About a year ago I was very ill with a severe intestinal tract problem and medical doctors were at a loss as to how to treat it. A friend of mine, whom I greatly respect, said she had been seeing Anna Thomsen and was certain that Anna would be able to help me. I was so sick that had lost 35 pounds in three months. I met with Anna and she used not only her acupuncturist training, but also skills that she has acquired and developed over the years using various approaches to treatment. Anna treated the condition and has put me on the road to health. She has a multi prong approach, she's intuitive, educated, and experienced and all this comes together to the best possible outcome. I saw Anna back in 2007, and had a terrible experience. I would not recommend her. Her judgement is poor, and she is not an M.D. She needs to stop giving her opinion about subjects that are not her specialty. She caused much pain in my life, that affected other people in my life also. read more

My experience here was awful. My initial visit, which was sort of like an overall health evaluation, left me in tears. I had kept a food diary, and had eaten a few things while visiting relatives out of town that probably would not be a good idea on a regular basis. I was reprimanded a number of times for these food choices in a way that was not very constructive, to say the least. I had let her know that I was traveling during that time period, and did not have access to all the food choices I normally do, but that did not seem to matter. Although I mentioned in several contexts that I was allergic, sensitive and unable to take many substances, such as supplements and vitamins, I was sent home with some samples to try, all of which I have had before. I tried once again to take these substances, told that they were "hypoallergenic" and once again, experienced the allergic reactions that I had in the past. It was like I was talking to a wall. I don't have any problems with home offices, many places I go are conducted in small, personal places, but this location is just not right for this type of service. In a word, unprofessional. The acupuncture booths are separate from the entry and consultation desk by a few feet and a curtain. During my second treatment I had to listen to a long, drawn-out discussion, about a patient's health. The patient, a man, could not maintain a whisper, I heard every word, and I wish I had not. The treatment I had itself was painful and left a bruise on my stomach. It seems that everything that was supposed to be treated actually worsened after the treatment. I did not know that my acupuncture treatment would include repeated pushing on my internal organs, and it would have been a good idea to have a discussion about the benefits and purpose of that procedure. I in fact asked when I was scheduling my appointment what the exam entailed, after I was told that I would be "shocked" by the exam. I did not get an answer. I was also concerned about a large pile of apparently used needles in an open container, adjacent to the clean, working needles. Weeks later, I am still having problems relating to her pushing and prodding on my stomach. I let Ms. Thomsen know by letter, and asked for a refund of the fees. I did not request anything else or indicate that I was pursuing legal action. Nonetheless, her response was to send a check with the disclaimer that if I cashed the check that I would be waiving any legal rights to pursue any damages, could not complain about her and that i was agreeing to her distorted version of facts. This is apparently not the first time she has had a problem with a patient, since she seems to think she might have some legal issues ahead. read more

I went to Anna Thomsen on the recommendation of a dear friend and she has the most amazing abilities to discover and prevent deep ailments that are hard to detect. She prescribed a regimen of supplements and checked up on me often, as I went from feeling malaise, rashes, aches and pains, and fatigue, to feeling like a kid again after a short month of treatment. Her office space was very clean and comfortable and I was never nervous. Anna has a special kindness and warmth that makes you feel right at home. Thanks Anna Thomsen. Anna is one of the most helpful, intuitive, AND knowledgable health practitioners I have ever come across. Long term issues with digestion, mood, and a cluster of other mysterious issues brought me to Anna's office and her scientific understanding of (and degree in) Nutrition combined with her *many* years of study and practice of Chinese Medicine created a synergy of diagnostic and treatment modalities that was so on point it was mind-blowing at times. I truly wish I still lived in the area simply to be able to see Anna whenever I'm having a health issue, because although I have lived all over the world, I have never encountered anyone who has helped me as much as she has. read more

I have been seeing Anna for a few years. She has been really helpful in treating my allergies, back pain, sinus problems, digestive problems, etc. She is very good at listening and cares a lot about helping. The first few trip I could feel the needles enough for them to hurt. After about 4 trips they stopped hurting. Probably because I stopped anticipating pain. I know fall asleep on the table. Between the acupuncture and vitamins I have been feeling much better. I would and have recommenced Anna to anyone needing help. read more

Sadly, our experience was similar to Janet G.'s review on 10/1/12. My partner went last week for acupuncture treatment. It hurt. AFTER the treatment was over, and after complaining it hurt, my partner was told to sign two forms which she did not understand and nor were they reviewed prior to the acupuncture; One was the consent to treat covering risks and benefits, which should have been given and verbally reviewed PRIOR to treatment; the other was a form to sign away/waive our legal rights forever in pursuing any future type of law suit in court with a jury. As I told this practitioner the next day in person when I came to her office to pick up copies of these forms to see what in fact they actually were, there was no "true informed consent" without prior notification to the patient and without the content of the forms being understandable to the patient as well. read more

Anna has a talent that not all acupuncturists have. She is very in tune with each patients health and body and calmly and carefully guides her sessions to meet each person's needs. She is able to communicate with the body, which is absolutely amazing. The acupuncture space is below her home, which has a beautiful fruit, flower and veggie garden I really enjoy seeing as I walk down. There is a beautiful view as well. Inside, the bamboo floors, soothing music and clean smell are always very comforting to me. She has a dark room and a light room to choose from. She provides heat if its desired. She begins every session with traditional chinese medicine, checking the tongue and discussing how I have been feeling both physically and emotionally since I last saw her. Her energy is very calm and focused, and her knowledge of chinese medicine and personal health is very beneficial. I have never met anyone who is able to connect with my chakras, my energy and my emotional and physical well being the way she is able. As she puts the needles in, she explains what organs the different locations of the needles are supporting and helping which i appreciate. Once the needles are in, which is not painful at all, patients get to lay on the table with wonderful relaxing music and sleep for 40 minutes or so. I always wake up feeling really good. Professionally i find Anna to be very valuable, knowledgeable and in tune with a style of medicine that not many people are truly good at. Personally I have a wonderful relationship with her. She is soothing, kind, considerate and very grounded. I have been seeing her for the past year and I am so happy to have finally found the right acupuncturist for me. read more
