One of the best comic stores I've ever been in. Friendly staff and a large selection of comics. But the best part of this store is the displays of figurines! I've never seen such variety and craftsmanship. I brought a friend who isn't a collector and he said he could stay for hours. It was just amazing to see from an art standpoint. Bought some reprints for dirt cheap. I like to hang them on my walls. They had an X-Men #1 from 1963 reprint I've been looking for for a long time. They had lots of them...I regret not picking up another for a friend while there. I totally agree with other reviewers in here: I love the way they have organized the shop. Me and my Fiancé were in to do some Christmas shopping. We were ignored and when I ask for help I never got help We kept looking just to see what was there. We finally left I said good bye and nothing was said back. We just went online and bought the sideshow stuff off there, it must be pretty nice for a store not to need our business in this economy. We will never be going back also I don't think they are LGTBQ2 friendly. read more

Wow, blow me away Batman! And Robin, and the Hulk, and GI Jo, and Wonder Woman, and Yoda... and ... and. I love this store, this is a huge inventory of comics, action figures, bobble heads, t-shirts, books, etc from DC to Marvel Comics. My inner child was running around the store, screaming, and summer salting, thank god my adult self was there to keep her in check. This store is so well laid out, I am not a comic expert but I do know a well organised and easy to find lay out. There is an area, just dedicated to Marvel, to the Hulk, to Trekkie fans, to Star wars fans, to Walt Disney fans. There is also a very nice selection of collectible comic books hanging behind the cashier's desk, the top row being hard to get comics from the 40s. WOW. I was absolutely thrilled to find this location which is in fact the only location in Calgary so if you have a comic obsession you know what dimension to beam yourself to. OH.... MY... GOD!!! Welcome to Geektopia, Nerd Mecha, the socially awkward Shangri La. I'm out of analogies, but you get my point. Walking into this place, I swear I heard choirs singing and trumpets blowing. If there's even a little bit of you that likes anything remotely comic book related (including the movies, t-shirts, or maybe you're just a student of pop culture and like seeing what gets people geeking out) this is THE place to check out in Calgary. I just went into Another Dimension (hehe... so fun to say that. I get why they picked the name.) for the first time yesterday, and I can safely say I've never seen a comic shop like it. The previous posters were right when it comes to finding things you can't find anywhere else. I went in looking for pieces of a fairly rare 9-piece set I'm trying to collect after going to 5 different shops and only finding 1. Another Dimension had 6 of the remaining 8 (the final two are near impossible to find anywhere) in ABUNDANCE, as well as a bunch of other things I never dreamed I'd find in the city and had already (stupidly) bought online and paid well over price WITH shipping fees. Won't be doing that again without checking this place. I would also say the pictures on here MUST be out of date, as the store looks practically empty in them compared to what I saw. I was actually flabberghasted that fire mashalls didn't shut them down for having so many shelves so packed with stuff all within one store. The claustrophic in me wasn't a big fan, but my nerd side was breathing heavy in anticipation. The organization is a bit different from what I've seen in many other comic shops, but is actually rather effective and convenient once you figure it out, and their wealth of non-comic (though generally comic related) products is astounding. Plus.... gigantic Hulk statue. That's just badass. Honestly, even if you AREN'T into this kinda stuff, I would say it's almost worth going in just for the experience. I've been to comic shops all over the world, and Another Dimension is definitely one of the best. It's brightly lit, well-organized, and boasts a selection of comics (both new and old) that rivals any other shop. Moreover, their staff are knowledgeable enough to find any obscure book you might be looking for; a tremendous boon. Whenever I'm in Calgary, I always make it a point to seek out Another Dimension. Ah, Another Dimension. One of those independent, local comic book shops that have managed to survive over the years. I remember in elementary school (yes, they've been around for 20 years at least) when they had multiple locations around town, but they've consolidated in this current location, which, if memory serves, is the largest location they've ever occupied. Easily accessible by transit, which is my favourite thing about this store. Their selection of back issues is extensive, and they have shelves upon shelves of the current stuff as well. They carry a decent selection of action figures and other related collectibles as well. Like many comic shops, they can keep a pull list for you, or special order anything they may not have in stock, although to be fair, if you know you're looking for a graphic novel or a trade paperback, you can save a few bucks by shopping at an online book retailer instead as many of the items in the store are sold at cover price (like many brick-and-mortar book stores). These days, they charge US cover price on items plus an exchange rate, which is kind of annoying as the Canadian dollar is above par on the US greenback at the moment, and yet to my knowledge, I've never paid less than cover price here (before tax). They also don't include a free bag and backing board like other shops do (or used to? Haven't frequented many shops since my University days) when you buy a new issue. But I guess there's a reason why they've managed to stay in business for so long (i.e. smart business decisions). That said, even though I don't collect as many comic books as I used to, whenever I have the need, Another Dimension is the first choice that pops into my head. read more

