I had a horrible experience with a chiropractor when I was a teenager so I'm honestly scared to go to someone new now that I've moved and am used to someone that was holistic and used a drop table as opposed to twist pop and essentially jump on you to get you to adjust. Through my extensive research I kept coming back to Arise. I kept reading Dr. Cortner's story and it was a lot like my own with PCOS etc. So something told me to just make the appointment and go for the consult. I reached out online to make an appointment. Next day I open Facebook and see an ad from them advertising a new patient special for that weekend and limited to only 30 slots. So I took advantage of it because I felt it was some sort of a sign. I go to my appointment, am shown around the office and someone does a quick nerve conduction thing to my back and has me stand and bend in certain ways so they can document this all. Dr. Cortner comes in and we chat for a bit about my history. She sends me across the hall to do XRays and the tech brought me to a drop table that is in an open cubicle type area (has walls not partitions but there are no doors and everyone can watch you being adjusted). This is not private and is very uncomfortable. Things can happen during adjustments like clothing being lifted by accident or whatever not to mention everyone can hear your discussion with your doctor....this is breach of privacy. Dr. Cortner comes in and begins her adjustment process. She's not very forceful which is nice and just uses the drop table. She was about to adjust my neck without asking me or telling me and had I not been to a chiropractor before I would not have known that's what she was about to do. So I was able to stop her and she gladly used the "woodpecker" on my neck instead. She asked me if I had anyone at home because if so she would want them to attend my next appointment. She said that my next appointment would be a sit down with her where we can really go through my XRays step by step and build a plan together to discuss how we are going to treat my neck and back. I went to pay at the front and expected to pay my $35 copay and they said it was $37 because I responded to the Facebook thing and they don't bill that one to insurance. Hmm ok...It's just $2 and I'm limited to 20 visits a year so ok this gets me an extra one. I show up on Wednesday and there's a bunch of people there waiting. They put all of us into the big open area where they do pretreatment and posttreatment therapies....Uh what is this? Dr. Cortner comes out and begins to do a presentation about her history and the importance of chiropractic care and starting when the kids are babies and doing this for the whole family not just yourself. This lasted a good half hour and then the 3 chiropractors in the practice took individual patients to private rooms to discuss whatever. I finally get called back by Dr. Kelly I think she said her name was and we went into the same room where the XRays are taken. She showed me my XRays and told me everything that is wrong with them. Then shows me this piece of paper that on one side said they recommend 36 adjustments with 3 visits per week for 6 weeks, 2 visits per week for 6 weeks and then 1 visit per week for 6 weeks. As part of this they want me to do 15 Spinal PT Exercises and 15 Cervical Traction decompressions along with 4 additional films and 2 more re-evaluations. I am also to purchase a homecare kit. Already confirmed that my insurance will cover 100% of chiropractic care for 20 visits after $35 copay for each visit. It's very good insurance. They tried to tell me that my insurance will only cover 15 visits. They want to charge me $20 for each of the 15 Spinal PT Exercises (sitting on a balance ball on a chair) and $15 each visit to stand on a vibration plate thing. The home care kit is $180. Then on top of all of this want me to add another 21 visits at $45 each, XRays at $20 each and there's 4, $25 for the re-examinations.... The paper says my grand total is $1755 of which they want me to either pay all that day or agree to 4 equal payments. Um no. You can't post date billing to insurance and I'm not going to prepay for my copays for services not rendered and appointments not scheduled. I wouldn't prepay my copays even if I were scheduled. That's not how it works. Basically it's a timeshare tour where they get you in the door to try to sell you something instead of feeling like they actually cared, I felt misled and lied to. What a waste of my time. I really wish I had looked at Yelp before booking the appointment. I am not sure what I was thinking.

Its very easy for anyone to read the test results and could have avoided this. Some of the staff doesn't even know English. We got the surprising bill manipulating as different services. they suggested like you can do this at home yourself but then keep saying we can quickly take care of it here, never disclosed anything about how much they will charge us. In this economy people are finding really hard time to find a job. how hard is to tell them we charge this much for this service. so that we can decide if we want to do it or not.
