This place has pretty good parking and the water is always comfortable. BUT they need to provide more shade. Swimmers are already cooking in the pool. Pls provide shade!!!! read more

SPLISH SPLASH This brand new aquatic center just opened June of 2014. It is a great place for parents and tots to swim, take a swimming class or enjoy summer camp. It can also be rented out for private parties. Swimming classes are really affordable and all prices are listed on the website. Season passes are also available, so you can enjoy the pool from June through August. There is a water slide but it was closed the day I was here. If you have small children you will enjoy the shallow aquatic fun area. It is not very tall but has water splashing all over the place. It is perfect for a hot summer day. Make sure you wear sun screen because there is not much shade here. Many of the parents huddled near the shadow of the main building or under a sliver of the sun shade. Summer is finally here and Antioch has a great new place for parents and children to hang out. Who doesn't love swimming and relaxing in the pool on a hot summer day. So dive into the brand new aquatic center for some fun this season. Bonus Section: On a side note I got to enjoy a great parent fighting with first the manager & the the supervisor. The Mom was freaking out because they asked her to sit in a certain section during the swimming lessons. She refused because she didn't want her kid to drown. The staff here was sweet as pie but the Mom was ready for some blood. The supervisor finally walked away. She seemed like trouble. I wonder how she handle her kids near a glass of water. They suggested she sign her kids up for private lessons and she didn't like that at all. So at the end of the day I guess a pool isn't relaxing for everyone. read more

WORST pool experience ever. I've never yelped before and am certainly not a person to ever complain but this experience was such a comedy of errors I can't let it go. I brought my two kids, 5 and 2, to swim for awhile at 1030 am on a Tues. Went up to window and was asked if I wanted tot swim or all day. I asked what the difference was since I had never been there and didn't know tot swim was even a thing. Was told tot swim ended at 1130, all day would enable us to stay longer. Great- I want all day since it was already 1040 and god knows with the whole sunscreen/ swim diaper dance we wouldn't even get into the pool until 11. Ok, $12. BUT no outside drinks allowed (I had a quarter of an iced coffee in hand). I find one of the only THREE small shady areas in the whole place and attempt to put sunscreen and floaties on the boys. The guy who took our money promptly hunted us down to give us wrist bands because, and I quote, "they will kick you out if you don't have these." Ok. He left out a very important detail which I'll get to later. "Also, you can't use those floaties. We have life jackets." Alright, I've been to a lot of pools and have never been told our floaties aren't allowed, but ok fine. Literally 30 seconds later a little girl tells me I have to pick up and move all of my stuff because a camp was coming in and was going to take that space. Now my mood is souring. A full 10 minutes later we get in the pool after moving all of our stuff to a full sun/ super hot area, which is all we have to choose from. I sit on a ledge to watch the boys after getting situated. I'm there for roughly 45 seconds before I'm told "you can't sit there". Ok. Now it's 1105 and we're actually having some fun. Good. Now it's 1110 and I'm told that I've put the community life jackets on the wrong way and that there's a strap that goes between their legs. I wrestle them down to make changes. Now it's 1115 and we're having some fun. All the way to 1130! Great time for 15 minutes. Now it's 1131 and we're being told we have to leave. I'm grateful for the boy who hunted us down and gave us wristbands. I proudly hold up my wrist. Lifeguard shakes her head, "tot time is over. You have to get out until noon." I argued that we paid for the whole day. Doesn't matter- we have to get out but can get back in at noon. Without warning I have to tell these two kids it's over and that we have to get out. I'm dumbfounded. I look around at all the shadeless spots remaining. I have no toys, no food, no drink. I have 30 minutes in the blazing sun with two very upset little boys. What fun. No big deal, I think, I'll just go get my refund cuz we are not staying past tot time after all. I am told nope, no refunds. Even after I explain that there was a misunderstanding and that no one told me we'd have to kill a half hour. Nope. 30 seconds later, another lifeguard comes out to scold us because while I'm hanging up life jackets and telling five year old to calm down (he's devastated we're leaving) the two year old was pushing on the hanging rack. I'm a very well educated woman pushing 40 and apparently completely sucked at life at this pool. I tried to reenact what I saw my own mother do so often when I was a kid: effortlessly walk into a public pool and chill on the pool deck while sipping her Diet Rite and eating her own snacks, all while we kids frolicked for hours. Normally we go to the Grayslake pool and thought we'd give this pool a shot since it's a bit closer to home. We went later in the day 4:00 to be exact and when we first walked in it was nice to see that it wasn't as busy as what we are used to. Then as my 4 year old goes into the water we are told she can't wear her puddle jumper and that she could wear a communal life coat ( gross ) no thank you. Then we were trying to enjoy ourselves but every 2 mins the life guard had to keep telling kids not to do things so minuscule that they shouldn't have wasted their breath and instead should have kept their eyes on the water for drowning children. To top it off one of the lifeguards was so snarky to the children and would roll her eyes at them. Then I was able to watch the same lifeguard sit and tattle on another life guard (can we say drama) We choose to not return and drive the few extra minutes to the Grayslake pool.
