WONDERFUL CARE and TERRIBLE APP! My satisfaction with the care and app are at complete opposites…read moreends of the spectrum but I didn't feel that it was fair to all of the in person dedicated staff to knock off more stars. The team here is fantastic and the app is the worst thing on my phone. The good: The teachers and curriculum here are absolutely wonderful. We have been attending this center for a year and are very pleased with the care our family (child and parents alike) receive. I love the partnership between parent and teacher, especially as a first time Mom. I felt like the newborn teachers really helped guide us as we transitioned from EBF at home to pumping and bottle feeding at daycare. The director and assistant director welcome us by name regularly and I feel a sense of community here. Dropping your itty bitty baby off with strangers doesn't feel good, but I felt very supported throughout our journey through the infant room. The bad: Covid protocols. As an inpatient nurse leader in the thick of it all, I get that we want to keep everyone safe. However, the rules here are outdated and annoying. You do need a note from your doctor for this but not for that. The forms aren't available online anywhere to my knowledge and if someone forgets to give you one when you're there, good luck. The daily check in is long and no one reads it. Can we all not just agree that we won't bring our kid to school with a fever? The UGLY: The app we rely on for communication is absolutely atrocious. It's like the smartphone just came out and we're on generation 1 of the design. "Open a ticket" the help desk will tell you. Cool, well then your ticket will get closed without any resolution with a canned response and a "we're aware." It cannot be that difficult to get an application that looks and functions like it was designed in this century. The application hasn't worked properly in it's poorly designed state even for MONTHS. We pay significantly more than any of our friends in the area for childcare and thank goodness the teachers are good because there is an equally inverse relation between the skill and satisfaction with the teachers and the communication and user friendliness of the application. There's a reason this app has barely 2 stars on Apple because it is AWFUL. Good luck trying to get anyone in senior leadership to give a crap... it's so bad that at this point, after weeks of phone calls and emails with the manager of application support, I would only be satisfied with tuition credit. The amount of time and troubleshooting I've had to do for this sad excuse for parent communication is gross. Heaven forbid I want to see what my child is doing while I'm away..

I want to cuss. This place is so disorganized. Paperwork, payments, schedules...never again!read more

We strove to enlist every therapist, a private behavioral aide to accompany him in the classroom, outside therapies, and more. My son was ostracized for the behavioral issues Shady Oak claims to address. The director, Pam, was very unpleasant and insinuated that we were at fault for him not thriving in an environment where he was constantly singled out and punished. This is not a good environment for children with behavioral challenges. Because of these issues, my child did not make any academic progress the entire year he was there. Pam became a bully rather than an administrator, and when challenged in any capacity, blamed us as parents. The approaches taken to address behavioral issues, instead exacerbate them. The teachers were not equipped to deal with the children in the classrooms, and this results in constant disruption and a lack of boundaries for all involved. I have personally spoken to multiple other parents who have had extremely similar experiences and removed their children from this program.

But our child's teacher had a multi-page matrix for our child's cognitive, motor, and emotional (maybe more) development. My wife and I were floored. The teacher asked if we had any questions at the end of the conference. We were like, "we love you?" When we met with the director for our first tour, she explained how their goal was to raise nice, respectful citizens. For example, they teach recycling. When we visited the class rooms with the director, the kids knew her by name and were excited to see her. This did not happen at the other learning center we visited. We later discovered the director enthusiastically leads sing-alongs. Lil Goldman has relieved our stress from raising our first child. We could not have been happier with our choice.

Our middle child first came to Lil Goldman when he was 4 (one year before kindergarten). He left Lil Goldman set up for success in kindergarten and has thrived through first grade. The time they spent learning writing letters and recognizing sight words has definitely set him up for success in elementary school. Our youngest child has now been at Lil Goldman for 2.5 years and loves it. He is building social and language skills that will prepare him for elementary school. We feel that Lil Goldman offers a safe, fun environment. We have experienced three different pre-Ks because we've moved a few times and Lil Goldman is by far the best one we've experienced. I highly recommend it.
