She was geographically inconvenient from me and had some other dates. We kept in touch, and I happened to have a trivia tournament in Towson. We coordinated to meet at Nordstrom cafe for coffee at Towson Mall. Date was pretty good, and she mentioned a play for Purim. She was Jewish and was her local synagogue in Pikesville. I was game to go. We decided to eat here beforehand as we weren't sure of the food situation. I got enchiladas, which was solid here. It's a smaller place with cute Mexican decor. Service was good. Afterward, we went, and we could've gotten away with eating dinner at the Purim event as there was plenty of food. I ate some there too, so I was quite full after everything. In summary, although we could've eaten there, it was an opportunity to try a good local Mexican restaurant.

It was light and airy with lots more tables. Fatima said we could sit wherever we wanted. We choose a table close to the front door because it was quieter. Fatima kindly turned done the music when I asked if she could. Fatima took excellent care of us! We like that the restaurant is BYOB. We enjoyed the following for our dinners: Ground Beef Burrito, Bistec Encebollado, Chicken Enchiladas with Salsa Verde, and the Chile Relleno. All of our meals were freshly prepared and tasted delicious. The portions were very generous. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at El Trovador!

If you want authentic Mexican food, great ambiance, and great service this is your place to come and enjoy a wonderful meal. We had the grilled Shrimp meal with rice and beans and Chiliaquilles con Hugo o carne. We also ordered the Quesabirrias to go. I'm still craving that delicious meal, I even brought home a menu for the next visit and I live in Silver Spring, MD. Give this restaurant a try you will not regret it. Oh when you come, find a table, look at the menu, then order at the counter. Your food will be brought to you. I appreciated the cook/chef from behind the grill asking me how was the food.

The al pastor tacos platter was tasty, the pineapple on it was the win for me. I tried the birria tacos but they lacked flavor depth, like they were seasoned but it was not bold- the taco meat and the dip. The meat inside the birria was also chunks which was different than I'd seen (shredded). The churros were a hit with what I thought was dulce de leche sauce. What a disappointment…read more We drove a considerable distance to try Don Tigre Mexican Cantina after seeing all the hype on social media, and it ended up being a complete waste of time and money. The drinks came out quickly, but the food took over 45 minutes to arrive. When it finally did, much of it was cold--not even warm. The biggest issue, however, was the food itself. Everything was incredibly bland and lacked flavor. Mexican food is known for bold seasoning and vibrant flavors, but there was nothing memorable about any of the dishes we ordered. The service was equally disappointing. To top it off, gratuity is automatically added to the bill. While restaurants have the right to set their own policies, it certainly felt frustrating considering the level of service we received. My honest recommendation would be for Don Tigre to stick to what appears to be driving its popularity--the nightlife atmosphere, social media appeal, drinks, and appetizers. If you're looking for a place to have cocktails, take pictures, and enjoy the vibe, you may have a better experience than we did. However, the entrées were overpriced for the quality of the food, and the customer service did not justify the cost. Social media may bring people through the door, but good food and good service are what bring them back. Unfortunately, this experience fell short on both. Long wait times, cold food, bland flavors, overpriced meals, and poor service made this a place I won't be returning to or recommending.

Upon entry, several empty tables tables with dirty dishes- not a great sign of things to come. Unfortunately, service was pretty much non existent once we placed our food order. No one checked on us and water glasses and refill pitcher were empty without attention. Flour tortillas were brought to the table when corn were ordered...... My colleagues enjoyed their cadillac margaritas. "Tableside" guac was guac prepared and brought out with a few chips into. It was tasty but should be advertised as prepared tableside. Burrito bowls were plentiful but were overcooked and lacked much flavor. Chips were ok- salsa was borderline jarred flavor. Mocajete presentation was interesting and portion was large enough for 2-3 people . Served in a large heavy stone bowl, the meat/shrimp were tasteless and shrimp were cheap precooked ones. Again gratuity added despite the dismal service. okay for a meh meal- keep your expectations on the lower side for overall food quality and service levels.
