This West End shop has been promoting Glasgow artists for about 150 years: it has regular solo exhibitions, and seems to find work that is both suitable for the front room but retains a bit of contemporary edge. The paintings are often scenic, but still ask questions about the nature of art- expect strange perspectives, interesting use of colour and more.
Best way to enjoy the Annan is to catch an opening- it's when the wise arrive to check out the artist, and is usually full enough so that it is possible not to feel singled out.
