We're expecting our first child and want to be as prepared as possible. Taking an infant/child CPR class made our short list of things to do. I searched for various options and Anna's version is practical for parents (not necessarily meant for folks who are looking to get certified) and cost effective. On the day of the class, we met in an auditorium with about 16 others; most of whom are new parents/parents-to-be like us. Anna had infant and child size dolls for us to practice on and she stressed the importance of muscle memory. We started with handling choking scenarios and then moved onto the CPR. Everyone had plenty of opportunities to practice and ask questions. I hope that we will never have to use the skills we learned in Anna's class but at the very least, it makes us feel more comfortable knowing what to do in case our baby needs us. read more

I took the Infant/Child CPR class with Anna last weekend. It was very well-organized with all of the information you need to respond correctly to a choking/unresponsive baby/child. We got great handouts and tons of hands-on-practice on dolls. We also went over child proofing the home. Anna was a great instructor and the 1pm-330pm course went by quickly. She was adamant that muscle memory was key to remembering what to do if a crisis arises...and advised us to practice on stuffed animals when we got home. Which we will do tonight! read more

I'm pregnant with my first child and my doctor recommended taking an infant CPR class. I was looking for a short class that was specific to infant CPR, and not the typical 6 hour general CPR course with some infant CPR thrown in. Anna's class definitely fit the bill! Anna was a knowledgeable, engaging, and personable instructor. She really emphasized muscle memory, so everyone got lots of hands on practice and specific, personalized feedback. Even though the practice was the most useful part of the class, we also got some helpful handouts to take home, and Anna reviewed general child safety best practices as well. I also appreciated her thoughtfulness and attention to detail - she had hair ties if you needed them to practice mouth to mouth CPR, and provided some snack bars even though the class was only 2.5 hours long. We hired Anna to come over and give our family a training course in child and adult C.P.R. She was great. The class lasted about 3 hours and I came out feeling very comfortable with giving the Heimlich maneuver to anyone including a child. We went through C.P.R. on adults and children and practiced under different situations: choking, heart attack, electrocution, drowning etc.. I learned so much. Anna is a great teacher, she's patient (and you need to be with our group! lol), goes into detail without making you lose interest and she kept up the pace so we wouldn't lose focus. Also, the demo dummies were clean and in good shape (a must when you are putting your mouth on them). I have had participated in other in home C.P.R. classes and I can honestly say I have never learned as much as I did in this one. I highly recommend her for parents, childcare workers, teachers, elderly caregivers and anyone who would like to really be able to help and adult or child who is choking or unconscious and not breathing. I'd never taken a CPR class so this was my first time and even though I knew it was important, I wasn't too excited about it. From the very beginning though it held my attention and gave me lots of useful information, like the top 5 foods toddlers are most likely to choke on. The class was also interactive and involved a lot of actual practicing of maneuvers and techniques instead of just learning from a book. Anna was a perfect teacher too. She was very competent with a lot of field experience to share and she was extremely well informed with up to date best practices. I never realized that CPR training is constantly being updated and one should get retrained annually. read more

Ms Griffin came to our worksite to day from 9-3 and taught Infant, Child and Adult CPR (and EAD). She was very professional and knowledgeable and had enough teaching tools and materials for everyone to work in pairs. She had interactive activities and spent time with each student. I had been a scout leader for over 10 years and have many years of helping or training with 1st aid and CPR. As a scout leader and public school teacher I had to be certified every few years for a long time. Also I was a CPR instructor 20 years a go, and saw she had a good style of teaching and was truly interested in teaching. I'd recommend her for your firm or group, or personal needs. I recently organized a CPR class for the childcare providers in our babysitter's collective and Anna was great. Most of us had been certified before so we had experiences to compare it too. One of the sitter said "This is the first time I have taken a CPR class and felt like I could actually administer CPR." It's true, Anna teaches well. Anna is interactive and bright. She uses a multimedia approach but doesn't leave the teaching to the book or the video. Things are repeated so that you have a grasp on what you are doing and then they were practiced so that they were integrated. I can still heat the theme song in my head. There is something that feel really silly about giving CPR to a dummy and what I loved about how Anna taught was that she made room for the giggles without ever taking the topic lightly. My husband and I took the Infant CPR class on Saturday! As I am in my 3rd trimester I felt this was crucial information to have! It was informative and I feel prepared if an incident occurs (hopefully it never will). The class was small enough that everyone got hands on experience and Anna walked around the room the whole time to make sure we were doing it correctly. The class was 2 1/2 hours and it flew by. You don't receive a certificate, it's more for parents who want to have CPR information, if the need arises. I preferred that as I didn't want to take a 6 hour class and take a test afterwards! I would recommend this class to parents (and anyone who takes care of children) who have never taken a CPR class, and to ones who have but need a refresher! read more

This woman was great! I am a teacher of 17 yrs and have take many Cpr/first Aid trainings. Usually they are so boring and hard to sit through, especially considering they are 4 plus hours.. My wife and I just completed an Infant CPR class with Anna Griffin and we're both pleased with the class content and her delivery of information. Anna's class was very interactive and "hands-on." My wife and I were very impressed with the good mix of instruction and exercises. I went because I had taken CPR classes over 20 years ago and had never had to treat an infant. My wife is in her 37th week as of this writing. Both she and I have taken CPR classes and both found that regular CPR classes don't really cover newborn, infant and toddler cases very well. The class was a practical hands-on session that covered need to know information for busy parents - how to help your child if they stop breathing and how to prevent it from happening in the first place.
