I'm back to the annual update tradition that started nearly a decade ago, and the reason is that…read moreafter a year hiatus (thanks, COVID), Midvale's Harvest Days is back. So I spent some time here last weekend. But even moreso, I have spent far far far more time in the park over the last 4 months than I ever did before, due to the addition of a disc golf course. Now, back in the day (waaaaay back) I was pretty into the sport and have played on about 100 courses all over this fine country. But the sport blew up and is having a moment right now, so much so that courses are popping up all over the place and this fun little pitch-n-putt par 3 seemed to show up out of nowhere. It's great--everything is under 400 feet, and it's brought a lot of people out to the park that might not ever have made it over--truly making this a park for the people. Besides that, they've made some big improvements. There's now a massive pavilion over by the senior center, which is no longer the senior center, but rather a lovely little museum. It's a drought year so I take it easy on them for the condition of the grass which is, you know, not precisely lush right now. But it's beautiful to see them taking water conservation seriously. I'll be over there plenty often now, getting in a quick 9 holes in under an hour, but I'll also be back for Harvest Days next year. Until then!

The newest part of this park sits on top of the old Midvale Elementary School with small rolling…read morehills, and a small slide/swing/tricky bar area for the younger kids. There is a large area of grass that you could play soccer, flag football or even fly kites. I've seen people flying their drones, and racing their battery operated remote control cars here. The older section has a pavilion, bathrooms, and a small slash pad for the kids with another swing set close by. On Friday nights during the summer they have free concerts. Something for the whole family. Parking lot is on the small size for a park, and the Boys and Girls Club is near by, I believe they share the parking space. Practically had it all to ourselves. What a nice stroll. Sidewalk is clear of snow, except for the bridges. This truly is one of American Fork's best parks. Oh yes, I almost forgot. Yes there was flowing water in the creek. You know, the Dry Creek! And I have no idea why it says "Closed Now" online. Parking lot is open.

A nine hole putting green, all par two is just off the parking lot. It offers incredible views of Utah Valley, Utah Lake, and the Rocky Mountains that surround the cities of Highland and Alpine. Nestled on a large expanse of open grass and natural fields in northern Highland and western edge of Alpine at the base of Hog Hollow Canyon, the park and course has a (usually) dry creek that runs through it, with a few bluffs perfect for hucking discs into well placed baskets in the forest below. Red tees are generally shorter and basket is more visible. The front nine predominately uses the grass in the park; Hole 6 is the exception as the hardest hole on the course in the forest. The back nine is called the "Outback Nine" due to the majority of the holes in the forest and open park space. This is a public park. We do not have a pro-shop, we do not offer lessons, or sell products. We host tournaments occasionally and encourage all to participate.

The disc golf course isn't anything super special, but it's a good course to get some throws in. There is a walking path throughout the disc golf course, and the park was busy the night we were there. Be prepared to wait a little bit. We didn't mind cause we were catching up with a friend anyway. This park is also directly under the flight path, so you get to see a bunch of airplanes flying overhead which I loved! The trees also smelled amazing. There were a few big softball fields that looked awesome and also the rec center is in the same space. I would highly recommend checking out this park and playing the disc golf course.

And looking at the other reviews, it seems that there is far more to this park than just what I saw. I need to come back and continue to explore. The softball complex has great seating, large bathrooms and is well maintained. There's good lighting for night games and good visibility from any seat in the bleachers (I know, I moved around a lot-I get restless.) There's also ample parking nearby. I did opt to park a little further away from the field, knowing that some of the folks on the team I was watching can hit a ball pretty far and I didn't want to fix a broken windshield.

Huge disappointment! The hostess was extremely bitchy and annoyed by our request for a cart and to purchase beer that was for sale behind the counter. This resulted in the "club pro" arriving decked out in his camo cargo shorts asking if, "we had a problem." He was clearly a real tough guy peacocking for the 17-year old working the counter--super creepy vibe. Suffice to say, this is not how you want to start a round of golf. The icing on the cake was being admonished to "keep up with the pace of play" as we walked out of the "clubhouse." For those still reading, the pace of play ended up being 3 hours to play 9-holes. The course was overcrowded with multiple sets of golfers waiting to tee off on each hole. I don't normally write Yelp reviews. In fact, this is my first. That's how unprofessional and alarming this customer experience was for my family. Mulligans Shits Creek is a dump operated by teenagers and a middle-aged pervert. Stay away.

They have two courses, of which I played the "Haunted House" course. Their whole setup is based on these annoying (and wasteful) plastic cards. So even for mini golf, they had to sell me a card with the appropriate value loaded on it, then walk me out to the golf hut, swipe the card, and give me the equipment. And she didn't seem too thrilled about it either. But she did helpfully inform me that the cards cost $0.25, so if I ever wanted to come back, I should hang onto it. I did my best to turn my automatic smirk into a polite smile. And for rural Utah, the course wasn't worth $6.50. Unimaginative, poorly maintained (even for mid-March), and too easy. I shot four under par, if you don't include the three mulligans that I took because the rubber tee mats were bowed and caused my ball to skip. They have a little food area too with pizza, burgers, etc, but take the kids instead to Arctic Circle on Washington Street.

Large, shady trees, ample space for the kids or pups to run and play and varied areas for groups to congregate. This one has it all! I attended a gathering here and had a delightful time. There's a spacious parking lot, so if you're coming in via car, you can park and walk in. You'll cross a darling little stream over a tiny bridge and come up on a large pavilion. In fact, there are several pavilions scattered throughout that you can reserve for your group event. There are a few different playgrounds, a skate park, bathrooms and an impressive off-leash dog park on the south end. We spent most of our time at the dog park letting the pups run and play. It's a remarkable use of space-right up against an area that would likely not be very usable otherwise, but it's been turned into the perfect area to throw a ball for your four legged kiddos. It's got shade, seating, water fountains and a few climbing features to keep the pups engaged. This is definitely a park that I look forward to returning to.

Unlike many other courts, each court here is actually separate from each other and there is plenty of space in between each one. There is also a really cool system to determine who is up next when you out your rackets up. Which is just a simple wheel/arrow that can be turned to identify the group that is up next. The park is huge and has a little bit of everything--open fields, a nice playground, pickleball courts, and peaceful, shaded walking paths. I often play spikeball here with my friends too, and it's a great space for that. The park always feels clean, and there's usually plenty of parking, which makes it super convenient. That said, a few weeks ago during Steel Days, they held a carnival at the park, and it was packed. Parking was really difficult to find with so many people there. But outside of special events like that, it's usually not a problem. Overall, it's a great place to hang out, get some fresh air, and enjoy time with friends and family.
