The Homestead of Sherman was absolutely awful. My Mom was there for 14 days after having hip repair…read moresurgery. She would press the call button when she needed something (90% of the time the bathroom due to being incontinent) and they totally ignored it. She would wind up getting up on her own with the walker to make it to the bathroom when she was only supposed to toe touch on her right leg. I was up there every day and there was always an issue. I would supply all of her incontinence supplies and the next day they were gone because someone there was stealing them each night. I would have her press the call bell while I was in the room and after 30 minutes I went to the desk and asked why nobody was answering. I was told "her tech is right there, go ask her". So I go and ask her(mind you she's sitting two doors down the hall) and this tech tells me that "you can take her, she's only standby assist". I calmly tell her that she is no weight bearing on the right leg. She is aggravated that I bothered her and goes to the room And pushes a wheelchair up to her bed and says "get in the chair". No help at all. They have a limited menu but then a few things they have every day, which is fine. She would ask for something and every time except once or twice they would not bring what she asked for. There were a couple of people that I would say were great. I was told everyone is agency, which I have no problem with. It's just it's obvious the ones I saw working were lazy and really could care less about helping patients. Ashly the assistant DON was great, Penny one of the weekend nurses and Shay one of the techs were helpful. I would rate less than a 1 if I could.

Even with a busy schedule, she arrived within an hour of being notified. She took her time assessing my dad, never rushed, and calmly explained things multiple times to different family members. Most importantly, she made sure my mom felt supported and comfortable. Her presence alone brought reassurance during an overwhelming time. We also learned about the heart behind Lifted Hospice. The founder, Chris Jones, started this organization after his own father's experience with hospice care. That passion is clearly reflected in the way the team operates. His values still guide the company, and it shows in the genuine care provided to both patients and families.
