The animal pharmacy in Canandaigua, NY was a huge disappointment. It does not rate even 1 star. Acting on my vets advice I called for a price quote on a prescription for my pet. On the phone I was quoted a price of $21.00 for a 30 day supply. When I arrived to pick up the prescription I was told it would be $65.00. No one could explain why I was quoted a lower price. I was told that $65.00 was the price and no one knew why I had been given a different price. Needless to say I refused the prescription and will never plan to do business here again. read more

This Pharmacy is the only one in the area for many prescriptions. The prescriptions we were giver basically saved our 12 year old Dachshunds life. Thank you. read more

Established in 1994.

The Animal Pharmacy division was started to focus and specialize on the unique needs of our pet and animal patients. Unique dosage forms and flavoring along with medications custom made to match your veterinarian's specification all became possible. Over the years we have helped thousands of pets and their owners in making their medications as well as making them easy for the animal to take.

Meet the Manager: Julie E.

Julie is the Supervising Pharmacist at The Animal Pharmacy and our primary compounding pharmacist. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy and completed her doctorate program there. She has completed specialty training in nutrition, home care, oncology, and pediatrics. Julie grew up in the area and has been a pharmacist at this store for over 15 years. She has received additional training in the compounding of medications and her experience has provided her with over 6,000 hours of compounding lab time. She has helped thousands of Pet owners over the years! She enjoys working at The Animal Pharmacy because of the many opportunities for direct patient care and the unique opportunity to be involved in compounding medications to help pet owners and their animal's needs. She is rude and dismissive and was not at all helpful in getting anything resolved. I went two weeks without my meds because of her careless mistake. Went today to pick up my next round of meds and the same technician who messed up my meds was once again rude and dismissive about this error and refused to help me in any fashion. I followed the instructions of my doctor to skip the weeks I had missed of my meds due to the pharmacy mistake and the pharmacy would not give me my next pills until that time had passed and once again messed up my meds. Go to a pharmacy that can do basic math.

This pharmacy has been great for the past two years I've been going to them. They even made the compound with flavored syrup so it would be easier to get down my pet. Last month I was told they were unable to get the chemical I need any longer from their suppliers, and recommended another pharmacy--they even called to check if the other pharmacy would be able to get it. A couple of days later I got a call back from The Animal Pharmacy letting me know they were able to contract with another supplier for the chemical. These people are genuinely caring and went above and beyond, and I'm keeping my business with The Animal Pharmacy! They deserve 5 stars! --happy in Canandaigua read more
