A parking hint: there are a few parking garages situated in town because the meters are linked to a parking APP to pay with card or feed multiple quarters (25 cents for 10 minutes on Carlisle, Baltimore, York and Chambersburg! They had a window of luscious chocolates you could purchase in addition there were caramel apples and delicious nut and caramel clusters with chocolate on top both light and dark. I also purchased a marshmallow on a stick dipped in caramel with chocolate accents. There was a pack of 6 caramels I purchased too- so soft, fresh and delicious. Some of the items were quite dusty and seemed as if they had been there for some time. A lot of the items were things that can be purchased in Cracker Barrel or in other old-timey candy stores elsewhere. They offer modern candy as well, but overall, I was underwhelmed. I was quite surprised to see historic candies so full of artificial dyes. That was an eye opener. I was kind of surprised at the signage throughout the store. The signs seemed basic when considered all the endorsements that the store has. Maybe the signs were made to look less modern. I didn't end up purchasing anything but was glad to visit.

I was dad of the year since I never take them to candy shops! But what I found was just so great about this place was the unique offerings. It's a family tradition to make gingerbread houses and I found all the old time candy I used to decorate the gingerbread houses with my mom. They have ribbon candy, and just about any kind of candy you can think of. They also have clear toy candy, which is a very old type of candy that is very rare to find. I spent a near fortune getting clear toy candy at an old time shop in Philadelphia last year. And loved the selection this shop had. It still wasn't cheap but nowhere near what I paid in Philly! My kids couldn't help but pick out some candy for themselves and I got 2 bags of gummy candy that was about the freshest gummies I've ever had. Lastly, the shop has a really fun throwback of those quarter dispensers where you can put in the coins and get either a handful of candy or a toy. My kids were less interested in this. But it brought back memories for me of growing up in PA, and seeing these machines at all the local grocery stores. This shop is fantastic and I hope they continue to thrive.

It is my understanding they have been in business for almost four decades The elephants are on display in glass display cases in the back of the store. There is full sized animated elephant outside in front of the store. It provides a great photo opportunity for the little ones The store is chock full of candy, ranging from hard candy to chocolate covered raisins, peanuts and just about everything in between. The candy and chocolates are sold prepackaged and loose for added convenience, as well as offering candy dispensers. They offer nostalgic candies as well, such as candy sticks and candy buttons on paper strips. At the front counter, they also offer store made fudge and chocolates. The store is packed tight with all kinds of candies and novelties. The parking lot is small and can easily get full during busy times such as weekends and warmer weather. There are restrooms in the rear of the store. I definitely recommend this store especially for young families and those young at heart.
