I waited 7 months looking for a Sports Medicine Specialist to work my shoulder tear and…read moreimpingement. Luckily I was told of a new Ortho in our CVHP organization named Dr. Jason Tam. After reading his bio. and recommendations from other colleagues, I made an appointment with him. Knowing that I'll be 45 yrs old, he did remind me about wear & tear, but understood that I'm still young at heart. I wasn't ready to give up my daily activities. We tried various steps of treatment since surgery was the last resort. My shoulder was bad and I was down to my last option. Surgery was set at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital and it went great! He gave my wife a call with an update since she wasn't able to be there. That was very thoughtful of Dr. Tam. He then gave me a follow-up call 2 days after to see how I was doing. 2 weeks later, I'm ready to start physical therapy. The coolest part is he did the best he can to not scar my tattoos!

Have you ever had one of those Humpy-Dumpty days where things fall apart, including your bones?…read more Well, I had one. Between the compound/open fracture and the other broken bones, my morning started off tragically wrong. Thankfully, Dr. Tam is more skilled than all the king's horses and all the king's men because he was able to put me back together again! Dr. Tam impressed me with his straight-forward "this is what I would do if it were me" approach. I like options, but he isn't afraid to tell you what the best option is. Before surgery, he put his hand on my shoulder and let told me, "You'll be alright." He assured me he would do his best. His tone and the warmth of a human touch comforted me. I was very impressed by his skill. This isn't his first rodeo and he is very familiar with the ins and outs of surgery. I'm pretty sure he gave me a Borg implant, take a look at the picture and tell me what you think! I hope I don't start saying, "Resistance is futile!" Nothing but praise for Dr. Tam and I highly recommend him. If you need his services then you're in a bad situation. Trust him and he will get you to recovery as fast as possible.

I have multiple autoimmune conditions (on numerous immune…read moresuppressing drugs), COPD, and a clot in the brain, which makes me a somewhat higher risk patient, but he didn't flinch - unlike other surgeons who sized me up based on my other conditions. Despite needing 6 specialist clearances in addition to my GP's pre-surgical clearance, I found his office and their pre-admitting communication very efficient and clear, and he coordinated smoothly with my other specialists. Every question was responded to timely. I loved that all the pre-admitting info was clearly laid out so I knew where I was supposed to be and when. The pre-admitting department called exactly when they said they would too. There was valet parking on the morning of the surgery which made things very easy. My surgery went perfectly and my follow-ups have been great. I have found Dr Zouzias easy to talk to, thorough, and I appreciate that he took me on when others made me feel I shouldn't even attempt a regular tendon repair given all my other conditions. I got a recorded report from the OR after the surgery sent to my portal, which is amazing as often you don't remember the recovery bedside conversation so well in that hazy post-anesthesia state! He's a great surgeon and genuinely nice person. Office is spotless and staff have been wonderful too. Highly recommend!!

To whom it may concern,…read more I visited the Massapequa office and saw Dr. Lippe on March 6, 2026,because of pain in my left wrist. They took X-rays and found nothing so I was sent for an MRI which I had done On March 11, 2026. No one in the office was able to confirm whether or not an authorization was needed so my wife and I spent two days coordinating phone calls between the office, insurance company and Wantagh MRI to finally get this straightened out. This begins a world of frustration with this practice. I retuned for my follow up visit March 12, 2026, only to find that that was no concrete issue as to why I am experiencing the pain in my wrist so Dr. Lippe suggested a follow-up visit with the hand specialist and suggested that he call in an Rx for an anti-inflammatory to help me get some immediate relief. When I followed up with my CVS pharmacy Thursday afternoon I was told there was no Rx called in. After several phone calls with the office and being told that they would get back to, it is now Friday, March 13, at 1 PM and still no Rx or relief as I sit here in pain. My wife just called again and was told - "Yes we see the message and will get back to you" now 24 hours later. This was my first time at this practice and I would never return again not for a hand specialist or any doctor for that matter. I have been to many Doctors in my time and never experience such non- compassion or complete incompetence. I will make sure this is posted on every media channel can post it on as I sit here in pain with no relief after spend a week dealing with this incompetent practice. To say frustrated - is an understatement. To be continued...

