I was attracted by the handsome building and bright colours of the Phoenix Gallery, and was very warmly welcomed there on a dull and bleak January Ayrshire day! The gallery itself was beautiful; housed inside a tastefully refurbished Victorian Era building, where there were lots of pieces to peruse from a variety of exhibiting artists. The gallery manager Jett proved most welcoming, informative, interested and most of all, a lot of fun to talk to, and it was fascinating to learn of the background to her gallery and the artists. Whilst spending only a short time there, some of the works catching my eye were spectacular.
I'd definitely recommend a visit to the Phoenix gallery; you can't help but admire the boldness of such an elegant creation amidst the current bleakness which pervades in Ardrossan and much of North Ayrshire. If ever there were a reason to spend time In Ardrossan Town before boarding the Ferry to Arran, then this surely, at last, is it?!! read more
