Dr. Troxell was so extremely thoughtful with everything she did, her words, her movements her true love for animals and their family is present in her care. As hard as this situation can be, no one could make it as comfortable, compassionate and personal as Dr. Troxell. As we held Garfield one last time, Dr. Troxell simply and quietly said goodbye and showed herself out. She allowed us to stay with our sweet guy. Dr. Troxell left our home and we felt complete as if Dr. Troxell was the angel of mercy. Thank you so much Dr. Troxell. You are the Saint for all animals.

She was not in pain, but her condition changed minute to minute--sometimes worse, sometimes better--depending on progression and medication response. Deciding when to let her go was incredibly difficult. What I knew without hesitation was that, due to her severe stress at the vet, I did not want her final moments to be anywhere but home. Unfortunately, securing an at‑home appointment isn't always easy, and my biggest fear was that her condition would suddenly decline and I wouldn't be able to get someone to my house in time--forcing her last moments to be spent frightened at a clinic. Dr. Conner completely removed that fear and stress. She worked around our needs, scheduled appointments with incredible flexibility, and canceled or adjusted them without guilt or pressure. Her number one concern was always my little girl's comfort and dignity. That flexibility gave me the greatest gift anyone could offer in this situation--the ability to make the right decision at the right time, without the added stress of trying to force such a deeply personal moment into an external calendar beyond my control. We used their services back in 2018 when Phoebe's brother, Baby, passed away. We actually have a pet crematory just one mile down the road from our home, but we gladly drove over 80 miles to see them yesterday. We would never entrust our kids to anyone else. I've been in the funeral profession for 30 years, and my husband is in the field, too, so our standards for end-of-life care are naturally very high. The owner, Craig, used to be my boss at the funeral home he retired from. He has always been a mentor and a friend to me. Because I've worked with him, I know exactly how much respect and dignity he brings to his work behind the scenes. Craig and his wonderful team--including Andrea, Blanca, and Isabella--were just incredible. They didn't just provide a service; they truly went above and beyond. When we arrived, aromatherapy and true spa-like aesthetics filled the space. They brought us into a 'Farewell Room' that honestly took our breath away. They didn't place her on a cold table. Instead, they had gently tucked her into a beautiful woven basket with a soft pillow and a pink blanket, arranging dogwood blossoms all around her. The room was so warm, quiet, and peaceful. It was breathtaking and truly precious. When you work in the funeral profession, it can be really hard to hand over the reins when it's your own family. But Craig, Andrea, Blanca, and Isabella gave us the greatest gift possible: the ability to step back and just be a couple of grieving dads, knowing our sweet girl was perfectly safe and deeply respected. I live in the country , so my German Shephard and I walk the property as well as some of our…read moreneighbors orchards everyday. So he is almost always off leash given our location. One morning he ran off and I found him scavenging a carcass and before I could get to him, sure enough he got bone stuck in his throat. Fortunately it was not effecting his breathing, but he could not swallow and was clearly in great distress. I got him back home, called my Vet. They had no DR on staff until the afternoon. I then called every other Vet in my area, and they could either not see me because of being over capacity for appointments, or there was no Vet on Staff at the time. I loaded Max in the Truck, called ahead and told them we were coming. It was a long drive, 40 minutes with a dog in distress. When we arrived they got us in right away. Even though Max is a big , strong, and difficult dog, the veterinarian and staff were able to get the bone out of his throat with no sedation, no major procedure. They did not do anything extra, did not require an ultra sound of an X-Ray, and after all was said and done, it probably only cost me a little more than my regular Vet would have charged, and that was for an Emergency appointment. I know people will complain about the cost of VCA, but this is a 24 hour emergency service, and I for one am glad the community at least has this option given that extreme Vet shortage, and IMO anyone that takes on the responsibility of caring for an animal should be ready for things like this to come up. I found out they had moved when I went to the location on Oro Dam Blvd and they were closed. Called Chico and they said I had to bring my pet there for an exam in order to receive prescriptions that he already had. They had my pets' records, same vet. Had been with the Oroville vet for over 20 years and myself and other received no notice. VCA is a Corporate Entity looking out for themselves first, pets and pet parents second.
