As someone who flosses every night, brushes twice a day with a Sonicare toothbrush, mouthwashes twice a day, regularly wears a retainer at night, and didn't develop her first cavity until her late twenties, I was flabbergasted when the hygienist told me that I had ten cavities! She also told me that I would need a deep cleaning under my gums. (I didn't meet with a dentist after either cleaning, which I found odd.) I tried to rationalize that it was because of the three year gap between cleanings, but something just didn't feel right. A few days later I called for a copy of my x-rays and made an appointment with my former dentist. After reviewing the x-rays and examining my teeth the following week, he found ZERO cavities! On another note, my friend received a phone call from County Dental asking her when she would like to make an appointment to fill her six cavities to which she responded that she was unaware she had six cavities! Needless to say neither family will be returning.

Although none were terrible (well, maybe one was), we really just wanted a family dentist that was gentle, informed, and especially good with children. A friend told me to go to Dr. Alpert and literally described her as a "saint". I cannot describe how happy I am to be seeing her. She is extremely patient and sweet and gentle and friendly with the kids. They absolutely LOVE her and the hygienist. I know it sounds crazy but they cannot wait to go back. She reads them stories, has a treasure chest of toys, and has a kid friendly exam room. I am also going and cannot be happier. However, due to the intense fear I had regarding the pain that I knew I would inevitably be suffering after having dental work done - I kept pushing it off. Finally, I couldn't push it off any longer and went to see Dr. Sam Horowitz at ICGD. In my entire life,I have NEVER had such a positive experience at the dentist. Dr. Horowitz has been calm, understanding and extremely patient with me. He made sure I knew that he would take care of me. Despite my repeated need to be assured that everything was gonna be ok, Dr. Horowitz made it a point to remind me that if I did have an issue -pain or otherwise- he was available and reachable!
