If you've ever wanted to pay $76 to play golf in a post-apocalyptic pasture, Antler Creek is your dream come true. Tucked away in beautiful Peyton, Colorado--where elevation is apparently code for "we stopped trying"--this course offers the full experience: dead grass, crusty dirt, and bunkers that double as rock gardens. Let's talk course conditions. The fairways are patchy mosaics of dead turf and weeds, and the greens? Oh, you mean the goose poop gardens. They were so littered with droppings it felt more like playing through a bird sanctuary than a golf course. As a bonus, the geese will glare at you like you're trespassing on their tee time. Which, honestly, you probably are--since there's no starter, no check-in, and tee times seem to be more of a suggestion than anything official. The bunkers are a joke--if you've ever hit out of a sandbox full of weeds and concrete, then congratulations, you've been here before. The layout is confusing, with entire parts of the course roped off randomly like they're under quarantine. The only thing more useless than the layout were the marshals, who zipped around the course like bored mall cops, overseeing the slowest pace of play imaginable without actually doing anything about it. And when we asked the pro shop staff why the course looked like it hadn't seen water or effort in a decade, their answer was, "It's because of the elevation." Ah yes, the classic "blame the altitude" defense--because apparently gravity pulls grass quality downhill here. There are other courses in the area, at the same elevation, for less money, that actually have grass and functioning staff. I live nearby and I'd still rather drive an hour than ever come back. If they offered a free round with a cart, lunch, and a foot massage from Rory McIlroy, I'd still politely decline. If you're feeling nostalgic for that abandoned lot behind your old high school, but wish it had more goose feces and disappointment--Antler Creek is calling. read more

Wow, this course went from horrible - to beautiful - this year. Very nice greens, tee boxes and fairways. They are replacing some of the sand traps with grass which will make it more friendly for some. We noticed other nice improvements, too. It's about %!# time. Don't like Kings Deer so very happy to have Antler Creek as a great option again. read more

No exaggeration, this is the worst golf course iv played. You'd expect this from a $20 golf course (still wouldn't pay that price to play here) but for $76 is crazy. Please don't waste your money on this course. read more

We played it two years ago and the greens were dead and bumpy and sandy. Thought we would give it another shot and were extremely disappointed. The tee boxes were dirt, weeds, and dead grass. The bunkers were gravel and weeds, fairways were alright but by no means good. Greens were better than two years ago but still very bumpy and unkept. The course conditions overall gives me the feeling that the course is close to being abandoned. So much wasted potential with it being a course with great mountain views. I would rather play any par 3 course or municipal course because they are cheaper and in better condition. The driving range was dead grass and dirt. For $76 this course is the biggest waste of money i could see. read more

Sad excuse for a public golf course. Some of the staff are nice but the greens and fairways are horrible and it needs new management or new owners. The grass is always infested and taken care of. It should be shut down, with time and money spent to fix it. Signage is little to none and rest of the course's amenities are just not what I expected at all. Dirty comes to mine . Doesn't help either it's more expensive than most public ones around the course. I just moved here, but won't be going to my neighborhood golf course due to this. This is by far the worst course in colorado yet. Can you act like you give a care at all? The course is so under maintained its unreal! The Fairways.... wait that not a fairway that an open field that was mowed and said presto it's a golf course. Seriously let's invest in a real grounds crew that want there jobs and rent a damn bulldozer and create a fairway. For gods sake their video to bring you to the course only covers the first hole and the driving range. Let's say it together self pride! The golf carts were ok however really you don't have handicap flags. With the prices you pay to play taking some care of the facilities and grounds wouldn't be to much to ask! Looks as if all the funds are being poured into the driving range and restaurant. They guy in the pro shop was very forward and not very helping to some one that has never been here before . Who ever said they have a marshal should learn what a marshal is because out of 18 holes i never saw one. Time management obviously has not been learned. I had a 3 some ahead of my group that we had to wait 10 minutes for and a single that was literally shooting over us. We offered to let him play threw and he responded no rush... seriously.... learn some damn etiquette. Wow really they are the only course that will allow you to look like a bumb on the street and play golf. Last time I checked golf was a gentlemen's game! read more

Antler Creek Golf Course - Terrible greens. - Golf Near Me - Peyton, Colorado

An oddly-designed golf course that is somewhat challenging and fun to play, but definitely needs some better maintenance and professional attention from the greens keepers. Signage is poor, and there are no course maps available - as a result we had to backtrack several times during the round to find the next tee box. There was no Starter at the first tee, and that resulted in some chaos with four groups waiting to tee off, but everyone was civil and pace of play was marginally acceptable. Possibly the biggest negative about Antler Creek was the complete lack of drinking water on the course, and absolutely no beverage cart service on the hot afternoon we played there. I'm not sure I'd play here again, but the course certainly has potential, and apparently is in dire need of better management. read more

