Our main pediatrician, is Dr. Kathleen Swayne and she is beyond amazing!!!! We cannot express our gratitude and appreciation enough for her exemplary management of Ryan's health, her outstanding treatment, dedication, and true care of our son Ryan. Since my family relocated here CHKD has been nothing but a godsend and a gift. Their constant consistent care and concern for our son and our family and the praises we have for everyone there cannot be put into words. Throughout our visits to this practice we have seen every single phenomenal provider: from Dr. Downey, Dr. Powell, Dr. Jones, Dr.Tyler, and our primary Dr. Swayne. We also have seen their amazing nursing providers: Harley Bonneville CNP, Beverly Coleman PNP and Amelia Fitts FNPC. There are many serious areas of improvement in medial care and treatment that this small town needs, however the only solace and medical constant that I have is knowing that I have this pediatric practice for our son. I know every single time that I call Pediatric Associates of Williamsburg, PAW, that I will speak to the wonderful front staff representative that will always answer my call with a smile he is their hello and do their absolute best to make sure Ryan gets seen or that my issues are resolved. As a mother who could ask for anything more than to have pediatric care that goes above and beyond. My son has severe sinus difficulties, and unfortunately we visit more frequently than most and there has never been a single time that I have had a poor, bad, or not so good visit...They consistently amaze me with how much they care and I am tearing up as I write this because I hope every single one of the employees at PAW realize their importance in our lives and what a positive impact they make. There are so many nurses and staff that make this practice amazing, Emily, Ashley, Bethany, Karen, and I know because I am on the spot writing this and I know that I am missing soo many others but know that each and everyone of you play a part in my absolute sincere gratitude and thankfulness that my son has this group as his pediatric practice. The practice manager Alicia has been a gift and a joy to know since I met her four years ago. I can only imagine how much patience, care, hard work, dedication, and energy that goes into her job. She handles the entire practice and her efforts to do amazing work and get situations taken care of, know that your hard work and true care has never once gone unrecognized, you're amazing!!! Alicia is incredible at her job, I have spoken to her when she has had to answer the phone when short staffed. I've seen her handle a multitude on top of multitude of issues at once, never once looked upset. Alicia is an example of someone that leads by example and has clearly dedicated their heart into their job. They all lead by example and are all there for the parents but most importantly they are there patients, the children that that care for and treat. CHKD Pediatrics of Williamsburg is an example of how a medical facility or any business should run, they set the bar and you know that each time you are welcomed into their practice. Even the newly hired patient care coordinators at the front learn your name and your child's name as quickly as they can because they care!!! When you have all different departments of medical areas and employees aligned with the priority of caring for the patient first, you get a winning team, a positive environment, a practice that is trustworthy and dependable. Well Emily on the phone with the big ego decided to correct me on how Neocate is pronounced like it even mattered in the first place ? So i show up at 4pm after thy demanded i come in with Ava anyways and i talked to the boss in front of the brunette girl that sits at the front and waited for 30 mins and heard the girl in the teal blue scrubs and her saying how i was a no show and we no showed our last appointment which was because my daughter had the flu and had just gone to the ER and she was recovering ANYWAYS but then the girl in the blue scrubs called me a HATER. LOL and so i whip around the corner and im like who???? Me???? And i said you're talking about Nastasi right and she said yes and i was like I've been here since 4pm and she said "you didn't check in" and i said I was talking to your BOSS right in front of you ??? It's her job to check me in and so then blue scrubs comes out and acts like she didn't call me a hater and i said "oh hey it's so nice to meet you since I'm such a hater right ??" Absolute crickets.. do your jobs and maybe let's not talk bad about our clients in front of them because idc where you come from you don't disrespect a postpartum mom especially ones that have CMPA. There are now two groups of physician's that are in the same space. Our kids have been with Dr. Strasnick almost since we moved to VB. We are picky and did not like the first doctor's practice and sought out by word of mouth on who we should change to. Several friends said this Sentara group that Dr. Strasnick is a part of. She never seems in a hurry in the exam room and provides a great experience as her bed side manner is very nice. The staff is just wonderful and nurse Mary who is exclusive to Dr. S. is the best and most time just funny. The early hours for walk-in sick is bar none awesome. You can walk-in without an appt from around 7:30 AM until 8:30 AM. You do not get to choose your doctor, but can be seen by one of the group practice MD. They always have a movie running in the lobby for the kids and try to divide the sick and well in the lobby. If you need to schedule a sick visit you usually can get in within same day, or next day. Appointments are very easy for a non sick visits too, usually within a week. The kids always get to pick a sticker, or pencil before leaving. If you need school forms etc. they are emailed which is really a nice touch to get the info quickly. Also Sentara has all the records online by obtaining an account. The office is extremely clean in both the lobby and exam rooms. Next month the office will be moving, so expect an address change Sept 13. For anyone looking for a new doctor, or making a change this is an awesome office and great doctor. Don't take my word, look her up as she has won many local BEST Doc awards for Hampton Roads. The group as a whole is first class, RECOMMEND!

