Story of the furnace: It was blowing cold air. We would have to turn it off for 30 seconds, then turn it back on. It would then blow warm air until it hit the right temp. Once it turned off and got cold again. It would then kick on with cold air. So we would repeat the process. We called Answer H & C who said they could come out immediately and look at it. Which I was grateful and the reason for an extra star. Once they started looking at the furnace, within minutes said it was because of our smart thermostat and the power adapter. They said we needed a new one. Which not knowing much about furnaces I took their professional opinion on it. I contacted the smart thermostat company and they said with the problem we were having is not due to their product. They wanted us to get something in writing from the heating and cooling company. Which we did not get in the first place. So I decided to contact a different company to see if they would tell me the same thing. Once again within second of taking off the panel, they saw some O ring that shouldn't be laying there in plain sight, and said we have a bigger problem. After taking 30-45 minutes inspecting the furnace they found we had a huge crack in our heat intake I believe they said it was. Which could cause carbon monoxide poising. By the state of Michigan they had to shut our heat off. Which this was the coldest week we have had so far. They showed me on the camera where the crack was and actually ended up finding two. We ended up going with that company for a new furnace since they were able to bump us up ahead of schedule within a couple days. Long story short, it seems like the Answer gentleman that came out did not want to work to hard and he realistically could have caused us more harm not fully inspecting the furnace. I was upset we paid $150 for him to come out and put the blame on the smart thermostat within 5 minutes of being there. Only reason I gave an extra star was the time frame they came out. If he would have inspected it and found the same crack I am sure we would have immediately went with them for our new furnace. Now I will look else where whenever needing any other service done. read more

Answer Heating and Cooling in Freeland, MI first came out to fix a board in our propane furnace / AC in the summer. Then in the fall when we tried to use our wood boiler (which interfaces to the furnace) it would not work. A new tech then came out and said he could not make it work without a relay which I bought for $100+ but when he left the wood boiler was stuck in heat mode. No to mention they wouldn't even come back out that day too fix it but told us to shut off our wood boiler. So I had to go online and learn how to wire a furnace board and fix the issue myself. In addition the extra relay I was sold wasn't even needed. They then tell everyone here that they never worked on my furnace. What a bunch of lies. I even had a service contract for 2 years. It's obvious they don't work on wood boilers since that's what they screwed up. If they couldn't do it they should have said so not try to sell me a bunch of parts I didn't need. Plus they wouldn't even refund my money! See attached invoice as proof. These guys really have no idea what is going on. read more

My daughter and son-in-law live in Freeland. While our whole family was there, the Bradford White hot water heater stopped working. Referred by Bradford-White to "No" Answer H & C I requested immediate repairs. The technician decided it needed a new thermocouple. Seemed logical. They didn't have the part. Ordered it from the supplier which took five days - even though I said I would pay to have it sent over-night. When it arrived, the tech determined that it was instead, an expensive part - the whole control unit. I'm a licensed general contractor with reasonable knowledge of HVAC systems and particularly hot water heater. The control unit could have been tested at the start. Instead through our whole visit we had no hot water to shower. Its a company that doesn't seem to care about quickly serving their clients. Their service people do great work, but their parts are WAY OVER PRICED ! Had a humidifier installed on my furnace, the unit cost about $ 300, found the same unit at a local big box lumber yard for $ 125. Another time they had to replace the controller for that humidifier, that simple little controller unit cost me $ 150. Later that night I went online and bought the exact same unit for $ 39 !! We experienced multiple errors and bad customer service with a simple repair. The repair rep forgot to attach the appropriate hoses after leaving for the initial inspection, causing us to not have heat until he returned. The same rep was a no-show on one of the scheduled days for repair. When he did come back, they had ordered the wrong part and had to re-schedule yet again. We had to call the office multiple times in order to verify when the new part would be in and repairs could be scheduled. Unfortunately when I advised the office of our concerns/disappointment with the service, "sorry to hear about that" was the only response received. We will not be using this company again! read more

Stay far far away from this company unless you want to spend thousands of dollars for a furnace and central air unit that do no work correctly. Answer was laid over 8k for a Daikin furnace and central air unit installed in February. They NEVER completed the job, and when they were refused payment, they used someone they know at the Saginaw County Sheriff's department to lie, use his badge, acting under the color of law to collect. Sgt. Garabelli FYI a patrol supervisor, who has sued the same Sheriff department he works for. Nevertheless, Answer was paid in full, they never charged our unit, there is a blockage in the line so no readings can be taken. Our house won't cook past 73 and the unit runs and runs and runs. They won't honor their warranty, nor their contract. They didnt even have a licensed tech install the central air unit. And they were the highest bid out of everyone, and have only provided the worst service and now I'm out 8,000 plus money for the three additional companies I've had to come look at the unit, fill it with freon etc. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY! read more

I first called Sunday because my furnace would not fire up. A technician called me back and told me that it would be better to call back monday to have someone look at it because he wouldnt have the part with him and that I might be able to buy the part cheeper online. He also told me that the part wouldnt be that difficult to install myself. I decided to call Monday morning at 9 to have someone come out to take a look at it. When I called they told me that there were 5 people in front of me and they would call me when someone was on there way. I called back at 1 to see if there was idea of when someone would be here and I was told that there was only one other customer in front of me. Now here, at 4:15, I just canceled the call because I have someone else coming over to work on it. The worst part of there customer service was the attitude I got when I told them that I have a 2 and a 5 year old that I am trying to keep warm when it has been less the 11ºF today. I am absolutely discussed with this company, and would not recommend them to anyone. Spend your hard earned money with a business that cares about your family and respects your time. read more