***Horrible conditions. Carts that don't make it through 18 holes*** We really wanted to like this course but was terrible. The fairways is hard and understated. They didn't have carts that worked. They gave us one not charged and told us to use the other one to push it with up hills... yet we paid for two carts. Also hard to be switched out 12 holes in as put other cart died from pushing the first cart up the hill. Not giving it one star as the staff was pleasant but don't waste your money. If i could rate this dump any lower, I would. Took 3:20 to play the front. Didn't bother playing the back, thought it was a better value to lose that money than to waste another 3 hours at this place. Three groups on the first tee for our tee time. That's because there is no starter. Took forever and a day because there is no ranger. Oh, and by the way, the course is in the worst condition of any course I have ever seen, by an enormous margin, like it's not even close. Crab grass and dendelions everywhere, not in the rough, the fairways. The greens, if you can call them that, didn't have grass on them. More like browns, or deads. Avoid this place like the plague. So sad!! This WAS an amazing course, NOT anymore!!! We always enjoyed taking a day trip from Denver to Peyton to play, but we're heartbroken to see the awful condition it is in now! Fairways so dry and dead, like they haven't been watered the entire season? Bunkers full of weeds and grass! I will give props to the pro shop allowing us to use 2 of the BOGO's from my Green Saver Book, otherwise I would have been embarrassed having my friends paying $61 each for such terrible conditions!! I worked in the golf course business for many years and to be frank in my opinion, this course is the laziest design and built course I have ever played or seen. Photos don't represent the actual layout of the course. I regret not taking some. They show photos of low brush I guess, after winter when growth is little to none. Many holes have deep and thick brush along fairways and in front of almost every tee. Don't even bother looking for your ball. If you are a recreational golfer and you want to play this course, better bring a dozen balls at least or play in winter or early spring. Yeah, I get it "hit the ball straight." The problem is got to admit some very difficult holes with many blind shots and deep brush all over including across fairways and around greens! It looks like they decided to build a course the cheapest and quickest way. Almost totally avoided planting grass and least amount of fairways and rough possible! It wouldn't be so bad if the tees, greens and grass they did have was in great shape but definitely not the case. No yardage makers other than some 150 yards post and very few sprinkler cap yardage markers, I only found one, stopped looking. Plus, the kicker is it is easily double the greens fees of other public courses in the area. Shame on the owners and designers of this course! No issue with staff they are not the problem here! read more

I'd love to give this course a higher rating given its the the 3rd longest in the country but their time management is horrible. Almost every time I have gone out they stack you with 3 or 4 sets of players behind you. Now you feel rushed. The course itself is maintained well. Membership though isn't worth the cost. Sure it's a long course but that in itself is not a worthy accomplishment, it just means they bought lots of cheap land. First you have to get past the guy in the "pro" shop. I think his name is Mike and he is anything but pro. In fact he is so unprofessional he makes you want to turn around and leave. He is grouchy, argumentative and a super bad hire. He sets a negative tone before you even get in the cart. Last time I was there after taking almost a half hour for three holes we circled back for a refund. The course was jammed with horrible players taking on average 10 strokes a hole. They have no marshall or monitoring which makes it worse. He basically argued with me for ten minutes before coughing up the raincheck. He was lecturing me on how "those people have just as much a right to be out there as you do" which I was not contesting. My issue was that "I have just as much of a right to not take 7 frustrating hours for 18 holes." He didn't have a comeback for that. All I wanted was to try it again some other day when they weren't so busy and he turned it into a negative, demeaning, poorly constructed lecture of inferior logic. Way to go buddy, that's how you build a loyal fan base for sure! He's probably the owners or managers son because if he was a regular guy he would clearly be unemployed. Due to the quality of people that golf there, the pace is horrible. Combined with their tragic spacing management, no marshall or monitoring, you'll be waiting or you'll be pushed or as often is the case, both. I don't know if it's the location or the cheap price but the people that golf there are, well how shall I say, not the best. They take forever and I've never seen more divots and ball marks on greens anywhere. Overflowing trash cans and no cart beverage service adds to the bad taste. Then you have to put up with incessently barking dogs and house poor people who don't have enough money to finish their backyards, even though they were qualified for a loan on a home on a golf course. This was my second time as I feel everyone and everything deserves a second chance. I won't be back...mostly because the guy in the pro shop. 2 stars - would be 1 star but the course actually is solid. It's just everything else that ruins it. read more

This is a great course and has a great staff. Peter S obviously has nothing better to do than talk smack about a course he almost played. I do play the course regularly and the GM has been making many improvements with course conditions, better food, having a Marshall, having the right staff and growing the business year over year. Great golf course with tee boxes for all levels! Although I am a pretty high handicapper, I have joined a senior league with all levels of play and the handicap helps even things out. We play Monday and Wednesday mornings and have a great time. The guys in the pro shop are very accommodating, and make it a point to personally know all of their members. You can't beat the membership rate and can pretty much play year round. The greens are in great shape right now! The Grill is a great place to grab a drink or bite to eat after golf or during the evening and has a variety of menu options. read more

The Marshall and the GM who is stealing money from the golf coarse needs to be fired, then you might have the ability to have something. The fairways are very short due to neglect. They are mostly annual blue grass now, which is yellow and can only have a root system of 2". The greens were not cut, the cups have not been changed this year. The grass was growing over the hole. They have lots of winter kill and bare areas. Lack of a lot of fertilizer and water is the reason for the deterioration of blue grass. I will not play this course ever again.