While they're selection is impressive, the customer service is atrocious. Another Dimension comics is not my usual place to buy comics, but seeing as my normal store had sold out immediately of Thor #1, I had to shop for it elsewhere. Normally, I boycott the store due to poor customer service and this trip was a reminder of why I do just that! Upon entering the store, I was ignored by the staff. I wandered through the store looking for the new releases (which, one would think would have their own special spot in the store -- they do not). I struggled to find what I was looking for, STILL ignored by the person on staff. When I had finally managed to find what I was looking for, I was ignored by the staff at the counter. When he finally did acknowledge me, he refused to make eye contact and wouldn't speak throughout the entire sale except to tell me the price. Every single encounter I've had with Another Dimension staff has been horrid, ranging from experiences like these to instances where they've been downright rude or have lied about the stock they've had in ("You said on the phone you had it"/"I didn't ACTUALLY look"). If you're looking for somewhere to buy comics, spend your money in a local store that actually cares about their customers and customer service. read more

Love, love, love Another Dimension! First let me say I'm so happy that this shop can exist and I feel compelled to buy from them to ensure they continue to exist. My meager purchases probably don't amount to a hill of newsprint but I try. This store has a decent balance of current titles, gaphic novels, toys and impressive art both statue and print. The staff are knowledgeable and I never feel out of place or not geeky enough (likely don't look like a typical fan of the medium). Was recently in on boxing day and they had awesome deals that made it impossible to buy just one thing. Proud to say I'm in here at least once a week, its just too convenient on the way home and that I've continued to find new and interesting things to read along with my original titles. read more

What a great comic book store! In our youths my husband and I were both comic book fanatics. So it was only natural by genetics our kids would love them as well ;). Their interest definitely exploded when we visited this comic book store on FCBD. So much to look at one needs to take the time going through the store. The staff were uber friendly and clearly loved their jobs. We ended up picking up more than our free comic books since the prices were reasonable. The kids have asked when we will be back and I'm sure it will be soon! read more

Great selection and good quality items. However, the customer service is very poor here. I have had at least 3 times where I am told they have a comic and will hold for pickup and I arrive only to be told by the guy at the front desk that actually he thought he had it but he doesn't. Other instances where they hold a comic book and then when you arrive they say that actually they are all out now... No explanation, no apologies. Made many trips for no reason and I am not the only one. You cannot actually speak with a manager because they say there isn't one and there is no contact for the owner. Really too bad that their service it so poor it really taints the experience. read more

When you cant seem to locate that hard to find comic, Another Dimension usually has 55 copies left. I adore this little shop of nerd located in Kensington right off the Sunnyside station LRT. What makes it a 4 instead of a 5 star is that the bags, boards and boxes are a bit more expensive than my usual comic shop. The other is that their wall of collector's comics (I cry that my brain keeps telling me not to buy the Avengers #1 that's there) are non-negotiable, set prices. The asking prices aren't horrible, but the Scottish in my blood is cheap and wants to barter. A good stop for any collector. read more

