Hotels in Cologne are expensive! So we somewhat reluctantly booked this hotel at a little short of £160 for bed and breakfast. It took us 15 minutes to walk from the railway station, not a scenic route but straightforward. The receptionist was welcoming and the room was fine. Twin beds as requested and a 'standing' balcony with a view of .... the roof and walls. We heard very little from the other guests and slept well despite the usual problem of being TOO hot! Breakfast was ... OK. the usual selection of cheese and meats, bacon and eggs, fruits and cereal, the highlight being some delicious stollen. So, all fine but nothing to go out of your way for. Mind you, we were there for the Christmas markets and that's where Cologne really shone...but that's another review! read more
