I tried calling several times no answer so we went in. It was 1:50 PM.The door was wide open with no cars in the parking lot. When I walked in the girl at the front demanded what do you need? I responded my animal needs vaccines. She retorted back aggressively "I need this clipboard back before two". She had an aggressive turse rough demeanor. I said no problem. I turned it back into her at 1:55. She rolled her eyes without looking at me and said "what's his name" again in a very abrupt manner. I had missed a little box off to the right side that I didn't see. I filled that out, put his name on that he was male and his age. handed the clipboard back and she said go sit down. Will call you when he's ready. We were the only ones in the waiting room. Nobody else was in there. After a minute or two of sitting there they called him back. The girl asked me a few questions if he had any seizures or allergic reactions to vaccines, but she never introduced herself, said anything to Bentley or us other than ask us if he'd have ever had any seizures or allergic reactions to vaccines. She said, hold his head, turn his butt. Very aggressive and angry. I didas directed then she said, hold his head straight up in the air nose pointed to the ceiling, which I did, she shoved the Bordetella vaccine in his nose. The entire staff acted as if they were all angry at someone or something. He's a golden retriever, very kind and 10 years old. She treated him in a very aggressive unaffectionate way towards the animal, as if it was his fault she was there. I have been there several times before and never been treated in this manner. I will pay more to go to a regular veterinarian. If you care about your animal and more about the animal than the cost, I highly recommend not going there. these employees who don't wear name tags that I saw don't introduce themselves and treat the animals in a very aggressive way in front of me. I can imagine what they do when the owners aren't there. They should not be working there around animals. Shame on all of them. It's becoming very evident there's something going on with upper management at this particular establishment and it's trickling down to the public employee. my husband and I are both nurses. I'm an RN. I've been in healthcare 40 years recently retired now. If I treated my patients and family the way they treated us and their patient.( my golden) I wouldn't have a job very long. My male dog was neutered 04/02/2026 the next day the surgery area was coal black and swollen, my dog did not feel well at all and kept choking with a crazy amount of slobber , ( I did not know he had tubes in his throat for surgery and had issues with that after surgery) I called the number on my paperwork and had to leave a message, No call back so I called the emergency number and left a message, also as directed I texted the emergency number asking for a call back so I knew what to do about the black color, swelling and the massive slobber and choking. NO call or text back. never received any call or text actually. I had to take my dog to our local vet, he had a fever and a hematoma in the scrotum, received medication and told to watch the black area, should not be black! now back to the vet again because the stitches came out early and the black scrotal tissue has died and is separating from the upper 2/3 of the scrotum! BAD surgery! please avoid Animal Protection League!!! just don't trust them and their alleged vets! read more

It seems as if the Animal Protection League's staff needs a fresh start and to truly realize that the people that bring their animals to them, and the animals that come with their owners are their life blood. If you treat patients and their human parents with disrespect then it will cost you that business and the next thing you know, you are out of business. Let me tell you, there are other clinics that will gladly accept more animals, because that translates to profits and they will do it with a smile. Service great but waiting room can be packed with a variety of dogs and cats making the long waits hard to "handle". "Wish they would consider separate waiting rooms or promote "wait in your car or outdoors with beeper system to "tone down the atmosphere"! My large puppy is excitable! Lol!" VERY rude staff to the public. I felt so sorry for the elderly waiting to have their dog/cat seen about. Each employee acts like they would rather be anywhere else but there. Husband took our dog for yearly meds in Mineola today. APL employees punished him for asking a question. Made my husband and dog sit in the parking lot for 3 hours until everyone else including people who arrived after my husband did were taken care of. Professional? NOT! This is how APL treats an elderly 74 year old man? He just went there to get flea and heartworm meds, a 2 minute weigh in and blood test for our dog. Disappointed. Look. Just go to the Canton Veterinary Clinic instead; they charge a combined $110 to spay a cat and give her all of her shots (males may be cheaper). You'll pay a bit more than the combined $85 for going to the Animal Protection League, but you get a LOT more; they have a waiting room and won't make you and your pet(s) wait out in the beating sun or the rest of the elements for an hour (unlike the APL), they'll check on you while you wait to make sure that everything's okay (unlike the APL), their staff WON'T be curt and rude (unlike the APL), they won't make you feel like you're an unwanted annoyance just for being there (again, unlike the APL), they won't STILL be curt and acting annoyed when they call you at home just to ask if you walked out on them (which I've never felt the need to do with the Canton Veterinary Clinic, unlike the APL)...just go to the Canton Veterinary Clinic and see Dr. Eberhardt or Dr. Armstrong. Give the APL a hard pass, because you cannot put a price tag on good customer service! read more

I would not trust these people to operate on an animal because they can't even operate their phones at 11 a.m. on a Thursday. There's a note in the paperwork you're supposed to bring to the appointment, to the effect that if you have questions following the surgery you should call them, but that's a joke. I sat on hold for 30 minutes listening over and over to a "you are first in the queue" message, followed by a recording saying they had a "high call volume." That was the main office number. The Sulphur Springs number doesn't pick up at all. It instantly gives you a busy signal. Nowhere on the website does it tell you what their minimum age and weight requirements are for spay/neuter operations. Nowhere. Not on the main page, not on the appointment page, not in the paperwork you're supposed to print out and bring them. And they'll refuse to honor your appointment if you show up with your animal in a crate that isn't lined with *newspaper.* Where do you even get newspaper these days? It's kind of rich that people who don't answer their phones want to micromanage what you use to line a crate. Maybe the website should specify how many sheets of newspaper and how it should be folded, too. How about I bring you the animal in the same crate and with the same blanket liner that I use any other time? Better yet, I'll take the animal to a normal vet clinic that answers the phone. The website text is scrambled with weird characters, and the fact that they haven't fixed it is another red flag. The main number--the one they don't answer--is half-obscured in the top right corner of the home page. The area code and first three numbers appear, but the last four are completely cut off. It's also a pain to navigate the site: When you make an appointment on line and then click the back button to make another one, it takes you all the way back to the main page instead of the appointment page, so you have to click through all the options again, including all the cities, to get back to the appointment page. If you use the "make another appointment" button, you still have to go through the whole city selection process again. I also suspect that they write their own 5-star reviews, because the only ones that ring true are the 1- and 2-star ones saying the customer service sucks. You should not leave negative reviews for a caring facility with volunteers. They do their best with a large inflow of animals. The idiots that bring their dogs without a leash are ridiculous. They cannot do diagnostics or treat infections. You can go to a local vet for any problems. I get low cost spay, flea medicine, shots and weight for my cat. If you have a dog you probably want a vet to do blood work for heartworms. My cat is pretty simple so I just get her shots. I appreciate their caring work with animals. read more

We have two dogs and three cats, and we take all of them here for their yearly shots. We get our dogs heartworm treatment and their nail trimming done here also. We used to get their nails trimmed at Petco, but they did a horrible job. The dogs came back with their nails still to long! This is way more affordable than any other veterinarian clinic around here. The other cool thing is you can go whenever you need and not have to make an appointment!!! I just wish that they took pets for other treatments and surgeries. Still an awesome place to go for basics. read more

Customer service needs work, the lady are not very outgoing. When I dropped off my cat everything was fine but when I went to pick her up I waited over an hour long for them to come to me. The employees assisted other cars that came after me. So saying all of that I was the last person to get there animal. It's crazy they say they'll charge you a $20 late fee if you show up pass 3:15 I've been here since 3 and didn't leave until 4:20. They are very unorganized read more
