I live in Austin; Ann's treatment was amazing during my infertility journey, 8 years ago. I looked her up to recommend her to a friend, but looks as though she's relocated to Richmond. Sad for Austin but great for Richmond! Austin will miss Ann-she's amazing-very knowledgable, extremely helpful all while having wonderful bedside manner. I trusted her with my health for 2 years and she did not disappoint. I wish I could visit her now. She was a special part of my journey and I'm so grateful. read more

I had a painful arthritis flare on my left wrist with a painful red hard lump that came up overnight after three days of wrist swelling and pain. Ann did extra acupuncture on it and the same hour lump was down. By 2-3 hours later ... this hard lump was more down and no pain. Today 24 hours later all of it is almost resolved. No redness No pain or swelling and can I can move my wrist normally. I am thankful for Ann just being herself. Her loving nonjudgmental and open self makes the energy of acupuncture provided by her wonderfully therapeutic. I love this quick affirmation of my arthritis flare on my wrist that was painful and hard to move is essentially resolved. I already had faith in the process of acupuncture and in Ann to provide it .... and that was affirmed today for me. I send many warm thanks to Ann read more

It's difficult to write a review for Ann without it sounding all swoony, but the truth is she has been one of the most invaluable assets in my healthcare arsenal. I started seeing her when I was having mysterious ailments that a slew of 10 specialists couldn't figure out. I was in a lot of pain, and not only did her gentle care help alleviate my pain, but she also worked to help me feel empowered about my health and self care. Anyone who's ever had to spend a lot of time with doctors knows how important it is to have a health practitioner that listens and genuinely cares for your holistic well being, which is exactly how I feel each time I leave Ann's office. I cannot say enough great things about her practice or her personality. She is my favorite and I highly recommend setting up an appointment before I grab them all for myself :) read more

Before visiting Ann, I had never experienced acupuncture and wasn't sure if it was for me or if it could solve all my problems, but I was encouraged to give acupuncture a try after a coworker told me of her own experience. I found Ann on Yelp and after reading all her wonderful reviews, I knew she'd be a good fit. I've been seeing Ann regularly since July and she really has changed my life in so many ways! I came to her originally because I had experienced years of stomach aches and bloating and had recently become very irritable and had trouble breathing . Within a few weekly, sessions she helped resolve all of these issues. We then moved on to tackle general sleep issues, stress and a long lasting sciatica issue. I now visit Ann on a regular basis, consult her for supplement advice and truly value her insight into how and why my body may be reacting a certain way and how acupuncture can help bring it all back into balance. I always look forward to seeing Ann and cannot recommend her enough! read more

Simply put, Ann is amazing. She is extremely caring and knowledgeable. Originally I went to see Ann because of my hypertension. After only a few months of treatments and Chinese herbs, my blood pressure was down to 112 / 72! She has helped me with all kinds of issues from back pain, allergies, anxiety, to general balancing. If I could go every day, I would! read more

Miracle Worker!!! I am thrilled to write Ann an outstanding review. I had my gallbladder removed two years ago and last fall I started having "phantom" gallbladder pains. After many doctor visits, being referred to a specialist and numerous test, the cause of my pain remained a mystery. I was exhausted, losing sleep, and just plain miserable. A friend referred me to Ann and to be quite honest, I was quite skeptical of acupuncture. Boy, was I in for a surprise! Within weeks of seeing Ann my pain level started to decline, and overall I just started feeling better. In fact, to date, I am pain free for the first time in over 6 months!!! I'm telling you, she knows what she's doing!!! On the plus side, on top of being pain free, for the first time in my life I feel like I have a normal appetite. For most of my life I have struggled with over eating and being over weight. Since seeing Ann, my appetite has decreased, my anxiety, periods, cravings, and weight loss have all improved immensely. I had no idea how much the acupuncture would help me in other areas of my life, so this has been a nice surprise. Ann, unlike my past experiences with several doctors, really listens. That was my biggest problem with the specialist I was seeing, he just was NOT listening to me! Plus, he always seemed rushed and would spend MAYBE five minutes talking to me. Ann is extremely compassionate, a wonderful listener and just really seems to care. I am so grateful to have been referred to her and so glad I decided to take a chance and open my mind to something new. I've been sharing my success with everyone in hopes that they can too can benefit from her knowledge and care. Seriously can't recommend her enough! :) read more

