After coming here for about 2 years, I am in shock what they did to my sweet doggie. They literally butchered her. In November 2024 was the last time, we had a great experience. Today, the groomer Keri tells the cashier/manager that a dog she was grooming did not like her. This concerned me as my dog has been dreading walking in their door and wanting to run out. She use to walk in tail wagging and happy. I said please talk nice to my baby and be gentle. She is a sweet sensitive lover. Because they were so busy with bunches of dogs last time, I just had her get a bath instead of a cut. So, her hair was longer, but brushes out super easy with a Wet brand brush. Later I get a call from the groomer, saying the comb she uses was not getting her knots out easy and proceeded to tell me that she gave her a short skirt, but that "hair grows". I get there and she is butchered with her privates shaved where I have never seen anything like it and she has skin showing at her eye area with the aggressive action. I feel terrible for leaving her in the hands of this abuse and torture chamber. Before I knew the extent of her bad cut, I asked for a bow and was told by the owner that only comes with VIP service. I said, I thought I had VIP service. She looked at my card, and said November was the last time. I paid 90.00 for my 25lb dog and had no idea they took that off my service. I gave a 15% tip too which is lower then I normally do, and regret any tip. -- Meanwhile, the owner reluctantly gave me a .20 cent bow for Oriental Trading Company. And, I was in shock as I left and vowed to never go back or buy any of their food, snacks, toys or grooming again. Cape Coral seems to have better options then Punta Gorda on everything. I absolutely love this store the owners are so knowledgeable and helpful and they always have everything I need.

Lydia did a great job with our pup Olive. Her haircut is amazing. When we went into the store we had to wait a minute for her to be brought into the take back. While waiting Olive sniffed at the back door where she gets her hair cut, wanting to go in. That is reasuring that she is happy to get a bath and cut. I have taken my dogs here for a few years off and on. The last two visits one of my dogs came home completely stressed, lethargic and vomiting resulting in one trip to the vet and one trip to the animal ER. Recently they raised the price on my other dog without any valid or specific reason as to why. I do not feel comfortable taking my baby there any more ...getting bad vibes. Max & Penny love there new short hair cut. This place is great. The groomer comes out to talk to you before they take your puppy in the back and again when u pick up your fur babies. The groomer took time to tell us what they did and how we feel about the cut. Max & Penny smells amazing, so soft And clean. I just had my two shitzus groomed at animaluvrs today. I gave the groomer specific instructions about how I wanted them done. She wrote it down and seemed to understand. None of my instructions were followed and the dogs look awful. They also put perfume on the dogs when I have a standing order for no perfume. The place was packed, they were doing lots of dogs today. I guess too many to pay attention to my requests. read more

$65 to groom small dog and they don't clean ears. My dog has lost its hearing because of it. I do not recommend.

Let's start with the positives-they are located in South Punta Gorda, they have a variety of pet food and supplies. Now the not so positive and definite improvements need to be made...:The owners have no organization or systems in place. We ordered items and were never called when they came in. We have left messages for an appointment or another order to place and no one calls us back. We like to support local businesses - HOWEVER - when we get better, more responsive and friendly service from Amazon - why would folks shop at a store with zero customer service or interest ? It's more about that then making money. Dogs and cats know the difference too. read more

I made a 9:00 A.M. appointment on a normal working day with Animal Luvrs to have our Maltese terrier groomed? As is my practice for all appointments, I arrived 20 minutes early to allow time to take care of any preliminary business prior to the appointment time. I have always understood this to be the expected and often requested time to arrive in advance of an appointment. Trying the door to the shop at 8:40 A.M. I found it locked while observing at least two people moving about within. After waiting on the sidewalk for ten minutes holding my dog in my arms in full view of the shop attendants I knocked and was ignored until a young woman slowly responded after arranging her coffee and a water bottle on the cashier's counter. She told me that despite my having made an appointment the shop did not open until 9:00 AM and that I would have to wait until then to leave my dog. I responded that under normal circumstances that wouldn't be a problem but that I had a medical appointment in Sarasota some 50 miles distant at 10:00 A.M. and that I was cutting it close as it then stood. After telling me in so many words that she was not responsible for my problem she retreated back into the store and locked the door. Several minutes later she reopened the door at which time I made it clear to her that I considered her lack of consideration and responsiveness to the needs of a customer to be extremely rude and unbusinesslike. At that point an older, woman who I took to be the groomer came out of the back and joined the conversation by repeating the same defensive clap-trap that I had heard from the younger woman. Somewhat irked I questioned the necessity for her to make a 77 y.o. man wait on a sidewalk holding a dog in his arms for 15+ minutes until the official shop opening at 9:00. She then pointed to the clock on the wall and said it hadn't been fifteen minutes. I then pointed out to her that unless I had entered another time zone her clock was 5 minutes slow which it indeed was. The younger girl responded with "that's the clock we go by" while the older women told me I was being rude. Thoroughly disgusted, I said no more and left. I would have let this lack of consideration and poor customer service slide if it were not for the fact that the groomer "tattled" to my wife when she picked our dog telling her that I had been rude to her. My wife pointed out that no one advised us that the dog would not be accepted any time before the exact time of the appointment which in our experience is something that is most unusual if not unheard of. I will never again use her services nor will I recommend her to anyone--not because she isn't a competent groomer but because of her rigid defensiveness and lack of regard for the needs of a paying customer. She impresses me as a condescending prima donna who would be well advised to leave customer relations to others. read more

Beware. I do not recommend anybody visit this pet store!!! Besides the outrageous prices and weird hours, the blonde lady presumably the owner, is completely disrespectful. One evening I wanted to purchase nail clippers, after she watched me stand at the register with no acknowledgement, I simply set the clippers down and left (as they were way to much money anyway.) Then, she comes into MY JOB TWICE, ACCUSES ME OF STEALING the dog nail clippers in front of my patients & coworkers, simply because she couldn't find them. How about check the cameras first before making yourself look foolish? The audacity of this women!! I've never been so embarrassed before in my life. NOT at all a way to handle a situation like that. Completely unprofessional, you have definitely lost some customers. Hope the clippers were worth it. read more

If you're planning on applying here DO NOT APPLY HERE!! They hired my partner like a week ago and told them all these things they were exited to show them and things were looking great. They were exited for their new job. Within less than a full week they were fired with no warning and no communication whatsoever OVER THE PHONE. The staff member that fired them was basically lying through their teeth. Their was no communication to my partner about any problems and they were very wrongfully fired with no warning. The groomer took time to ask questions about our dog & to really understand what we were looking for with her grooming. She explained she would take her time to make sure our dog was comfortable (very nervous rescue). We could not be more pleased! Excellent result & our dog looks fantastic! When we adopted a rescue from a shelter in ft. myers we stopped at this animaluvrs and the store was already closed. When we told the wonderful lady that came to the door that we were driving 10 hours with a new dog because our flight was cancelled she kindly let us in. We stocked up on food for our new dog after following her recommendations and she is home and thriving on her diet. This is the best pet store! We recently got a puppy and we have had some training issues. We have been in this store several times for ideas on training and we had her fitted with a new collar.