Dr. Koutsoumbelis saved my life. I know that sounds a bit extra, but it's the truth. I had been…read moresuffering form a cervical nerve impingement for 6+ months and was working with another spine specialist group that made me feel that my pain and my herniation was commonplace and my reaction to it unwarranted. They played it down, and I began to think that the pain was all in my head and think that there was something wrong with me. I went to Dr. K feeling defeated and depressed, I had convinced myself that this was my new life and I would have to live the rest of my life in extreme pain. From the moment he walked through the door my mood began to change. As he reviewed my MRI Dr. Koutsoumbelis allowed me to unload my whole story...and he listened. He validated my pain and the emotions that came along with it. I felt heard and understood for the first time in 6 months. He proceeded to confirm that the injury I was suffering from and the pain it elicited was indeed valid. Dr. K then laid before me a surgical plan that he believed would fix my impingement and end this pain once and for all. He happily answered my questions and spoke to me like a human that mattered. We spoke about work and family and my goals following surgery. He never doubted my pain and expressed genuine compassion for what I had gone through. I knew within the first 5 minutes that Dr. Koutsoumbelis was going to save me, and although he said that he completely understood that I may want have other surgical consultations, I knew he was exactly who I wanted. Dr. Koutsoumbelis asked his surgical coordinator, Evelyn (sp) to work with me and try and schedule me as soon as possible, and she did! Her kindness and compassion was right on par with Dr. K and although the calendar was booked for nearly 3 months, she worked magic and managed to schedule me for surgery in less than 1 month. The road to surgery was a smooth one. The Massapequa office is a well oiled machine. Anytime I had a question or request for medication I would call and leave a message and someone would get back to me within the day. I office is busy, but I never waited more than 5 minutes to get into my appointment. They arranged everything for my surgery and gave me a clear schedule, never leaving me questioning what the next step would be. In my experience this is rare for a busy office, I felt looked after by a compassionate and competent staff. Dr. Koutsoumbelis performs his surgeries at the Mt. Sinai South Nassau hospital and from the moment I arrived I felt like a V.I.P. The nurses were absolutely incredible and attentive, they calmed by nerves and made me feel comfortable. One by one Dr. K's team came to visit me, introducing themselves and explaining the role they would play in my procedure. From the PA to the physiologist to the anesthesiologist, they were all total rock stars! Making me laugh and smile and most of all feel confident in what they were going to do. The surgery went off without a hitch and when I woke up the pain was gone...100% gone! I am blown away by the skill and comprehensive care Dr. K and his team were able to give me. The incision is tiny and Dr. K was thoughtful in it's placement. I have no worries that it will be hardly noticeable once completely healed. The post surgical care has been just as stellar as before the surgery. The office staff are kind and helpful, a wonderful group of humans. When I had a question regarding some of the post-surgical pain treatment Dr. K's PA called me and spent 20 minutes on the phone with me hashing out a plan. I continue to heal and feel more like my old self every day. I have been given my life back. I am now the mother, wife, daughter and employee that I am meant to be. I would encourage anyone that is currently in the kind of painful situation I was in to run, not walk, to Dr. Koutsombelis. He and his staff are an incredible team that go above and beyond to give you the highest level of treatment available.

The care team here is patient, kind, reliable, caring and understanding. The doctors accommodate my special needs by extending my appointment times to 30 minutes when needed. One experience especially stood out to me. I passed out at the reception area, and another patient immediately called for help. The nurse and nurse practitioner immediately came out, helped me onto an exam table, and stayed with me until I fully regained consciousness. They showed genuine concern for patients safety and well-being, and the nurse practitioner even escorted me out to the parking lot afterward. That level of compassion and attentiveness meant a lot to me. I have had very different experiences in the past at Charles B Wang Community Health Center, an Asian clinic, and that's one of the reasons I decided to move my care to NYU Langone. Here I feel safe, respected, supported and taken seriously as a patient. About 90% of the patients here are White, 2% Asian, 5% Hispanic, and 3% African American. Around 70% were born in the USA and came to the U.S. before age 12, 80% came from highly educated families, and 70% are financially well off. I am pleased with the quality of care here and feel comfortable coming here. Even though I am always the only Asian person here, I felt welcomed, safe, respected, and supported, especially as a person with a disability in that environment. As a person with a degree who values quality Healthcare, I highly recommend this NYU Langone facility.
