This is our default place for lunch every time we're in the west. It's a small, nondescript restaurant inside a small shopping complex but to me, this ranks as one of the top Filo restaurants in Sydney when it comes to taste.
The rice meals are from $13 but the serving size is quite plentiful. I always get the crispy dinuguan (and sometimes they have puto to match). My companions have tried other dishes such as the liempo BBQ, sisig, kare-kare, pinakbet, etc and no one has really faulted any of the other food they serve.
They used to be called Gold Ribbon which is a portmanteau of the names of the two most famous cake shops in the Philippines (Goldilocks and Red Ribbon). They are quite popular with their cakes and baked goods such as ensaymada, puto, and other Filipino "kakain" (desserts - kutsinta, palitaw). I especially love the ube cake because I will eat anything that's made of ube (even more so if it tastes really good - and their cake tastes amazing!). Their puto (rice cake) is also one of the best I've ever had and definitely a cut above all the other tasteless generic ones sold at the Filo shops around Sydney.
They are now called Angelee's Kitchen and I'm not quite sure if the name change is because of a change of owner or if they just wanted a change for the sake of it. The lady in the kitchen who cooks the meals is still the same. read more
