Only two down sides- no sewer hookups and limited cell signals. And since we full-time in the RV and work from home, both have an impact on our day. The up sides, however, were great: pool, hot tub, bar, mini golf, restaurant (that only serves on the weekend, so we didn't get to try it), super quiet location mid-week with lots of scheduled activities during the weekend. They offer kayaks and canoes for the little lake adjacent to the property, but hard to tell if anyone goes out there much. We will definitely keep on the list for vacation days or weekends when the cell signal doesn't matter so much.

We brought our two children who were entertained the entire trip. If you have children, there is literally something for ALL of their ages. For teens, there's a game room, shuffleboard, a swing/trampoline/launching blob and a raft in the lake; for children old enough to adventure away from the camp site, there are bikes that are more like large peddle cars, the pool with balls and a basketball hoop, a water slide, a bounce house, mini golf, a bike ramp for regular bicycles, a large playground and games made up each weekend, like scavenger hunts. For the toddler age, the water slide and pool is a great way to spend time away from the camp site with the little guys. The adults are included in the fun too!!! Saturdays has a Tiki bar that have beverages of the adult variety along with sensational grilling food. There were even grilled corn dogs! Different weekends have different events which can include a band or karaoke at the pavilion. The weekend we went had "Christmas in July" with people decorating their sites with lights and all sorts of Christmas lawn decor. There were wagon rides at night. There are golf carts and paddle boards to rent along with games like beach volleyball, badminton and ladder golf. There's so many options for adults with or without children. Between the things to do and the GREAT upkeep of all of grounds and facilities, this is the place to camp!

Being an earshot away of any conversation your neighbors might have. I like my privacy. The cabins have all the luxurious of home minis running water. There is an AC unit, small fridge and even a microwave. A perfect way to throw some clothes and a some pillows into the car and go. This campground like many is geared toward families. There is a nice pool, games and climby things for all the littles. I was disappointed to learn that they planned to have a movie night. Isn't that the point to camp? To get these kids away from screens? I was sad that I had to listen to the booming speakers going through the camp for 2 hours so these kids could watch this movie. It was a complete distraction to the peace and quiet I was looking for. The prices of the cabins are kind of a lot at over $100 per night but they have 1 queen bed and a set of bunks. I would return but would prefer to come during the non peak time.

Some other spots were nowhere near as spacious, so it depends on what you are looking for and what type of camping equipment you are bringing (rv or tent). The clubhouse was very nice and clean, with great shower and bathroom facilities. The electric at our spots were 20 amp, so it caused us a bit of an issue running A/C, fridge and an electric griddle. It is my understanding that some of the sites have 30 amp service, but not ours. Prices were very reasonable.

Park offerings include camping for trailers and tents with electric & water hookup available. A large playground and sand beach area. A large paved boat launch with ample trailer parking. They provide overnight dock rental, rental pontoon boat and other water toys. There is a very reasonably priced retail store for those forgotten supplies. The park also has a snack shack offering fast food and different ice cream treats. The park has a nicely remodeled room and patio available for rental for receptions & gatherings. Shawano County Park has something for everyone from activities to just relaxing in a swing and watching the lake waves splash ashore. A true forget your troubles park. Located right on Lake Dr with many entertainment venues in each direction.

Boot Lake Recreation Area is wonderful park on the shores of Boot Lake…read more There's a hiking trail, beach and swimming area, as well as a campground. We recently stayed in the campground, which was great. Their sites are large and offer plenty of privacy. We were in spot #26 (there's only one loop of camping spaces, so it's definitely on the smaller side) and it was a long campsite with our trailer nestled at the back. We had tons of privacy with a canopy of pines overhead. Each campsite has a fire pit and picnic table. There aren't hookups but they do have clean and well maintained pit bathrooms (no showers or plumbed bathrooms). Like most campgrounds, they ask that you purchase your firewood within 10 miles of the campground, which was easily done. We purchased a huge load for $20 at a nearby house. The lake itself is gorgeous (so clear!) and we enjoyed kayaking and swimming. We stumbled across a rope swing and had fun swinging into the lake. There's a hiking trail that seems to go around the entire lake. We took it about 1/4 of the way before turning around but had we had more time would have made for a fun (long!) hike! One of our favorite campgrounds thus far in Wisconsin! Get to it!

Each time we encountered staff (from the reservation phone call to check-in to a stop in the office for ice) they were friendly. The campground itself is pretty small and seems to be new. There isn't a lot of shade or privacy here but once the trees fill in, they'll offer more cover. There is a small office onsite that opens at 8a and offers snacks, ice and firewood for purchase. There is also complimentary coffee which was nice. We were told there was a cell phone booster at the office but we had a REALLY hard time getting service, even with that. One-stall bathrooms are available and they were insanely clean (and air conditioned!). Showers are available (a $2 donation is requested) but when my husband went to use them Sunday morning they were either closed or someone was hogging them for over 20 minutes . This was before the 8a office open time so it's possible they were just closed. There is a man-made water pond with inflatables for the kids. We don't have children ourselves so we stayed pretty clear of that and the nearby playground. Yard games are offered for guests as well but we didn't use them. They have an area for "dog exercise" but it's not that big and it's very close to other campsites - not totally sure what the purpose is but it's a nice gesture. The campground was very quiet when we were there - not even half full. Between the heat and being the weekend before the 4th, I'm sure that had something to do with it. We did notice they had a handful of permanent sites here. We would definitely camp here again.

Simply the most beautiful spot in all of Wisconsin. This park has a nice campground along the…read morePeshtigo River, and the park itself has trails snaking all over. Stop in here for a breathtaking view of the Peshtigo from one of the picturesque foot bridges that criss cross the numerous islands and side channels and the entrance of Swamp Creek into the Peshtigo. The islands themselves have quaint little cabins that can be used to protect your food from the insects and the elements during a summer picnic, party, or family reunion. There are numerous grills and firepit/grills with chimneys. These things are so cool! The park looks like it should be teaming with trout because it is home to every type of prime trout habitat. Within 100 yards there are rapids, riffles, pools, runs, pocket water, sand and boulder structure, timber, and more. However, I have yet to ever see much less hook into anything. But it is nice to enjoy such a beautiful scene. There is a trail that connects this park to Goodman Park. Be careful to go left when nearing the beaver dam, as the trail skirts the damn, and it is treacherous if you are in a hurry.

We completely understand the no-refund policy if the site were to remain vacant, but that is not what happened. They re-rented our site to another family and still refused to refund us a single penny. In other words, they collected over $300 from us AND another $300 from the next family for the exact same site and dates. This is nothing short of dishonest and greedy. I could have accepted losing my money if the spot went unused, but profiting twice off the same campsite is unethical and unfair. I will NEVER visit this campground again and will warn everyone I know to avoid it.
