Perfecto M.

Angel Lake Campground is beautiful. I am definitely a fan. You are surrounded by this awesome mountain. Also you are at 8400 ft into this great mountain and also right next to Angel Lake which is a very beautiful lake. It is pretty small but they do stock the lake with game trout. So there is a bit of fishing to be had. Best times to fish is early as the sun rises and as the sun sets. They seem to get more active and want to feed during those times. But these guys aren't going anywhere so it is an all day fishing spree really haha. The camp sites are well kept and the have lots of privacy due to the vegetation. Which is a plus for me. There are bathrooms here and they are kept pretty clean. Another plus for me. The fees are posted at the entrance area and direction on how to pay. It was pretty easy. I will definitely be back. The campsites have a burning pit ready for you to use and a bbq pit as well. They have room for you to pop up a tent and a table. This is glamping for sure but it was great haha. They also have day use parking areas if you just want to come for the day and hiking trails. Check them out the views are pretty awesome. I would definitely recommend trying it out. Thanks for reading my review.

Little tight but manageable. It's just for the night. The restrooms are nice simple but very clean and well maintained. Will be taking a shower here in a bit. Nice little office store with some local art and trinkets. Ice cream and sodas available for purchase. There is also a Welcome museum and walking tour. It is very close off the freeway yet far enough to block some of the major noise. Occasionally you hear a trucker running the rumble strip but that's it. Definitely a great stop to park for the night. September 24 2026 Tom & Jerri

This is our second visit in five years and you never know, but if anything it's gotten better. The staff is wonderful. The cookies on the windshield this morning were just a super treat that I had forgotten happened here. They've checked all the boxes. You won't be disappointed.

We arrived just after a group had packed up, and to our delight, the grounds were impressively clean--proof that some still honor the wilderness code. But as we wandered with our dogs, soaking in the alpine air and golden light filtering through the aspens, we spotted the occasional blemish: a forgotten sock here, a stray water bottle there. Remnants of carelessness that jarred against the canyon's quiet dignity. We didn't come to clean, but we couldn't leave it behind. Half a garbage bag later, we left the place better than we found it--because that's what stewards of the wild do. Still, it stings to see such beauty treated like a backdrop for convenience. Lamoille deserves reverence, not neglect. Despite that, the canyon remains breathtaking. Towering cliffs, whispering pines, and trails that beckon the soul to roam. We'll be back--next time, hopefully to simply enjoy, not to restore. Until then, may others tread lightly and leave no trace. I highly recommend filling up your rig at one of the local gas stations just in case. We've stayed on site 21 located along the river. Any site off the river will not disappoint. 26 dollars a night! I've never stayed at a place that cheap with that kind of scenery. If you are a risk taker, I've seen sites even cheaper for walk-ins. That's all we really needed, and everything worked without issues. Upon arrival, the office was closed. I called the number on the door and the person said she would be back to the office later and would settle up with me on my check in reservation then. I had prepaid online when I reserved the site, so this contact was to just close the loop I guessed. I watched for a car at the office, but she came by in a golf cart before I was able to walk over. She was friendly and handed me the rules of the park. The roads and sites are all gravel/dirt. The weeds are growing, so I was careful about walking my dog off the roadways. There were many long term residents in the park with a few overnight spots up front. There are several trees that overhang sites and roads to watch out for as you drive through and park. There are not many options in Wells, so I'd probably choose this location again if I'm in the area.
