I only discovered this after receiving a notification from my debit card showing that the original amount had been updated to include a tip. I was immediately caught off guard, especially since I did not dine in--I went through the drive-thru. I waited for the restaurant to open so I could call and address the issue, as adding a tip without authorization felt like theft to me. When I called and asked to speak with a manager, the hostess or one of the waitresses hung up on me. I called back and could hear them laughing. I again asked to speak with a manager, and once again they laughed and hung up on me. I called the store several more times, and eventually one employee told me to call back between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m., then hung up on me again. When I finally spoke with a manager at the time I was given, she listened to my concerns and informed me that she would refund my entire order and speak with the employee who added the unauthorized tip. While I appreciate the refund, the way I was treated throughout this situation was extremely unprofessional and disappointing. I was a loyal customer, and this experience made me feel taken advantage of. Thankfully, I have alerts set up on my debit card to notify me of any updates to purchases. It makes me wonder how many other customers may not notice unauthorized changes to their bills. Because of this experience, I will not be returning to this restaurant, and I will be sharing my experience with others.
