I was SO excited to get my wedding dress from Anthropologie in chestnut Hill -- it felt like such a special, once-in-a-lifetime purchase. I had a wonderful experience working with Cecelia (she was absolutely amazing -- kind, patient, and genuinely helpful), but unfortunately, everything else about this experience has been so disappointing. I was told my dress would arrive at my house within a week. I planned everything around that timeline -- fittings, alterations, you name it. A week passed, and I hadn't heard anything. When I reached out to check on it, I found out on my own that my dress was actually backordered indefinitely. No one from Anthropologie bothered to contact me or give me an update. For something as important and emotional as a wedding dress, this kind of lack of communication is just unacceptable. I trusted that I was in good hands, but it really feels like the company dropped the ball completely. The whole process left me feeling stressed, disappointed, and honestly heartbroken. Anthropologie needs to do so much better -- brides shouldn't have to chase down information about their own wedding dresses. I will not be recommending Anthropologie in the future. read more

I came here with my two sisters and mom for my sister to try on wedding dresses. What a pretty store, and the wedding section had a beautiful selection. Amy was the store associate who was assigned to help us. First and foremost, she approached us with a smile and such warm energy! It felt as though she already knew us. She was kind and really did her best to help find my sister the perfect dress for her special day. My sister ended up finding her wedding dress that day and left over the moon! Went into this location to return a pretty large online order. I do a lot of online shopping (with returning) because I have no time to shop, so I buy a lot of things in a few sizes, expecting to return what doesn't fit. I'm always embarrassed when I do my returns because I've often been met with some poor and rude customer service. However, when I was doing my return at this store, I was met with nothing but friendliness and good customer service, which I really appreciated. This store is one of the bigger ones too ... with a really good selection. They also have bridal fashion here. Something to keep in mind for the future. Wink, wink. read more

Took my daughter to a bridal boutique not far from this store and decided hey, let's just stop in here as the website shows they have wedding dresses. The parking lot is busy and small, but you should be able to park. The store is huge and offers wonderful dressing rooms. They have a entire are of the store with about 3-4 racks on wall with wedding dresses- I found one for my daughter to try on and it was about 6 thousand less then what we have been looking at. A saleswoman greeted me and asked if she could help me. We let her know that we wanted to try the dress on- she was very taken back that I took the dress off the rack and said we needed a appointment. She said,*I'll take that, let me see about availability for appointments". We declined my daughter is visiting from California very limited time- and we thought we'd be able to try them on as the site does not say appointment required. needless to say we left. It's not a big deal but come on the store was not busy at all so why could she not try it on? This is not a full blown our Bridal shop. I could see if the store was busy and the dresses were not over the top in any way - very basic. I cannot imagine that they sell a lot.... I guess we will stick with The Vow Boutique- If you are looking for quality, here was just average but the price does reflect that. read more

I went in to help get styled for an outfit that I wanted to wear for my birthday. I've always had really great service every time I've gone to the Location in Boston by the pru so I thought I would give this location a try considering that this location hosts BHLDN. I was so disappointed. All of the stylists couldn't be bothered to help me and when I asked if I could get something in a different size it was like it was an inconvenience. When I was picking out a bunch of clothing nobody asked if they could take any of it to a dressing room and ended up carrying like 7 hangers myself. Once again nobody asked if I could use any help and when I asked for help it sounded like an inconvenience. When I went to the cashwrap ares there were two ladies there and one was clearly getting online orders together , a manger or supervisor walked up to her and demanded that she started to ring out the one person behind me. Honestly management at this store needs to speak to their employees a bit better. I'm really not impressed at all. This was not the anthropology experience that I'm use to. I'm really disappointed with the overall experience that I had and I wouldn't recommend going here if you're just looking for a regular outfit. All the stylists are too busy with the BHLDN appointments. read more

Very disappointed to see the changes that happened to this store, especially to the sales people on the floor and behind the register. Used to be welcoming, knowledgeable, smiling, ready and willing to help sales people. That is all gone! Stopped at the store today at 5:55pm. The website shows that the store is open until 8pm, but it actually closes at 6. When I mentioned that at the register and asked to communicate to the right department so it gets updated online, they laughed and had no interest in listening as it was a minute past 6pm. Very unprofessional customer service people and pretty unpleasant experience. read more

