She tried her best to get through taking vitals and everything so the doctor could see us as soon as he was done with the several patients ahead of us. I had a very disappointing experience at Piedmont Urgent Care. I came in with painful urination and…read morepainful, swollen lymph nodes and was met with a complete lack of compassion or concern. Dr. Kim performed no real assessment and offered no solutions beyond a basic urinalysis. I had to ask for bloodwork, and I also had to ask for a prescription to help manage the pain I was experiencing. There was no attempt to investigate the cause of my symptoms or provide meaningful guidance. I was essentially told that if I wanted any real effort in diagnosing the issue, I should go to the ER or see my primary care physician--making the urgent care visit feel pointless. The entire interaction felt rushed and dismissive. Dr. Kim seemed impatient and irritated by my questions, and the initial consult lasted no more than three minutes before he excused himself, saying he had other things to do. I left feeling unheard, unsupported, and no closer to understanding or resolving my symptoms. This experience fell far short of what I would expect from an urgent care visit, especially when seeking help for something painful and concerning.

I've been a patient of Dr. Curtis's for the past 3 months and I am amazed at her intuitiveness, her…read morecompassion and her knowledge of how to deal with complex health issues. I am a nutrition nerd who reads and studies up on food as medicine, but after years of VERY stressful life situations and trying to self manage my diet, I was still lethargic and moody, even with a squeaky clean diet (no grains, no sugar, no diary). Many of us know that when you can't fix things yourself through diet, there's likely something else going on. It was time to see a doctor who practices functional medicine. Around this time, I also learned that my sister has a specific genetic mutation that could impact my health, so I threw that on the agenda. I arrived at the office with a list of things I needed her input on. She took time to sit with me, review the very detailed medical history questionnaire and listen to what was going on. She was careful and thorough during our visit. She spent an entire hour and a half with me - reviewing my history. No interruptions. No sitting in a room for 45 minutes waiting to speak to the doctor. Me and Dr. Curtis - discussing my issues one on one for over an hour. Who does that anymore? No one. It's not surprising that this level of treatment comes at a cost. Functional doctors can be pricey, but I knew that beforehand. I was also prepared to pay out of pocket if need be as insurance may not cover some of the tests or supplements. My health and the knowledge I gain by working with Dr. Curtis is worth any amount I pay. I am learning how to cope with the stresses of life - what supplements help me in which ways. Which foods work well for my body and which result in negative consequences. My father died young of a sudden heart attack and I am convinced that had I not seen Dr. Curtis, learned the details of my genetic makeup and what lifestyle modifications I needed to make - I would end up with the same fate. The fees I pay for office visits, diagnostic tests and the like are investments in MY health. I'm taking control of my health vs. resorting to pharmacutical remedies and I believe that this investment is worth every penny. I am so very grateful to Dr. Curtis for the work that she does. I can tell by her demeanor that she is doing this work from her heart. She is mindful of the cost of the supplements that she recommends. For example, I was on a 21 day gut rebuilding diet which necessitated a specialized protein powder supplement that was expensive. After the 21 days were up, she and I discussed what to do with the leftover powder and she recommended I use the rest up for meal replacements since it would be wasteful to throw it out and she'd hate for me to lose the $ I'd spent buying it. She also gives samples of supplements to try to make sure it will work with your body composition before you purchase a full bottle. I could not ask for more in a doctor than what Dr. Curtis provides. She is knowledgable, compassionate and she listens. She's not rushing you out of the office because she has to see 5 patients an hour. She is there for you during your appointment time. Her attention is focused on you and your needs. If this is the type of doctor - patient relationship you're looking for, look no further. I recommend AFM and Dr. Curtis to anyone with health challenges. I am a customer for life!