I've been seeing Ann for almost a year now, and I love working with her. Ann's got this great presence. And it's obvious that she cares about her patients--she emails in between appointments to check on how I'm doing, and she's always on the lookout for new treatments and herbs that might help me. I've recommended her to a bunch of friends and coworkers, and I'll keep doing it. I couldn't be happier with Ann. read more

Ana is amazing!!!!! She is so so nice and so so nurturing! I am from out of town and needed a last minute appointment! She was able to accommodate me and and help relieve pain and stress! Fantastic place. Ann is wonderful and really knows what she is doing

If you looked up the word HEALER in the dictionary, it might very well say Ann Mowat. I have been seeing Ann for more than 5 years, the beginning of which was perhaps one of my very lowest points. But since then, Ann has helped facilitate my reach toward many of my highest ones. I will be forever grateful for her gifts. Her treatments are gentle, like she is, yet incredibly powerful ... just like she is. And it seems that there isn't anything she can't help with. Anxiety, stress, pain, addiction, fatigue ... anything that ails you, she can treat. I will always be grateful for Ann, and I will continue my path with her on my road to wellness (which never really ends, does it?) for as long as she will have me. read more

Blue Juniper (Ann Mowat) works miracles with needles, and I recommend anyone interested in exploring the power of acupuncture to go see her - especially anyone active in sports, or recovering from a sports injury. Last summer, I injured a nerve in my back training for a bicycle tour through the Alps that caused some muscle groups to atrophy and allow my shoulder to misalign. The resulting shoulder injury did not require surgery, but also did not respond to physical therapy as quickly as I had hoped. Ann began a weekly regimen on my back, neck and shoulder - along with my physical therapy - that achieved instant and lasting results. Now, almost a year later, my shoulder and back are almost 100% recovered, but I find Ann's artistry with those tiny needles effective in relieving the day-to-day strains that cycling puts on my back and neck. Having never experienced acupuncture prior to seeing Ann, I cannot compare with other practitioners. But the combination of her technique, interest in and knowledge of active lifestyles, and gentle, caring nature is something that is rare and truly unique. -P read more

I was referred to Ann by a dear friend. She and her husband were trying to get pregnant for months with no luck and after two sessions with Ann, they were suddenly expecting. I visited her for the same reason and within two sessions I too was pregnant! Throughout early pregnancy, Ann balanced my hormones and helped me deal with nausea. As I progressed, I had a severe carpal tunnel flare up (I guess it is common during pregnancy?) which she also helped me through. I am very grateful for Ann's nurturing, thorough and intuitive care; she genuinely cares for each of her clients. Her office is also a lovely cozy spot for a midday acupuncture nap :). I couldn't recommend her more. Thank you Ann for helping my family grow, we are very excited! read more

I just read all 27 of Ann's 5-star reviews, and I full-heartedly agree with every word of praise. She is simply incredible! I first saw Ann because of a recent yoga injury (labrum tear). I had seen an orthopedic surgeon who ordered an MRI and diagnosed the injury. He believed it could be managed/improved without surgery, so he recommended physical therapy. After several months of PT, I really wasn't noticing any improvement. I was beginning to think I would just have to live with my injury, which made me feel frustrated and depressed. (I am a yoga instructor, so yoga is a huge part of my life.) A very good friend suggested I see Ann. This friend had raved about Ann for as long as I'd known her, but I never really considered acupuncture as a form of self-care. But I was desperate, so why not??? All I can say is that I am SO GLAD I went to see Ann!! She has healed me in so many ways, and after 4 weekly sessions, my hip is back at baseline (how it was pre-injury). In the meantime, I had all this other stress and chaos going on in my life, and a couple of times I went to see Ann in tears. After every session, I felt renewed and refreshed. She really is an incredible human being and a gifted healer, and I will continue to see her on a regular basis because I find it even more beneficial than massages. ANN HAS MADE ME A BELIEVER!!! read more