I wish I could say the same with other Yelpers. I had a 2nd appointment with BLDHN on Tuesday to find a 2nd dress to change in for my reception. First time was me actually looking for a wedding dress. I don't remember my first consultant name. Both times I felt and was treated the same way it doesn't really matter..a quick in and out. It's definitely not a real bridal experience here if that's what you are looking for. It was early at 12:45P. It was still early so the associates were talking among themselves in the bridal area and outside. I walked in and stood there, said hi and everyone just looked at me like what am I doing here. I went ahead and told them I have an appointment, gave my name and they were all like oh who is with her today.. in my head... ???? Ugh ok. Maybe a little more prepare I would hope. They didn't look pleased to see me either. Moving on, my consultant was Bryann. She was OK. She was helpful in getting me in and out. She didn't really have much to say or a suggestion to make regarding the style I was looking for. Who knows. Its just different from the service I've gotten from other boutqiues. I like how I'm able to look through the selection but that's maybe because they have a small selection therefore it's easier to browse through unlike real bridal stores. I'm not sure if coming in by yourself makes a difference but I did come here with a friend for her wedding dress and it was totally different. I feel like everyone should get the same treatment whether they came by themselves or with someone. Location is great with free parking. BLDHN section isn't bad, small but it works. The store itself we all know is great. My experience was probably a hit or miss but it's a miss both times. Ehhhhhh. I won't be coming back. They should open another BLDHN section at another anthropologie location with better service to serve 1 person bridal appointment. read more

I agree with Tori - almost too much selection. I always hit the housewares section, because I have no will power when it comes to funky tea sets and huge bowls for oranges. They have some good items here, def worth checking out. The advantage to the store's being so big is that the sales section is usually quite stocked. If you are in the mall, hit it up, if not, the Back Bay location is just as good. read more

I came for their BHLDN collection which just opened a few days ago. The staff are friendly and, being only a few days since opening, their BHLDN section already had a few brides trying on beautiful gowns. There were only two dressing rooms in that section so I took the dress I was looking at to their regular dressing grooms, which was my personal preference anyways because I didn't want all the attention from the sales ladies. I'm the kind of shopper that likes to be left alone, regardless of the shopping occasion. I really like how their line has dresses that are much more affordable than other designer dresses, and the dresses sizes are closely matched to street size clothes, so you don't feel like an elephant ordering 6-8 sizes up like other dress shops. The staff are friendly and sweet, and seem genuinely excited for you when you find the dress you are looking for, regardless if your dress of choice is untraditional. I was extremely pleased to be able to find what I was looking for, and cannot recommend their BHLDN line enough. It was a wonderful perk too since I'm from California and our sales tax here are SO much higher than Boston's. read more

I haven't really walked around the Anthropologie part of the store, so this review is more for the BHLDN inside (bridal section, pronounced Beholden). BHLDN has beautiful wedding and bridesmaid dresses. I really liked almost all of the wedding dresses I tried on. They have reasonable prices and a good range of prices, which is nice. Jill, who was my bridal attendant, was SO sweet and helpful. It was my first dress appointment and she made it such a great experience! The bridal attendants do not work on commission so they have the freedom of giving honest opinions, and I didn't feel like I was being pushed to buy anything. It was a really nice low pressure appointment. I ended up finding my dress elsewhere, but my bridesmaids dresses are the Annabelle dress from BHLDN. I'm a wedding photographer and have photographed a few weddings that used that dress for their bridesmaids this year - it's so nice that it's so versatile! Not too expensive, either. Though I can't speak for this specific Anthropologie, I highly recommend BHLDN for brides and bridesmaids! read more

Unlike my last review, this one is for BHLDN, the bridal salon located inside Anthropologie. My girlfriends and I were here last weekend as emotional support for our friend who is getting hitched this summer. First, let's talk dresses. My only complaint is that they weren't around when I got married (lousy timing - they opened a year later). This place is not about the froof, poof, or boof; the dresses here are simple, elegant, and are meant to let the beauty of the bride shine. And if vintage/antique-y is your style (I know it's mine), BHLDN seems to specialize in it (again, WHY weren't they around five years ago?!?). You can easily find an old school dress with a modern twist that can rock a ton of lace without making you look like you need to be adorning the back of Grandma's sofa. Our bride actually already had her dress, but we came here to do our due diligence. Jill, her stylist put her in a dress that looked 'meh' on the hanger and then handed her a belt to accessorize with. With the dress on though, we knew the first dress was going back. Absolutely stunning. Jill was a huge help, very patient, and she really knows her stuff. She even suggested a pair of earrings that went perfectly with the dress. She also mentioned that the staff at BHLDN do not work on commission, which was reflected in the pressure-free environment. I have no reason to come back here myself, but I still will, just to drool a little at all the pretty. read more

