like I mentioned, with its located in the middle of a highway, there is really no option to pull off to the side to stop and check it out, so it also feels a bit impossible to appreciate it and take a good picture of it! Given how excited I was to see it for myself, this was a huge bummer that I had been anticipating being able to get close to it, but ultimately falling very very short of that. Still such a sight to behold though!

And yes, his nickname is "Blucifer" and - no kidding - he killed the artist. Yes, in 2006, a huge portion of the sculpture fell and injured the sculptor. There is no stopping or standing or parking on Peña Boulevard. There is no parking nearby. Getting to this statue is a PITA. The local cops will definitely try to move you along. If they could just have some sort of "15 minute parking only" nearby, that would be awesome. [Review 18980 overall - 80 in Colorado - 2504 of 2022.]

It is said that they unveil a brand new theme each year and this year's theme appears to be focused on some Eastern cultures such as cherry blossom and bamboo forest with pandas. Not that I have been to many lights shows and yet I must say that I have never seen anything quite like this as far as my recollection is accurate. In its 12-acre land, the installations of lantern lights are everywhere. After 8:30pm or so when it's dark, the illuminations from the lanterns are glowing brighter than Las Vegas' illuminations (LOL - why am I comparing this to Las Vegas!!) According to the park's website, some of the sculptures are 23-foot tall (such as the cherry blossom gate.) It's currently open from Wednesday through Sunday until October 5th. And last night's was one of the adult-only nights where you must be 21+ to enter (I believe the next and last such night is Sept 17th. And this writing is as of late August of 2025.) I am already curious as to what the next year's theme is going to be. There is a centralized bar, some food vendors, a stage where a performer performs, and a DJ booth. Great for family time, girls' night or date night. Helpful staff were working tirelessly to assist all visitors. Although about 1,300 tickets were sold last night, it was never super jammed packed. There is still time to visit this enchanting light show. Not only for the locals but definitely one of the must-visit attractions for out-of-staters as well.

The interiors are very in line with the natural landscapes. We got a beautiful mountain facing room on the 15th floor. It was the highlight of my trip!! They had room service everyday. Besides offering a plethora of choices for nice restaurants and bars, they have a really cool temperature controlled indoor and outdoor pool with a lazy river and multiple hot tubs for soaking. The relache spa is located right next to The fitness center overlooking the pool. The spa is a MUST!!! I learned during my stay that if you are a gold or above status with Marriott, you have free access to the spa amenities without having to actually book an appointment. The amenities include a steam room, cold plunge shower and a relaxing lounge area within the spa. It was my second trip to this property, a lot has been updated since my 1st. Can't wait to be back.

Bed Bug PSA: I…read morewanted to put this PSA out there for anyone staying at Gaylord Rockies. My family and I started our mini summer vacay there on Saturday May 30 and we woke up to bed bugs in our room Sunday morning. I have been a loyal Marriott member, so I scooped up the bug in a cup with water, brought it to the front desk and assumed since the rooms are over $500 a night that we would be taken care of and treated with dignity and respect. We were not. The manager (Alex) refused to speak to me twice and sent the security manager (Antwan) to deal with me instead. He essentially said I can't be sure it was a bed bug but that he was sure it was a tick from my dog. When I asked for the bug back to consult a pest control professional he lied and said it was sent to their engineer to give to their ecolab team. When I asked them to bring up the engineer and asked him for the bug he was honest and up front that management would not provide it to him. The security manager then had to admit that the disposed of the live bed bug I gave to them. So I brought up a dead one that was on the desk in our room and he crumpled it up in the paper I provided, turned it to dust, and then put the paper and dead bug remains in his pocket. We obviously cut our stay short and left the same day, but I know not everyone has that option. So for any of you staying, please do not make the same mistake I made in trusting the Marriott name. If you find a bed bug, follow these instructions and DO NOT SURRENDER YOUR PROOF BECAUSE THEY WILL DESTROY IT: You are legally entitled to a full refund if a hotel room has bed bugs. Because hotels are required to maintain basic hygiene, most properties will refund your stay rather than risk a bad review, a lawsuit, or a health department investigation. The most effective way to secure a refund and protect yourself involves taking a few critical steps: 1. Gather Immediate Evidence Before moving or unpacking, take clear, well-lit photos and videos of the bugs, your bites, and the mattress seams. If possible, trap a specimen in a sealed bag or container. Without clear proof, staff may mistakenly attribute your bites to mosquitoes or other insects. 2. Secure Your Luggage Bed bugs can easily travel home in your suitcases. Move your bags away from the bed and upholstered furniture, and seal anything that was exposed in plastic bags. 3. Demand a Refund and Relocation Notify management, present your evidence, and demand an immediate, full refund for your room. Request to be moved to a clean room, but do not assume a neighboring room is entirely safe, as infestations often spread. 4. Escalate to Corporate or Dispute the Charge If the local hotel management refuses to issue a refund, contact the corporate customer service line.

About a 5-minute walk to check-in/luggage drop area. -Note for cat owners: There's a lot of hiding spots for cats, so if you have an early flight, set aside extra time to herd them out. Luckily, one of our cats hid in the bathroom the entire time and the other has decent recall and would come out of underneath the bed when called.
