I hope that helps you understand how much I loved this place. I cannot express how delighted I was at this place. I biked to Cascais from Lisbon, covering 22 miles in a few hours, and I was pretty exhausted when I arrived. I had to wait nearly 2 hours before I could go to my hotel, and I aimlessly wandered about town just trying to kill time. I saw that it had some gluten-free options, and decided to take a look. Greenwish has a great selection of gluten-free desserts, small pies and quiches, and a wonderful menu of healthy food including awesome salads and a brilliant daily soup. So brilliant that I ate the soup of the day here twice. I got a lot of stuff to go, hauling it to Lisbon with me as I embark on a hiking trip. Man. I wish I could eat here every day - I'll just have to hope it's still here when I come back next, so VISIT AND EAT HERE! You won't regret it!

My favorite spot. Honestly it's one of those spots I don't want to write a review about, because I…read morewant to keep it a secret. But here goes, because "sharing is caring". Food/drinks are self-service here, which means you straight walk in to the cafe and order to your left. You'll take your drinks (coffee, etc.), and they'll bring the food out to you. They have a menu in both Portuguese and English, but the menu isn't always visible so just ask them for one and they'll pull one right up from the counter. I like their Dutch Sandwiches (I think those were what they called it), which is basically like flatbread sandwiches. The sandwiches and salads are prepared onsite, surprisingly - you wouldn't think they can actually cook much in such a small kitchen/counter space. Their pastries are ok too, but I don't think the pastries are prepared there. Note that "cafe" in Portugal basically means an espresso. You can also order your coffee decaf, but it'll still be an espresso. If you want something milder, like the American cup o' joe, ask for an Abatanado - I didn't see it on the menu in this cafe, but usually other Portuguese cafes have this option. They do have Garoto, which they call "latte", but really it's just the same espresso with maybe three teaspoons of milk (atleast it tasted that way) - don't expect to find the typical latte you would get in the States. If you're okay with very milky coffee (milkier than the standard American latte), order a Galao (usually about three quarters of the cup is milk) or Meia de Leite ("Half Milk" = half of the cup is milk). The cafe is pretty small, about 5~6 picnic tables outside, where you can see the Dune and the Ocean from afar. They always keep a bowl full of water for dogs, and hence my family calls it the "dog cafe". They also have indoor seating, but it tends to be a little warmer and a bit stuffy. Still, nice natural colors. Parking is a bit tricky here, especially the way out - which is typical of parking lots in Portugal, since they seem to have smaller individual car spaces than the ones in California usually do. Be careful not to scratch any other car on your way out! Tip: You can walk down the dune from this cafe. Just follow where the people are going, or follow the signs! It's a narrow walk, but quite nice. Many people either jog or walk with their dogs.

The wait staff is incredibly friendly and remembered us by the 2nd time we visited. We enjoyed sitting down to eat but also took advantage of their Pastelaria where we would grab pastries and coffee to go for our activities. We had the eggs Benedict and the Benedict Florentine. We found the Florentine fresher with the salmon. The yogurt bowl was yummy and filling. The English breakfast is a classic. The beyond vegan burger was delicious. The French toast was the star of the table. It has a crisp outer shell but soft and moist middle. Delicious!

My Australia friend chose this restaurant as he had dined her alone & recommended the lamb chops which he enjoyed previously. The menu had pictures & the lamb was accompanied by mint sauce, salad & french fries . When it arrived it was a plate of crisps with 2x 3cm + 1x 2cm small pieces of Lamb , that was it . I challenged the staff so after 3 min the mint sauce arrived ,followed by the salad 5 min & finally the "1" bowl of French fries 10 min later . The waiter simply said the chef was new . The same member of staff had served my friend a few days earlier the Lamb "chops" with all the correct accompaniments. TOTAL LACK OF CARE & INTEREST SHOWN . The experience cost over €100+ TOTAL RIP OFF My Australian friend was upset by the experience & my Portuguese friend so ashamed he insisted on paying the bill . He simply said the restaurant didn't reflect Portuguese Hospitality VALUES . I TOTALLY AGREE

When we arrived, they were just doing counter service and closing for the afternoon, but we were able to get a panini and we found local craft beer (which was pretty neat) and they let us eat on their patio. I had the Iberian sandwich which has Iberian prosciutto, flamengo cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickled red onion. It was the perfect sandwich to cure my hangry. When we went for lunch the day before we did not know that this café was also the breakfast part of our bed and breakfast. We stayed at a bed-and-breakfast the next street over and both mornings a continental breakfast at this café was included. This is one of the best breakfasts I have ever had as part of the bed-and-breakfast. We were each served a portion of fresh fruit (which changed by the day), a boiled egg, a couple slices of ham and cheese, a pastel de nata, a basket of crossiants and rolls to share, and whatever you would like to drink. I had fresh squeezed orange juice, and a latte both days. Thankfully, like most places in Portugal they offer dairy alternatives. I honestly still dream about this breakfast. The wait staff on all of our trips were so friendly and helpful. It is really a beautiful set up and they have many things that you can purchase as well. I personally purchased a bowl shaped like a strawberry that I now have in my kitchen. This is definitely a stop. You need to make while in Sintra!

A surprisingly good restaurant for such a touristy location!…read more We stopped there because it was one of the best-looking spots near the popular Carcavelos beach, about mid-afternoon. Given how touristy the location is, we didn't have the greatest expectation, but we were pleasantly surprised. First of all, the service was impeccable. While not native speakers, when it came to food and service servers could speak and understand a great English and were very helpful when it came to helping out with the choice of drinks and food. The passionfruit sangria is the signature of the location and came in absolutely ginormous glasses, when ordered on a by-glass fashion (while still being reasonably priced). Not only was it refreshing, it was also surprisingly delicious for such a spot. For starters, we both went with gazpacho soup. While not authentic, it felt right for the weather and how we felt. Once again, it was extremely tasty and looked great! For the main dish, I took a whole-roasted fish (sea bass I believe) and once again, I was amazing. It was tender, it was well-seasoned, it was fresh, it was delicious and it came with a great seasoned olive sauce and baking potatoes. A really great example of the amazing seafood one can find in Portugal! My partner however was not as lucky. The crevettes skewer was lackluster and lacked any sauce or seasoning, while the crevettes were overcooked and rolled in flour prior to cooking, giving them a specific and not a very pleasant texture. Now, the desert - I went with a chocolate mousse - kept the whole trend of the culinary excellence going and was both chocolaty and delicious to the maximum. Overall, a great location, and if you are in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit!
