He was seen in the Emergency Department, the Pediatric ICU, and in the in-patient Neuroscience unit, along with being seen by doctors in Endocrinology. Every single person, from the nursing care partners, to the nurses to the doctors and specialists, were fully engaged in his treatment and care. They provided regular updates on his status and the treatments he was receiving. Their professionalism and dedication made this scary experience much easier to deal with and I was confident that my son was receiving the best care possible. In addition to the amazing medical staff, the rest of the CHKD staff was very helpful and attentive as well, to include the dietary specialists, the intake registration, the janitorial staff, the Chaplain, the pharmacy and the integrative care team. I've never had such a positive medical experience in my life and I really want to thank CHKD for helping my son through this difficult situation.

Dr. Wadsworth was warm and engaging, sat down and gave me her full attention during our meeting to answer and go over all my questions I had written down. She was gentle and kind with my fussy (hungry) baby and I immediately liked her. She did not make me wait long in the exam room with an undressed infant and I like their newer, updated office space. Parking was easy enough. Hopefully we've found our spot for our new baby for years to come! The only issue I had was no separation in the waiting area between sick and well patients. Then we were dismissed from the practice because I got upset and vocal about it. We were not informed of the dismissal. In addition, the Newport News health inspector has been contacted, saw dried blood days old on the floor when at this practice in December 2015. I was also told to "rub my child down with Crisco" for a skin condition. I was told it really helps the skin not dry out. Just for the record, the below is the appropriate and legal method for a practice to dismiss someone from their practice. Statutes that matter In very broad terms, a practice can legally extricate from a physician-patient relationship if they do the following: * give the patient adequate notice in writing preferably by certified mail, return receipt requested (30 days is generally acceptable); * give the patient a brief explanation why you are terminating the relationship; * document notification and the reasons for termination in the patient's medical record; * help the patient find another physician; * offer to transfer medical records to a newly-designated physician upon signed patient authorization to do so; and * continue to provide care if the patient remains in need of care. Physicians take an oath to always act in the best interest of their patients, and they are expected to abide by it. In fact, doctors, unlike patients, face legal and ethical restrictions before they may end relationships with patients. Your doctor has both ethical and legal obligations to provide services to you as long as you need them. If your doctor does not appropriately end the relationship, he or she could be liable for a claim of patient abandonment. According to the American Medical Association (AMA), abandonment is defined as "the termination of a professional relationship between physician and patient at an unreasonable time and without giving the patient the chance to find an equally qualified replacement." We were never given any such chance and at no time did the practice help us or assist us in finding another physician.

No one from the office ever called me back about my complaint. Instead, the very next day (Sept 17), when I tried to set an appointment, I was told my daughter had been dismissed from the practice. Once the office realized my other daughter was her sibling, they dismissed both of my children, effective October 16, 2025. My daughters have been patients here since they were babies. One has asthma, and this sudden dismissal has disrupted her care. This was retaliation, plain and simple. The staff is consistently rude, unprofessional, and dismissive -- I now see why so many other parents have left similar reviews on this page. If you are a parent considering this practice, please think twice. Families should never be treated this way for raising valid health and safety concerns.

They gave my daughter too much peanut treatment for her "challenge". As her face is getting puffy and I am trying not to lose my cool, I asked sarcastically if they were going to give her meds?? Dr. Moss goes, "do you have Benadryl in your purse?" I looked at him in disbelief and quickly got my Benadryl and gave her two children's Benadryl. After 30 minutes, she STILL wasn't getting better. I went to the nurses station and let them know she wasn't getting any better. They gave her an adult Zyrtec and told me just be patient. As I am fuming, they don't even come to check on her until I opened the door wide open and flared at each person who walked by. This is not the only issue. They were fantastic before covid. NOW, we have YET to have an appointment go ON TIME. They are LATE every time with HORRIBLE service. Every person is disgruntled or seem as if they don't want to be there. Their customer service went to hell. I do not plan on going back and looking at options to report to the military. If they go back to how they were, that would be great but the last year has been a nightmare with them.