There was a fitting room wide open and all we wanted to do is try on separates. Sam, the manager, would not let us try anything after we'd traveled to this location. Huge disappointment. This review is for BHLDN and my stylist Angela. I walked into BHLDN last Monday with my Mom, sister, and cousin in tow and with a lot of drew, as I was already thinking there was no way I was going to walk out with with a wedding gown. But I DID! What I really like about BHLDN is that all of the bridal gowns are hung up for you to feel, look at and pull from. Unlike a traditional bridal store where you may not be able to see all of the samples available you can at BHLDN. While limits the selection, I didn't find that to be a problem. Samples at the store are generally available in a smaller size like a 4 or 6, and a middle size 10-12 to try on in each style available. This could pose a problem if you are bigger than a 12-14, as there won't be a 14-16 sample to try on. When we arrived I had already looked at the dress selection online and told Angela the names of the ones I was interested in, but then I looked at the racks and ended up pulling a few more, even when I showed some reservation about a dress, Angela was helpful and enthusiastic, saying 'Well, even if you're unsure we can still at least try it! It won't hurt!' I went into the store thinking the Ines, Magnolia or Georgia would be my dress. However, the top contenders being NONE of those. Angela helped me get into each gown, so it is best to wear something you are comfortable being seen in, in terms of undergarments. I wore nude underwear, with high waist spanxs and a nude bra, and felt covered enough. When I got to the Tasmin gown, which my family liked a lot, and I 'liked' Angela quickly switched out the ribbon belt I didn't love to give me a better idea of how it could look. I went back into to try on more and found the Gigi gown. As she clipped it to fit me better she said, 'Oh, I really like this one on you the most so far.' This was a good confidence boost as there are no mirrors in the changing areas (Angela said this is so a bride doesn't get a bad impression of a dress before they're properly zipped/clipped into it) The faces on my family with this gown were priceless, and while I didn't think I wanted a strapless, it was the perfect dress for me. What I also liked about Angela was she honest with me too, telling me that the modified a-line of the Gigi and even the Tasmin were going to make me feel more comfortable than I did in the fit and flair dresses as they enhanced the parts of my body I liked while not enhancing those I didn't feel as comfortable about. When she saw that the Gigi was working out, she quickly added a veil, switched it for a finger tip length when we said it was too long, and then added a belt, and then switched it when we thought the first was 'too much.' I ended up walking out after ordering one of the last two (!) Gigi dress in my size (for 1,000 on sale) and a belt (which was only 60). My only complaint would be that the veils were very expensive, so I didn't end up buying one. Overall, thought I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend BHLDN and Angela. read more

This is a review for BHLDN. First off, my stylist was Jill and she was incredibly sweet and genuinely a nice person. She gets 5 stars. The quality of the dresses was just not what I expected for the price. A lot of wedding dresses have more support than these, which seemed very light and overall lacking in comparison to the shiny, more built-up dresses in other shops. It might have to do with my body shape/size. I have small breasts and these dresses just don't look great on me without a bra, which they are supposedly designed to be worn without. The sample sizes were also not very varied- if you're going to be spending upwards of $500 on something I think the store should have more than one size in stock. Now there are two sections for brides- one is in front of a couch with a mirror behind it, the other is off to the side with a small pedestal and a mirror behind that. I think both set-ups could maybe use some more privacy. The side with the pedestal is a little dark and cramped. it was very awkward to be standing in dresses with my mother giving me disapproving comments while complete strangers looked on as they witnessed me going through this process. I think for a lot of us dress shopping can be really tough and make you feel vulnerable. I hope BHLDN takes that into consideration. Again, Jill was great and left me a little note card with my measurements on it before I left. She offset the set-up of the store and their lackluster dresses. That being said the bridesmaid dresses actually looked nicer than some of the wedding dresses to me. if you are looking for short, light dresses with the vintage look this might be your place. The shipping of the dresses is also very quick if you do decide to buy something here. read more

WOW! This Antrhopologie is HUGE! It made my rather disappointing visit to the Atrium Mall somewhat worthwhile. This location is definitely better than the Boylston Street location in Boston. Way more selection here, especially in terms of clothing. I picked up some cute little bowls and enjoyed browsing the kitchen stuff a lot. However, as their prices are a bit high on the clothing and many of the home goods, I restrained myself to the purchase of two small bowls. The staff here was pretty calm and did not hassle you when you first entered the store, something I always appreciate. The store is laid out nicely with lots of room in between displays. No fear of knocking things over. Great space. I didn't find the clearance section to be that great. It's similar in size to the one on Boylston Street. read more