Each of his exam rooms are themed differently. Harry Potter, Sesame Street, Mr. Rodger's and lots of Disney which is Dr. Butcher's favorite place to vacation. I received a call in November that I needed to repeat a lab, & when I asked which lab & why, I was told I would need to make an appointment (with Amanda Schaffer, PA) to find out. . I raised this issue with the office manager,Tammy. She did not really respond to this issue beyond acknowledging I SHOULD be able to get that information from the office. ⁣ NEXT I WAS TOLD I NEEDED AN APPOINTMENT TO GET A RENEWED PRESCRIPTION for a lifetime medication. I HAD ALREADY 1) had an appointment, 2) new blood labs were ordered specifically for a new prescription, 3) lab results are the basis for writing a prescription, THEREFORE, THE PCP IS ABLE TO RENEW THE PRESCRIPTION & HAS NO NEED FOR FURTHER PATIENT ASSESSMENT. NO FURTHER APPOINTMENTS REQUIRED. The 3rd time this office told me that I had to have an appointment was for a medicare annual exam. Then he couldn't get me in for my actual physical which I was under the impression that's what I was there for which I had already waited 6 months to get in, for 3 more months, then he cancelled the physical a week out. Then I went to Knudsen for endocrinology and that was the costliest waste of time ever. She did nothing but run duplicate tests and shared the results. Pointless as all get out. $800. Her office was the worst I've ever been to. You walk in and directly in front of the entrance is a desk where obviously one would expect to be greeted, but they rudely tell you it's the other window, and they are for the lab( maybe switch desks since i proceeded to watch twenty people go through the same thing ‍) then take a seat, but oh the couch is missing it's cushion, enjoy. Then waiting in the exam room I observed that it actually has never been cleaned. There was arm cheese on the chair and the exam table was filthy! Thank God I wasn't having an exam! Dr.Knudsen was friendly but such an odd scatterbrained woman. She didn't actually talk to me, she talked out loud as she typed into my chart slowly, it was the strangest experience. Huge waste of time and money. My heart rate was high when I got in because they were anxiety producing. The nurse said I'll check it again before you go. It was still at 100 but she waited until it said 99 for a moment and said ok that will do, obviously because 100 is the cut off for issues and she didn't want to deal with it. Then I was checked out by the picture of endocrine health, an almost bald overweight woman with a thyroid scar who could barely speak.

They have a sick and well child waiting area with TVs and books to keep them occupied while waiting to be called back by the nurse. The front desk staff is super nice. You walk in it's colorful full of books for the kids to read also have mask for people who are sick because who wants to be next to someone coughing not me. The wait for my Dr was not so bad It just took a while because they lost my sons paper work which was probably a bad communication. So our stay was a bit longer then usual. I really enjoyed the staff and the atmosphere here and I'm glad I choose this office for my sons needs. They're really great and have a good staff behind them. Thank you
