Some of you knew that I turned 56 this past December, and where did I want to spend my birthday? At an expensive restaurant? 5 star hotel? World famous resort? No, this ailurophile wanted to spend it at a cat cafe.
I was giddy with excitement when I found Angeles Meow Time online. You cannot take a jeep straight here, you would need either a Grab, taxi or a car. It's located in a small plaza between Westfields school and the Central Town Mall. It's a cozy place with seating good for small groups. The cat room is located on the second floor, where you must ascend a steep set of stairs. Please read the posted rules to protect yourself as well as the cats. To enter the cat room, you'll need to purchase at least a drink, make a donation (you choose the amount), and sign a waiver. Afterwards, they'll give you a complimentary set of disposable slippers then you'll need to wash your hands.
They have fifteen, yes, fifteen resident kitties. They're all gorgeous cats: Persians, a rag doll, Scottish Fold, Siamese, and a few mixed breeds. I commented on how large and healthy they all were, and the staff commented that it was because they feed them kalabasa (squash). Their eyes were so shiny and their fur so thick, fluffy and soft. I was so impressed at how sociable and sweet the cats were. They were also very active and playful.
The staff are lovely, and are very knowledgeable about the resident kitties. They know all the cats by name, and could tell me about each of their personalities and idiosyncrasies. They encouraged interaction with the cats, and offered to take pictures.
They have an extensive menu, and after some perusing, we decided on...
- Iced Caramel Macchiato was ok
- French fries - tasty and crispy but oily
- Mini Black Forest cake with whipped cream frosting YUM!
I was so very sad to leave so soon, wanting so much to stay longer. I am planning to return with some like-minded friends so I don't have to drag my hubby here again. It is a perfect place for cat lovers to hang out, nosh on some food, have some drinks, and cuddle with some beautiful felines. read more