Iam so blessed to have had Dr. Hawkins as my surgeon for many reasons! Not only was she an…read moreefficient & competent surgeon, but her bedside manner is impeccable! I couldn't have possibly had a more proficient surgeon had I dreamed one up! Lol. I'm one of those people who really research anyone who is going to be my medical professional. Simply because you only have one life, & you want the best to work with & on you. Plus, i have to be extra thorough in screening doctors because I am a transgender male. It can be very difficult to find good medical care. Someone who isn't going to treat you like an experiment or a mental case. So, you can imagine my excitement when i discovered Dr. Hawkins! My first initial visit with Dr. Hawkins was great. She took me to her office, got to know me, & asked me many questions about what i had been going through. She presented me with options I had not thought of, & gave me some new information that I had not considered. She checked me out, & I was on my way. Days later my body went haywire!!!! It was a nightmare! I was pouring blood, & having huge blood clots. Which had happened once before. I had to change pads & tampons every 30 mins to an hour. I was experiencing difficulty even getting through the day. So, i kept in contact with her medical assistant Jessica. Jessica & Dr. Hawkins make a superb team! Jessica went above & beyond her call of duty. Any time I called her, she was so calm & reassuring! She helped me any way she could! One of the difficult parts about this whole process was that my uterus had literally grown as if i was carrying a baby. It was about 9 inches long. It was up in my abdomen. I had to go to the hospital at least 3 times, & one of those times was an overnight stay that I had to receive a blood transfusion. My leg & foot had almost doubled in size. I went to my podiatrist, & she referred me to a vascular doctor. He discovered I had multiple blood clots in both legs. My uterus was literally tearing my body apart. A year earlier I had been seeing a urologist. My uterus was causing the problem with my bladder. Dr. Hawkins had discovered that my uterus was so large that it was not only crushing my bladder, but sitting on a large vein or vessel (can't remember which) in which was causing the blood clots because the blood couldn't flow properly to my legs. Consequently, I had to have an IVC filter put in to even have the surgery. I had already had one pulmonary embolism due to the blood clots. Dr. Hawkins even admitted to me that this may be a little bit more difficult then she expected. She never gave up though. She consulted with an oncologist that specialized in difficult situations like this. She did her homework. Once I was able to finally have my surgery I was overjoyed!!!! Finally all my agony was about to be over! The day of the surgery Dr. Hawkins reassured me that everything would be fine. My surgery went spectacular. No problems during or after. Once I was okay, she even came to see me on her own personal time. I felt very taken care of by her & her team. Healing went extremely well. My incision is barely visible. My girlfriend, a nurse, even said it looked like artwork. Clean, thin, & beautiful. If you're looking for a surgeon that is intelligent, knowledgeable, & personable do yourself a favor & go to Dr. Hawkins! Best decision of my life!

When I began…read moreexperiencing issues days after an invasive surgery the office staff gave me a hard time about requesting to be seen in person prior to a six week follow up visit. They were rude and argumentative even after I thoroughly explained what had been happening with my body. This happened not once but twice. The second time was in front of my primary doctor who called to try to get me seen after I explained what had been happening. By this time I had even been in the ER in which Dr. De did not come to see me there while at the hospital and I was still given a difficult time to be seen in person. When I was able to be seen by Dr. De she was not familiar with my chart which was evident by the questions that she asked. She even gave contradicting information from what she had previously said on a televisit call about a procedure performed during surgery. Even on the six week follow up visit, I expressed concerns about what I was continuing to experience. The symptoms progressed even after a test was ordered but I received no direction or guidance on what I could be experiencing and how to manage it. I had to send multiple messages in the portal before she would even address the issue. It was a stressful and terrible experience with FPWCG and I do not recommend Dr. De to anyone after everything that I have endured which is far beyond what is included in this review.

And the keto diet that I follow does cause ketone levels to rise in both blood and urine. And it makes no sense to force a patient to retake tests just because you adhere to 20th-century dietary recommendations and have never seen high ketones (which, in the absence of glucose in the urine, do not pose any threat). Especially if my retaken results will be lost (AGAIN). In addition, part of the nurses is unprofessional and rude. One put on the pressure cuff with the hose up. The blood is taken from the hand on weight (and it really hurts because the hand cannot be relaxed). The chair doesn't even have an armrest. The wound is sealed with tape, which pulls out body hairs, and not tied with an elastic bandage. The staff gets annoyed with additional questions. This place was the closest to my home, but I will be forced to change it, because there is no desire to take tests a hundred times, which still lose or do not publish them on the portal. And yeah, I can't just go to their restroom and collect my pee to the container the same day as visit the doctor. They will make an appointment for me in 2-3 WEEKS!!! Well, Peachtree Primary Care, bye-bye! You are completely unprofessional, and I regret wasting my time.
