    Bislett, Frogner

Pretty good hotel in Frogner district, Oslo. Pensionat means 'boarding house' which is one step…read moreabove a hostel in NOR. Felt like an older hotel with some recent updated private rooms, including heated floors in the half bath. Bed was uncomfortable though, but for one night it should suffice for most people. No food in hotel but they give 20% discount downstairs. Walking distance to shops and restaurants in the area, and everything else via public transit stops. The worst thing is no parking whatsoever, so if you're bringing a car (semi required in NOR, but not Oslo, be prepared to pay through the nose) . Every parking in the city is paid, and the going rate is $30 US per day. Free wifi and $1 for coffee. No TV in the room. But overall it was a pretty decent stay.

This place is more like a hostel, basic without shampoo, shower gel, etc.; hot shower; room was a bit cold (not well heated); location is at the edge of the city center, a bit far, but close to National Theatre and Royal Palace; does have lots of coffee houses/cafes, restaurants and shops nearby; noisy at night on the street with trollies and people. Staff seemed cold, they help you, but didn't look happy. The room is spacious with a simple kitchen. The building still maintains its original floor and stairways, nice! They also have a luggage storage room for you to leave your luggages which is convenient. For the price I paid, I feel it's not a good value.

The reviews seemed okay but there didn't seem to be a lot of information on it. But the price was very good and it seemed well-liked by past customers, so we booked it. This hotel gets 5 stars from us for these reasons: - Beautiful scenery around the hotel. Perfect for hiking and enjoying winter scenery. And the top of Oslo, with breathtaking panoramic views of Oslo. - spacious hotel without feeling like a hotel franchise. It's almost felt like a bed and breakfast. Extremely quiet rooms. - friendly, helpful staff - great (and free) breakfast buffet with hot and cold foods including bacon, eggs, seafood, fruits, cereals and a tasty selection of homemade breads. - very well kept grounds. Spotless and looks newly-renovated. Gorgeous indoor infinity edge swimming pool with saunas and a workout room. - just up the hill from the ski jump. Lots of skiers, sledding, and other winter sporting around. Take the elevator up the ski jump for about $15 US for a great vantage point. Go at sunset for some terrific photos. - Taxi from the airport was about $110 US at the time we went. We will most definitely stay here again when I return.
