    Corn cake

We stopped in for a quick coffee and pastry but once we got inside we thought we have to come back and eat a real meal. We sat at the counter and were helped immediately. The coffee was fresh ground and brewed in front of us - amazing!! The sweet corn cake con queso was delicious. Seriously delicious! The guava pastry was good, but we both liked the corn cake a lot more. Super low key, come as you are neighborhood place that just feels friendly and welcoming.

(From March 2022) So after finishing my trek from the The Lab and my stroll on the Riverwalk, I decide to walk further to the innings festival at Raymond James. Covering four miles, of course I needed to stop and get some eats/drinks (aka the cuban sandwich) and saw this place so walked in, sat at the bar, ordered and chilled for a bit while catching my breath. So the cuban sandwich I was served was a good size but not what I was expecting: it had lettuce, tomato, onion, and salami; no pork. Plus gobs of mustard squirted out as I was eating it so the messiness was at a 10 level. The sandwich tasted fine but I was hoping for the traditional cuban (ham, swiss, pork, pickles, mustard/mayo, toasted cuban bread). Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? And it was so large I couldn't finish it. At least it left me full. It's a small mom/pop shop with a bakery and traditional cuban eats such as yuca, plaintains, empanadas, cheese bread, etc. I probably should've went with that instead but you live and you learn.

Came here for a quick breakfast and the bread I got has mold. It was so disgusting it made me puke. They don't make their bread fresh here. I returned the food and owner gave me a refund for everything. I will not come back in this place anymore.

    Aborrajado

I have had some yummy Latin food at Antojitos over the years. Stopped in today for a late lunch/snack. They were out of my usual favorites so chose an Aborrajado de Platano (battered plantains and cheese) to go. It had an extremely dark filling, and a bitter, burnt taste. I just could not eat it. The plantains and cheese were indecipherable.

Their juices and empanadas are amazing! FYI: try Maracuya and Guanabana juices. Once you eat breakfast here, you'll want to come back for dinner and lunch. The service is pretty fast and you'll get what you need in a couple of minutes.

My first time here. I ordered the beef sancocho, it was really good, broth flavorful. I also has the beef empanadas which was also very good. Service was good. Will come back.

How do Colombians not get confused between the two on the top right corner?

There is a Colombian bakery in Jax (Jacksonville y'all) called antojitos colombianos that sells these pan de bono that are more addictive than meth and coke combined. While in Tampa, I visited this place and they have two that look pretty much the same, plus one that's circular. I couldn't decide which one to get so I did what every other sane human being would have done: get them all. At $1.25 each, why not? The good news is, when you go, you won't have the same dilemma, because here I am sharing the taste report. Happy carbing! - Almojábana - my favorite, crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy inside - Pan de Bono - like almojábana but with more cheese, hence denser - Pan de queso - bit too dry (probably good with coffee) PS: no minimum to pay with plastic.

We LOVE this place!!! It really is a hole in the wall and parking is kinda tight but don't let that deter you. When we find ourselves in Tampa and in the mood for empanadas, we immediately think of Antojitos. The chicken empanadas are my favorite but the stuffed yucca is also on the top of my list. Get some pan de bono too! Service is great even though they're always packed. Prices are cheap. The food is flavorful. Every table is given some SUPER SPICY sauce that looks like a homemade salsa. Be careful (if you're not conditioned to spicy Latin food) or your tongue might fall off!! But seriously, it's got some flavorful HEAT!

This place is not in the best part of town so we almost didn't go at all. However, we decided to order take-out and try a few items. We tried two beef empanadas, two pandebonos (Colombian cheese bread), chicharrón, mora (blackberry juice), and a loaf of their pancacho. The empanadas were not crispy, however the filling (potatoes and shredded beef) was very traditional and tasty. The hot sauce was good but did have a slightly bitter aftertaste. I would have liked the dough to be crispier but perhaps we got some old ones that had been sitting out for a little while. The pandebonos were perfectly made and delicious. The chicharrón was crispy and my husband seemed to enjoy it. Mora juice was excellent what little I had...my kid drank nearly half of it. The prices are reasonable and all of this only set us back about $20.

The service was slow and inaccurate. The food was also not tasty. Would not recommend. I had eggs and chorizo and my eggs had egg shells.

My brother who lives there swore by this spot, and the second I walked into Mi Carreta, I knew he wasn't exaggerating. The Bandeja Paisa? Absolute perfection. As if the food wasn't enough, the TV above the counter was showing the World Cup group draw live. We found out who Colombia is facing right there over lunch--talk about perfect timing! We started off with the toasted bread and butter and the devil crab croquet. Not a fan - full of crab but the flavors didn't sit well and really needed some type of sauce to pair with it - we only had hot sauce. The original salad - is a must we shared it across four. It's made table side has cheese and olives in it and was really good. We got ours with a side of shrimp. Main courses - Cuban - it's a classic sandwhich which we shared. Comes with fried plantains which were ok. Again would have been better with some kind of sauce to dip it in. Steak Salteado - good flavor l, was expecting thin sliced steak and it was more like stew meat. Paired with rice and was good. Palomilla - would be better as the sandwhich version. Again this one needed a sauce for dipping. Shrimp "Al Ajillo" - this is a must and the oil garlic mix is perfect for dipping you toasted bread.