This Anthropologie is HUGE! You can buy their standard fare of clothing, bags, and jewelry but my favorite thing about this location in the home and bedding section! They have amazing china, cute odds and ends like egg cups and muffin tins, hand towels, kitschy decorations, impressive linens, etc etc etc! I've been to this location a million times but the thing that finally prompted me to write a review was my most recent visit. I had a specific bag in mind and asked some of the staff for help finding it. They weren't sure if they were going to stock the item because they already knew it was on back order, but they offered to call the catalog headquarters to phone in my order and waive the shipping fees. Sweet! The whole process went very smoothly and I was so excited to know I could get my bag before it sold out. The best thing about this whole experience at the Atrium Mall branch was that a week earlier I went to the Newbury Street branch about the same bag and they just shrugged their shoulders at me. Wanted to give a quick shout-out to this location for their customer service. I had ordered a pair of jeans online, trying to take advantage of a 40% off sale. It was a long shot since they were at least one size too big and (as expected) turned out not fit. When I returned them in store, one of the associates offered to check their back stock to see if they had another size that would work. They were already sold out online by that point. She even went back to the storage room to help speed up the process. Came back with the pair of jeans in the right size and I now have a new favorite pair for under $50. Customer service like that keeps me coming back to Anthro (might also be my slight obsession with boho tops that are also wearable to the office, but that is a different story). read more

Disappointing experience. Having had an appointment at the standalone BHLDN store in Chicago (which was fantastic -great service, huge selection), I was expecting a similar experience during my trip to Boston. But right from the get-go, I realized this wouldn't be the same. The MA location isn't a BHLDN store but rather, a small section of the anthropologie store carved out for BHLDN. Right away, you're not going to get anywhere as much selection when it comes to BM dresses, decor, accessories, etc. This would all be understandable, if not for the service. Yes, I didn't have an appointment (I'd already found my wedding gown, and was just there to look for accessories and decor). But how could the sales associate have known that, considering she never once acknowledged me or asked if I needed help? I was one of only two customers in the section for about 15 minutes, and not once did she even say hello. It should have been obvious given how careful I was looking through the veils, accessories, etc. that I was not simply a browser, too. I am not looking for a one-on-one experience if I don't have an appointment, but after the service I received in Chicago (Prosecco! Friendly employees!), this was truly disappointing. As a bride, you're looking for a bit more than the typical subpar mall experience, and I feel like that's what I got. Needless to say, I left empty-handed, even though I had planned on spending some money. I still love BHLDN, and the concept of it - vintage, unique gowns at reasonable prices. I came in this week for a bridal fitting. Katherine was my consultant and I cannot express just how amazing she was. I will be honest, I went thinking I wouldn't find anything I loved but now I can't stop thinking about the dress I put on. I am new to searching for a wedding dress but was pleased with how helpful Katherine was and how good she was at selecting dresses that would be a good fit. The one I walked away thinking about is not something I ever would have put on. I was at another Anthropologie location last week and they didn't have the dress in my size. The sales associate took down my information and said she would find the dress in my size then call me when she found it. I was patient and waited a week for a call, but then I decided to call this store at the Atrium (due to my good experiences in the past). They did not have the dress in my size at the store, so the sales associate took down my info and told me she would call me back once she located the dress. Within two hours, I got a call back and the dress would be shipped to me from another store by the end of the week. Excellent customer service. read more

I had a similar experience to one other reviewer; came here for a wedding dress appointment, and was completely rushed. Treated as though I was inconveniencing them. They would not even let me look around, and just brought me into the dressing room to try what they pulled out. My group and i saw a lot of potential mother of the bride and bridesmaid dresses, but didn't feel like we could try them. My consultant also kept speaking in hushed tones to me in the dressing room, reminding me to not worry too much about the opinions of those I brought with me....I love all the girls I brought and trusted their opinions 100%. The whole experience was strange. I would never give that store the business, I ordered a few potential rehearsal dresses off their site instead. read more

Super attentive and great staff! I found my wedding dress here! Made an appointment for a wednesday afternoon and brought my mom, sister and future mother in law. Our attendant, Lauren was FANTASTIC she was so laid back and chill. I had been eyeing a few dresses online so I chose those and she had them in the dressing room at the beginning of our appointment. The dress I wanted (which I eventually ended up buying) was made of this great stretchy lace material and the attached lining was SO soft. It will be shipped to my house in a few weeks (its on back order). Another fact is that they run in regular street sizes. My measurements are 34-26-38 and a size 4 dress fit me great. My favorite part of the store, unlike other bridal stores, is that all the dresses aren't in big plastic garment bags. We were free to touch, shift and look at everything and anything. This was a great experience- not stuffy, not over the top, just perfect for what I needed! Prices of dresses are around $1500, (and prices are on the website as well), but they range from $700-$2200. Bridesmaids dresses are reasonable too- long dresses are approximately $300. My maid of honor tried on a few bridesmaids dresses as well! I appreciate the overall idea that this company is trying to go for, but it is far too expensive for the quality of the pieces they are trying to sell. More importantly, if you're going to try to sell me something way overpriced then you should try to be nice and courteous to customers but instead I experienced rude and dismissive associates who seemed to busy to talk to me.
