Looking in how many Yelp stairs this place received is very generous. I am from California where flavor is a vital part of any food. My wife and I went to Anthonys to dine in. Ordered garlic knots which was hard dinner rolls with garlic on top,and the sauce tasted like watered tomato juice. The boneless chicken wings were chicken meat balls with hot sause. The sause was mild. The pizza was a meat lovers with little to no sause. The service was disoriented due to a shift change. First time I expected that we did not get a drink until we were seated for 10 minutes. The audience is hard to figure out. The place mats was a billboard with adds and different items on the wall. We had been passing by Anthony's Pizza III on the way to other places and since it seemed to always be busy (which we saw as a sign that people like it) we decided we would stop in at some point. Saturday 7/19 was that day. We needed some quick lunch so ordered online. Ordering was easy enough (done on the web through the DoorDash site. Anyway we ordered 3 of the hand tossed 10" Personal - Build Your Own Pizza and did not add on a ton of toppings on any of them. No drinks, no sides, no "special instructions". The menu lists the 10" Personal - Build Your Own Pizza at $10.70. I guess that must be plain cheese maybe? Adding just bacon, tomato, and extra cheese nearly doubles that price. Added a little tip and the bill was over $60 for three no-frills "personal" pies. Pickup was awkward. The doors were not well signed so we had a kind of guess which door to go to. Once we got inside it was obvious that this place was definitely a New York style pizzeria manufacturing mountains of good eats for the people driving through and walking in. Anthony's has that certain look and feel of the quintessential New York City Pizza shop. It is a factory. The facility is clean and well maintained. All our pizzas we're built as ordered: perfect doneness, excellent crust, really good ingredients. All good marks. I bumped down to four stars because it was simply too expensive. I am in sales and on the road which makes staying on Keto a little challenging, but in a small town of Stephen City, VA is this hidden gem! The waitress was very friendly and even when I asked for a specific type of meal, she and the cook were happy to hook me up! The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. Sometimes I look at the overall Yelp rating and think back to my own experiences and deeply ponder, "huh?". They just don't seem to match and so when this occurs I want to do my due diligence and share how amazing my interaction(s) have been. This is such a case. Stephens City is where some of my wife's family live and who we also tend to stay with while visiting. Anthony's is just outside the neighborhood so location is convenient. But also, they've been around for decades and the subs and pizza are unmatched. This particular location has a drive-through as well. What is there not to love? But I digress, as each review comes from its own vantage point and unique interaction. My go to is the cheeseburger sub. The bun is toasted perfectly, the grilled onions marry all the flavors, and the lettuce and tomato add just enough crunch to the mix. I highly recommend pairing them with some season fries (as in seasoned with Old Bay!). Oh don't get me started on that delicious appetizer/meal if you place two orders. The cheesesteak and pizzas have also been on point, when I ventured away from the usual, and those cannoli's end any meal with plenty of sweet goodness. This is my husband's go-to for ordering in a quick dinner. We order the special pizza ( green peppers, mushrooms, and pepperoni). He also gets mild wings for a starter. The wings are large and full of skin and meat. We've only had the hand tossed pizza, and that is good. I've also had their chicken dishes and salads. All decent. Delivery is thorough. While it's not my favorite, we have never had an issue, and my husband thinks of Anthony's as comfort food. read more

So tonight was kinda a disappointment. The waiters couldn't have been less attentive. Probably the simplest meal on the order almost doesn't come out on time. Other items requested took forever to be brought. The worst part is that there was only one other table. Not busy at all no real excuse. I personally had the appetizer basket. The mozzarella sticks (probably frozen) were the best item there. The chicken nuggets and the wings were bland tasteless and pitiful. I'm pretty sure it was a staff problem. If the staff doesn't care to be there or if they don't care about their customers then that effects the atmosphere and the quality of food. Subway was closed so I decided to order a ham sub from Anthony's. I have ate at Anthonys since the 70's when there was only 1 and that was on Valley Ave. in Winchester. Never have I been treated like this place. Ordered my sub and came to pickup at the drive thru window. Multiple people looked at me inside but never came to the window to give me my sub. This is the 2nd time this has happened and the last. The food is average at best. Greasy pizza and the steak subs always has a couple inches on each end with nothing in it but bread. Even the best part of the sub could use more meat. The customer service is horrible. There are plenty of other pizza shops to choose from in Stephens City. Chicken Marsala ... just no. Ordered this for lunch and was very disappointed. The sauce was so runny/soupy/watered down I could barely taste it and it quickly ran off the noodles. When I expressed my displeasure with the dish I was told the chefs all do it differently and this was more "traditional". I've never had Marsala like this before and won't order it again. Chicken was cooked well but hard to cut in the giant bowl and disappeared under the Marsala soup. I needed a pole to fish it out. Only ate about 1/3 of the dish. Wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Special with fries and she was very happy with her sub and fries. Water was definitely from the tap but taste was mellowed by a few lemons. Overall we will continue to go to Anthony's Warrior Pizza but will avoid the "Chef's Specials". read more

I was excited to see that Anthony's recently reopened after suffering a major fire last year, because my son and I had often ordered pizza and pasta from there. So, I placed an online order for some pasta. Their website informed me that my order would be ready for pickup in 15 minutes, so I waited 5-6 minutes and then drove the 7-8 minute journey to the restaurant. The parking lot was fairly full for a Tuesday evening, and the line for pickup was out the door. Inside, half of the customers waiting to pick up their orders were not wearing masks (none of the restaurant employees were wearing masks) and social distancing was nonexistent. I went to the counter to inquire about my order, and the young lady informed me that it wasn't yet ready. Forty minutes later... I'm still waiting for my order when I hear another employee (she appeared to be a supervisor) inform a customer that the restaurant was running one and a half to two hours behind on filling orders! Why didn't their website inform me of the delay? Good thing I didn't pay in advance; I just walked out the door. Their food is good but not worth that kind of wait. Decent enough. Same menu and prices as the others I've been to. Food consistency seems the same as well. What's is odd about this location that I'm not used to is that there is a waitress. I sort of like getting my own fountain drink refills and not having to add the cost of a tip. For two 12" subs, two fries, chicken nugget kids meal and three drinks, the bill came to $30 before tip. I prefer the locations on route 11 and 50 more. Also, a previous review reported that a 6% charge was added for credit or Debit payments. This is the Anthony's near my home. I've also tried the Anthony's in Front Royal but I'm just reviewing the Stephens City location. Oh, Anthony's....what to say.... Yea!: the only other place besides Ginger Asian that delivers to me pretty good Italian subs - they have banana peppers, a must they offer jalapenos as a pizza topping the delivery guys are usually friendly and sometimes surprisingly quick Ugh!: pizza is always bland and wet - How?! Why?! strombolis are super greasy - I feel gross after a couple bites I always have regret and guilt after eating the food here it makes me feel like a fatass caesar salad was far less superior than the FR location - iceberg lettuce in a caesar salad? rolling eyes..... Ooooohhhhh Stephens City location....+worst ever! I actually witnessed staff coughing in her hands with her mask down serving people their food! Of course the people that she was serving didn't see her in the kitchen coughing in her hands but she absolutely was!!! Little short small physique lady with a small nose piercing was the most filthiest! Cooks handling produce & all foods without gloves.......it was the most ridiculousness ever! NO HANDS WASHING AT ALL!