After going to Another Dimension Comics for over 25 years I'M DONE WITH IT. a) The place always smells like cigarette smoke. b) They charged me an additional conversion fee that inflated the price of my comic by a few dollars stating that everything comes from the U.S. so they have to. They only tell you this after they've rang it in. They may have cause to do this but Phoenix did not do this to me. There is already a converted Canadian rate printed on the cover. That's what I paid at Phoenix Comics Inglewood: cover price. You may have a different experience in these places idk maybe it had something to do with me, or the title, or whatever but a few dollars a tradepaperback is a huge difference. c) They're often sold out of the titles I'm looking for or have sold me bent comics with the explanation that after time that's what happens to tpb's. d) Find the staff very inaccessible as they sit behind their massive desk, and not overly friendly. It's too bad because I love their model section and the overall feel of the place. They got great toys and online notifications. I've got asthma so I don't appreciate the smell of smoke, nor the feeling of getting ripped off. read more

Fantastic shop. Massive selection, and also have a file system so that you never miss an important issue. They have a huge selection, and you can often find a fair few back issues, just incase you missed one or two. The only danger is that you spend all your rent money for the month in a day. read more

Great selection of merchandise at very fair prices. Nowadays I always try to support local businesses vs buying on-line. However after making calls and even driving to the store to make pre-order on an item to no avail I resigned to ordering on-line at the end. I would not hesitate to buy something from the store that's in-stock. read more

Their selection is good and nicely laid out but the staff are too busy socializing with each other and are not really helpful. I was going to spend about $400 on trades and back issues but my daughter, who is six years old had to use a washroom and they said that they didn't have one and that I could go to the Safeway beside them for her to use it. Nonetheless, I left my purchases at the counter and walked out. Service is terrible and will never shop there again nor would I recommend anyone to go there. read more

I freely admit that I am a bit of a geek. This store gave me a full on geekgasm. Not only is their selection superlative, but their staff are absolutely some of the best I have encountered. I was out all over the city looking for a VERY obscure Shakespeare graphic novel. I knew it would be like looking for a needle I a haystack, so I wasn't surprised when many of my local vendors didn't have the particular book I was looking for. Going for broke I went to Another Dimension as a last ditch effort. When I walked in the door I was confronted by stack after stack of beautiful glossy comics. I'm not ashamed to say I squealed in delight more than a handful of times. There was just SO MUCH STUFF to look at. It must have been some kind of kismet that my first visit to this shop landed on "free comic book day." The store was jamming. After looking around and not finding my coveted Shakespeare graphic, I decided to ask for help. At first I was worried that because the store was so packed that I was likely going to get lack-luster service. Boy was I wrong. The people there are attentive, friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable. It wasn't long before one of the sales associates was able to find what I was looking for, and end my quest. In addition I picked out two of their "free comics" for my niece, and was a genuine hero for my nerdlet in training! I will be back! over and over and over... read more

its a damn grate shoppe , as i am a BIG BIG BIGX10000000 ....BIG Superman fan and unfortunately they don't have much of his great stuff just common things not that unique BUT for other action figures they have some rare statues , heads, a lot of starwars ,HULK etc... and that creepy batman , i have not seen in other Calgary comic book stores , you just wish you had money to buy this unbelievable collection , i would give them 5 stars if it wasn't for Superman . read more

The customer service at this shop is very hit and miss. Every once in awhile they will say hello, but more often than not you are flat out ignored until you're buying something and even then the exchange is chilly. I prefer places (especially SMALL places) where the staff interacts. Even if it's just to be friendly during check out. They also have zero clue how to price Funko items. They have gone with being on par with bigger stores, to a little more expensive, to flat out ludicrous. There is no reason for them to be priced at $17 at brand new. I understand charging a buck more or something because it's a small business but after that, sorry, I'm going elsewhere. Other small shops do not charge that much and frankly, are friendlier. Their selection of comics is incredible but that does nothing to erase the cold atmosphere (often punctuated by loud, terrible films) and rip off prices of toy items. read more