Ann is a total gift to this planet -- a talented provider and a beautiful person. She listens attentively, she needles accordingly, she remembers and incorporates previous information, and she heals. Her workspace is a total sanctuary and the whole experience feels nurturing and supportive. I started acupuncture as a luxurious treat, but it has been so effective that I am a total believer in its routine use for wellness. Now I am a repeat customer and derive great value from the sessions, both mentally and physically. It feels amazing to have Ann looking out for you! read more

Full disclosure: I am also an acupuncturist. I was having a problem with my ankle that had gotten so bad that walking was becoming very painful; I was even in pain just sitting. So at a loss for how to heal this myself and thinking the problem pretty serious, I went to my MD. She told me that somethings just can't be fixed. What?? That is when I reached out to Ann because I knew she had been through a very extensive post graduate sports medicine program and figured maybe she would know what to do. She didn't promise anything as that is not the way she is, but said she would use what she knows and that there would likely be a good outcome. Well she was right. After one treatment I was walking much better and in much less pain and after 8 treatments I went for a little jog. So from barely walking to jogging in a couple of weeks left me even as an acupuncturist, amazed. Plus Ann has the best bedside manner I have seen. Confident and caring in a way that puts you at ease. I have even recommended to patients that they see Ann instead of me because I think she will be a better help to them. Thanks Ann. read more

I just wanted to write an update because I am still seeing Ann regularly and am just as pleased with the results as I was a year ago, maybe more so. Most recently she helped me recover from a sinus infection that had not responded to two different kinds of antibiotics. Furthermore, she has really improved my chronic pain and overall sense of health and well-being. I look forward to having a long relationship with Ann. read more

I have been seeing Ann for many years and she is absolutely amazing. Her clinic is a true sanctuary and I always leave there feeling calm and balanced. Ann is so knowledgeable, is truly gifted and just being in her presence has a healing effect- probably because she is one of the kindest and most compassionate people I have ever met. She's helped me through extreme anxiety, hormone issues and adrenal fatigue and I continue to see her as part of my self-care maintenance. I cannot recommend her enough. Thanks for taking care of me these past 8 years Ann. I appreciate you more than words can say. read more

I've seen a few - but none even come close to Ann. She is gentle but clearly knows what she's doing. Put me at ease - literally - and quickly. Hands down AMAZING work. I'm so glad she's in Austin! read more

I have been back in Texas for about six and a half years and in that time I have experienced many big life changes (quitting drinking 6 months after moving here, getting divorced after 28 years together, becoming a single mom). I've gone on some adventures that required my health to be optimal (4 times to Burning Man, a solo excursion in the Appalachian mountains, a trip to Brazil,) and I've created and continued some super cool projects (wrote a book, recorded an audio version, started Bedpost Confessions.) And in the interim I lived my new Texas life. The life I had thought previously might be cut short due to my relationship with alcohol ... And all along the way in this new life of mine, there has been an energizing, healing and grounding constant: Ann Mowat of 512Wellness, a beautiful force of a woman for whom I have the deepest appreciation and an abiding understanding that without her help I could not, would not, be living the happy and meaningful life I have today. Thank you Ann, for giving me -and all of those you treat- the many and glorious gifts of you. Thank you for helping me to get my life back, for listening, hearing, seeing, loving, attending, tending and mending me. Your wisdom is boundless, your empathy and compassion radiant, and your ability to heal beyond comprehension. I love, trust and respect you more than you will ever know. ~Sadie read more

