My wife and I were looking for an 'authentic' wine tasting experience near Florence (something close enough for my wife and I to ride a moped through Florence). Paulo didn't have the most reviews online but every review I saw was 5 stars. This piqued my interest..."there's something here". We find ourselves walking in the front door of an old mom and pop shop bodega/general store. Paulo greets us warmly and we walk down some stairs to his basement. We're greeted by a pre set up tasting table that just looks fantastic. Paulo goes on to teach us about the components of the tongue and how the various fruit, nut, cheese, combinations hit the senses that just so happen to pair perfectly with his Rose wine--and that was just the beginning. To this day we continue to recommend him without reservation to all of our friends (with 10+ friends being able to experience his tasting, and each agreeing this was one of their best memories in Italy). We also continue to order his wine and olive oil direct to the US and his wine currently occupies the top shelf on our wine rack. Paulo, you're awesome!!

The tasting ( in my experience) was much more than wine tasting but a combination of cheeses, jams, mortadella, prosciutto, and of course wines which he makes. The first course included a rosé style wine and a few different cheese all of which were different ages, topped with different jams including a truffle blackberry jam and cashews which were absolutely incredible! They walked us through a tasting of about 5 whites and 4 reds. Everyone in out group found a couple wines they really liked. They made shipping wine back to the US very simple and even called a local restaurant and asked them to stay open and await our arrival (which they gladly did). A year later Fabian remembered the tour we had originally scheduled and put together new experience for us. Fabian is incredibly friendly, well educated, and a fantastic sommelier. Tasting with him wasn't some intimidating experience where he was judging your knowledge, he truly wanted to know what we thought of the wines and the flavors. His education background in biology and chemistry makes tasting really a fun learning experience, it was like a class: Wine Science with Fabian! We stopped at 3 wineries on the Brunello tour and at each location it was like we were tasting with family friends. Each winery had a geographically unique location and provided us a wide ranging flavor profile of the "same" wine. After the tours were done, Fabian took us through Montalcino and showed us the adorable town through a local lense, something we probably wouldn't have done on our own. If you're staying in Florence and want a beautiful day trip to experice the magic of Tuscany, I couldn't recommend 13 Chianti Road enough. The day was perfect, Fabian was 100% accommodating with our requests, and we will definitely revisit his tours when we go back to Tuscany.

The winery, tour and the history behind it was awesome! On the tour, you are able to see the beautiful estate, including the wine barrels and vaults. To see pure Italian wine, direct at the source, was an awesome experience. Our tour guide was great and explained so much about the wine, owners and history of the estate. Although the tasting of this wine was completed at the final destination (not recommended to drink and drive a vespa), it was so good! If you are able to tour this winery, do not miss out!

We had a wonderful time and she went above and beyond to make our tour special. We started by having some Prosecco while she told us some history of Ruffino and then we decided to do our tour by tasting one wine in a different part of the estate. We were able to try one wine while learning about Ruffino's many awards, one wine while in the wine cellar in the basement with the oak barrels and one wine while out on the beautiful landscape. Our tour was supposed to be 90 minutes but it was about 2 1/2 wonderful hours due to the attention Greta paid to our tour. We also had two non-drinkers in our party and they still enjoyed the tour. I cannot say enough how wonderful our experience was. It is definitely worth it. Make sure you e-mail/call ahead and book a tour, if this is on your list! Greta thank you for a wonderful day!! It is one of the highlights from our trip!
