My babies love this place they were took care of and I trusted them and they loved the hair cuts

This was my first time here in Alabama! My 2 Bichons needed a groomer desperately, so I made them an appointment knowing that they we're matted and probably would need to be shaved BUT from the min we walked in The two girls at the front desk did not even smile or greet up they just asked if I had their shot records Then the lady that does the grooming came out .....I asked her not to shave them all the way to skin and from there she began her rude comments. I did ask her if she could cut their hair then not shave to close to skin OH NO that's cruel and I'm not going to put a dog through thatwell let me tell you something lady we have had a professional doing their grooming for 5 years snd he always knew how to professionally do their cut and dematt them. I understand they needed a lot of attention but I was willing to pay BUT THEY WERE SOOO rude I just walked out!!! Please don't take your fur babies to this place being RUDE is never a good sign. I don't even want to give 1 star. This place had good reviews from years ago WOW what happened!!! She even told me to take my dogs somewhere else!! Really! We the Animal Barn. I take my dog here, my mother takes her dog here, my in-laws take their dogs here, everyone loves it. We come for the grooming and are always pleased with the result. Our babies are well taken care of, well bathed, well dried, they're nails are always nicely trimmed, and they love the bandanas. I think they're prices are super reasonable. $25 gets you a bath, brush/dry, ears cleaned, nails trimmed and filed, anal glands expressed and a bandana. The staff are all very kind to the animals and have never been anything less than pleasant with me. They require proof of vaccinations before animals are allowed to come and I appreciate them making the effort to ensure our babies stay happy and healthy. The Animal Barn offers other services as well including more extensive grooming, boarding, and obedience and agility classes several times a year. read more

This is the first time I left my dogs in a boarding facility. They were well taken care of and happy when I picked them up. They were groomed and nails clipped. I will definitely take them back when I need to visit family again in the future. Highly recommend. read more

I boarded my dog with Animal Barn while on vacation. When I picked her up she was sick with severe diarrhea and a very raw bottom. The staff seemed unconcerned and defensive. They also lost her bed, broke or stole a container for her food, and said they were not responsible for these loses(all were labeled). I now have a sick dog and not sure that she was even taken care of there. I wont' go back, you won't either if you value your animal. read more

I have taken my animals here for years and never had a problem..I left my Marley there for 2 weeks and she is ate up with sores all over her body!! I called to check on her and not once did they bother to tell me she was getting sores on her!! She was beautiful until I took her here!! I don't think I will be using the animal barn again..It seems to me the price is getting to high and I don't get what I paid for!! I paid $300.00 for her to be ate up by fleas or ants..I have to take her to the vet because now her hair is falling out..I'm very disappointed in the service we got this time.. read more

My two girls have been coming here for a few years. They absolutely love it. The staff is always friendly and professional. They actually go above and beyond to take care of my dogs. I would go as far to say that they're some of the best in Mobile. I would never consider taking my girls anywhere else. We love The Animal Barn!!. This place has a lot going for it, but there's still a few things that make me roll my eyes or give a side-eye glance. It's a pretty big, nice and clean boarding facility. They have a website with a lot of good information. As far as boarding, they have indoor-outdoor runs and indoors rooms with tvs (though I do think the indoor rooms seem kind of cramped- that's why I usually ask for the indoor-outdoor runs for my baby). They have grooming services and handle my neurotic dog's nail clipping seamlessly. They have extra boarding services that you can elect- like extra lap time, extra play time, etc. They do have doggie daycare, but I can't vouch for that- I roll, but don't make that kind of dough. And who really has time for that anyway? Since my dog has been coming here for a couple years now, the staff seems to remember him and they act like they have missed him- you appreciate that as a doggie owner. However.... the service at check-in can vary. The younger dark-haired women is very efficient & friendly and you will be in & out in a flash. However there's another woman working the counter sometimes that seems to be perplexed & flustered with every aspect of her job- and it will take forever for you to just drop off your pet. You're standing there thinking.... Really lady, come on lets get with the program. Also they are going up their prices. I know you have to run a business, blahblahblah.... but it's still not cool. And in the past they've been kinda flexible with vaccinations- meaning you can drop off your pet and if they need anything, you can schedule your pet getting their vaccinations at the vet next door while they are there. Now they have a policy that all vaccinations must be done 10 days prior to the stay. Technically its probably following a certain standard, but it still rubs me the wrong way. read more

My dogs(two huskies) love this place. That's enough to keep me going. The staff is very friendly and remembered me even after just one visit. They are great with the dogs. The prices are very reasonable compared to other places I've used, and their pickup/drop off times work well with my schedule. I will continue to use them! read more

I have a puppy who is paralyzed and was neutured a few days ago. I got called into work and couldn't leave him by himself so I brought him to animal barn for 5 hours. He drags on his bottom and can't be left alone for fear of tearing stitches or getting it infected by going to the bathroom on himself. they said someone would be able to watch him specifically and take care of him. They put him in a cage he couldn't even lay down in!! When I picked him up his band aid over the stitches(to keep out infection) was soaked in pee and half off. He had poop on him! And they went to "clean" him and set his stitches on a very dirty surface! My dog was parched and sweating! He was in an in closed cage next to the door with no air! When I picked him up his ears were back. They did NOT take care of him at all. Even to check and see he pooped! I'm so sad my dog had to go through their lack of care! read more

I have used Animal Barn for a number of years with three different dogs. All three have been happy to stay there. When my oldest dog died a year ago I received a sympathy card that every employee had signed and written a comment about my dog. They have always gone above and beyond and I have had only one minor problem there in the approximately 10 years I have been going there. My current dog loves going there and gets excited when we pull I to the parking lot. The staff all know me and know my dog, greeting her lovingly when we arrive. I strongly recommend them. read more

They are not well equipped for cat grooming.. They say that they groom cats, but when I came to pick up my cat, she was sopping wet and terrified. Now, I know that cats aren't easy to deal with when it comes to baths, but if you claim to be a cat groomer, I expect at least a clean, dry cat. She hadn't even been brushed. I had to spend a good hour with her afterwards brushing her and towel drying her myself. Also, I dropped her off with the expectation of picking her up 2 hours later. When I called they hadn't even taken her back for a bath yet. She ended up being there for 4 hours. I'm sure they are fantastic for dogs, but don't take your cat. read more