Not to sound dramatic, but my experience with Ann was life changing. I had never done acupuncture before, but 2 friends saw Ann and told me I needed to give her a try for my anxiety and digestive issues. Wow were they right! The morning of my first appointment I was feeling very under the weather, exhausted from a night of no sleep, stomach was very sour, my entire body ached...I was dreading the appointment because all I wanted to do was go to sleep. Ann was so warm and friendly, and she did a great job explaining to me what she was going to do and why acupuncture works, etc. She made me feel calm and understood, and I wasn't nervous about the needles (which I barely felt at all) because she helped me feel so relaxed. After we were done, I literally felt a like a brand new person. Ann even said I looked "sparkly". I felt like I'd slept 100 years, my body aches were totally gone...it was incredible. Words cannot describe how much Ann helped me in just one day, I cannot wait to see how I feel and where I'm at in a a couple months. read more

Ann's healing hands and tools helped me navigate the grief of my sister's murder, cured me of a mysterious recurring skin rash, and restored mobility after a lower back injury. Way more importantly, she's been an essential part of my emotional self-care. I love the way she describes how acupuncture works -- like clearing the leaves and sticks that are keeping the brook from flowing -- and while I don't understand it any more deeply than that, I know this: I am whole and healthy because of Ann's treatments. read more

A friend of mine gave me Ann's card and I made my first appointment with Ann for my allergies. I didn't realize that I would be meeting an angel of such loving care. Ann immediately instilled a sense of confidence, kindness and real caring. Ann has addressed many other aspects of my well-being with such great results that I can't wait to see her for my next appointment. I don't do doctors and had never tried acupuncture, and wow! Ann is one of the most gentle, kind and loving people that I have ever met. read more

Words are awesome, results are amazing! Meaning the words I would use are awesome, caring, wonderful experience. The results that are amazing include going from I cannot walk to walking after one treatment. I was in Austin and walking on Red River road when a crack in the sidewalk caught me by surprise. It went pop! Surge of pain! Cannot walk! My knee was in so much pain. I flagged a pedicab ride to my hotel and started looking for someone who could treat me. Even though her schedule was booked Anne fit me in the next day and each hour after I saw her there was slow improvement and by the next morning when I went for second treatment I was moving. Slowly but without pain. If I lived here I would go weekly - she treated my pain but also my distress, calmly, clearly and helpfully she was there for me. The office is beautiful and not far from downtown core- I went by pedicab each time and enjoyed the ride. If you think acupuncture might be for you (not something I've done much of before) or have something that needs healing and support - I say go to 512Wellness! For sure! read more

Ann is awesome! She is nurturing, caring, intelligent, and very knowledgeable about acupuncture and sports medicine. In one treatment she did more than my physical therapist. She was patient, helpful, and educated me to my complete satisfaction on all my questions. Being athletic, I clearly see the need for Ann as part of my regiment for monthly maintenance let alone this injury I currently have. read more

Um, I have been seeing Ann for several years now and have no excuse for not writing this review sooner. Seeing her is seriously the highlight of my week. She is friendly, she truly cares, she knows how to listen, and she knows how to make you comfortable. While she's treating me I can hear her brain working and I know that she's doing the best she can every time. I go and see her even when I don't have any major issues - I feel more relaxed and like I fit better in my own skin after each treatment. She has prescribed herbs that have helped me - both with allerigies and anxiety. She appreciates my cute socks. I love her to death. read more

Ann Mowat is a certified specialist in Austin trained by the highly regarded Sports Medicine Acupuncture. I was plagued by severe plantar fasciitis for six months as a result of too much tennis and worn out tennis shoes. I sought help from podiatrists and sports medicine specialists who advised anti-inflammatory drugs and months of physical therapy sessions, with only slight improvement. After a few sessions of acupuncture with Ann, I'm able to play tennis again pain free. read more
