Hello! We moved here about 8 months ago and started going to Select Dental with Dr. Mola. I've…read morealways struggled with dental anxiety and honestly disliked most dentists I've been to, but this office completely changed that for me. I'll probably stay here forever and recommend them to everyone. The office is clean, upscale, the fountain is my favorite, honest, and they never try to upsell unnecessary treatments. They simply take care of you. Everyone on the staff is incredibly kind, gentle, and patient, which makes a huge difference for someone like me who gets nervous about dental visits. What really stands out is how much they genuinely care about their patients. They've even given my teenage boys life advice during visits. You're not just a number here--they truly get to know you. If you ever have to wait for a specialist, it's because some travel in from out of state. I've always appreciated their transparency and patience with scheduling. In the past 8 months, I've had three fillings, a root canal (with a referral), and a completed repair with Dr. Mola. I also go in every three months for cleanings to stay on track, even though my insurance only covers two per year. The office has been helpful in explaining payments and working with me on anything not covered. Sorry for the long review, but it's an honest one. I'm truly grateful for this team. https://www.selectdentalonline.com

She did gum grafting on my gums and I need more done, but I am going to look for someone else. Maybe these reviews are fake? I can't see people saying for real that she's so nice. She's really rude, grumpy and condescending.

At my first consultation with Dr. Oh, she strongly recommended that I space the grafts out by a year instead of getting them at once, and explained the procedure and my options clearly. Gum grafts are no one's idea of a good time, but she and her staff made the process as easy as it could be. I was incredibly grateful afterward that she had steered me to doing one side at a time (it's helpful to have one side of your mouth available to chew, after all!). Recovery went well, the before-and-after pictures show a dramatic improvement, and at my last cleaning my hygienist kept commenting on how good the graft looked ("so clean!" she said). Oh, and everything was cheaper than it would've been at the other place, too. I'll be heading back next year for the second graft, knowing I'm in good hands! Dr. Oh is clear and compassionate, and her staff is friendly and helpful.

He reviewed pictures from my dental history before coming in to examine me. Dr. Ching sat down and reviewed my medical history with me and asked what I wanted out of treatment, as this affects my treatment plan. He talked with my mom and I for 15 minutes or so giving us information and answering questions before he ever looked in my mouth. He seemed very thorough yet gentle in his examination. I felt very at ease and able to trust him, and I will be returning here for surgery next month, and may have an update at that time. UPDATE: I've had 3 surgeries now by Dr. Ching, and my high opinion of him stands. I experienced very little pain with my gum grafts. The nitrous oxide was free upon request, and he was very understanding of my laughter in the middle of the procedure. I chose not to take the antibiotics he prescribed prior to each surgery (as a precaution) and he was perfectly okay with me making that choice, rather than giving me a bad time for not following his directions as a narcissistic doctor would. He's a very caring man, and wanted me to come back for a final checkup. He asked me to bring pictures of the wedding, since it was after the fact. Caring, knowledgeable, gentle. The office staff is just as friendly. They seemingly remember anyone they talk to. My last visit he asked if I had any questions, and I asked him about proxabrushes, since the ones a previous periodontist had given me were helpful. He loaded me up with a bunch for free so I should be set for a few years, anyway (these things cost like $2-3 each at Walgreens). I definitely recommend him to anyone!

I might be a bit biased because I used to work here back in 2007-2009 as a dental hygienist, but…read moreDr. Chen is honest and fair. You can't really find dentists like this anymore. I've worked at a few places where I have nothing good to say besides I got a paycheck at the end of the day (except for one of them - one dentist tried to send me a paystub without the check...yeah, seriously). Anyway, I'm no longer a dental hygienist (switched career), but I come here for my dental needs and have since referred my whole family and friends here as much as I can. I've had sensitivity a lower left molar because it was hurting when I bit down for a good week, but Dr. Chen did her checks and told me it was fine and that the sensitivity would go away. Had it been another dentist, I'm sure I would have gotten a filling or a crown because that tooth is all cracked with the front of it chipped off from my grinding. It's been a few years now, that lower left molar is doing just fine! Oh, another instance, my mom was going to a low income clinic in San Leandro and the dentist wanted to either pull out the tooth (which the insurance would cover) or put a crown on it (which we would pay $2K). All I did was ask to see the xray of that tooth and the dentist (who also teaches at UCSF) freaked out and angrily told us to leave. Like I was calling out his bluff or something. He already pulled out my mom's molar the year before that, so we're thinking that he did that because my mom's insurance would only cover extractions and the tooth was probably fine. Anyway, after being turned away all of a sudden, we went straight to Dr. Chen for a second opinion and found that tooth to be perfectly fine. It turned out that it was a tooth in front of that supposedly problem molar (that the other dentist wanted to extract) that was causing pain and simply had a small cavity. Dr. Chen filled it, we paid the out of pocket fee and my mom kept her molar for chewing!
